Yeah, you guys did stellar work in that bike.

Totally get the wheel spec, makes perfect sense for price point. Can't really throw on everyday al rims and DAs or Zipps would get to pricey. Ironically, I've been on Prologo saddles for a while and like that one.

I've played around with the sprint shifting but haven't tuned it yet. I'm not much of a sprinter and probably not the best one to ask, but it is conveniently accessible. The shift speed was already about what I liked so it was a natural transition. Love how you can run up or down the cassette by merely holding down a button.

The rear brake is probably a matter of getting used to. It seems to have a "lighter" feel than Red, which is part of it. Although I did a double take when I looked down while riding and saw the brake arm sticking out so far. Second double take was when I changed rear brake pad and noticed it bulging from the middle because of the set screw placement. Couple swipes with razor sufficiently modified carbon pads but what type do you recommend for that brake?

Shimano actually makes a brake pad with a "-1" designation they recommend for wide rims. I think shaving SwissStops is still my "favorite" solution. I'm running the T750 rear brake which has a firmer lever feel and slightly less power than the Shimano rear brake. I've also got some special linkage-type cable housing Jagwire made for me which is really incredible although a PITA to set up as you have to connect each ~7mm link; one by one.

I'm still playing with which side to run the rear brake housing, currently it loops around from the drive side but I think the NDS might be cleaner. I have a PRO Stealth Bar/Stem combo on the bike which will get full internal cable routing through the bar, into the stem, into the fork, and out the fork through the downtube once I get an AR FRD. With no exposed shift cables I want to tidy up the rear brake as much as possible.

I'm also going to install an IA/Bayonet4 front brake on the bike once I get the new frame. With the demand on the AR FRD so high I have to wait for all our consumer sales to be satisfied before I get my "race" bike started.

Hope to see you on the road one of these days.

Dave,

Is there a certain language the dealer should use when ordering from Felt?
I had two dealers try to order/pre-order the stem yesterday and they told me to call back in a few months.

Thanks.

Where are you located? The stems can be ordered from dealers in the USA with these part numbers referenced although I'd be surprised to hear anyone at the sales office is unaware of the update as we've been working on these for the better part of 18 months.

Dave, I just got the same line from my LBS, which is that they are not available for back order yet. I am located in Northern VA if that makes a difference. Also, my LBS informed me that the sizing is 90mm x 0 and 100 x 0. Not insinuating at all that you are wrong just passing along information.

I called Felt specifically yesterday and gave them the part numbers provided and was told not available and won't be for some time. Located in North Texas and called Felt from LBS.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Ok, I guess I jumped the gun. They exist. They are coming to the USA market for Felt Dealers to sell. The hard part is over.
Perhaps the EOM has the focus on selling what is in stock vs. what is incomming at the moment. I'll make a call to the NY office and see what the timing of taking US-based orders is.

Good to hear. I guess some dealers have received the message already. Did they accept your order?

Just ordered a DA4, would like to upgrade to the Carbon/Alloy Bayonet aerobars from the Alloy Bayonet 3 that come with the biek. Does Felt do something where I could get credit towards the different bars if I/LBS send the ones the came with the bike back?

Just exploring my options.

Many of our dealer conduct this type of "swap" an provide a credit for OEM parts toward the purchase of aftermarket product. I see this all the time with Wheels, Saddles, Tires, and extension shapes.

The stems are 31.8mm clamp diameter and can be used with 26.0mm bars with a reducing shim:

I finally got the last piece I needed last night (740R) and am pretty disappointed in the brake. The arm sticks way out and will not work with my SiSl crankset when set up for my narrow wheel set, which are R-Sys SLRs. However, it is compatible with my Stingers and I'm glad it forced my first ride to be on the nicer tire setup. The bike is an absolute dream. It's by far the most comfortable frame I've ever ridden and I am now entertaining thoughts of selling my Seven. Granted the tires play a huge part in that equation but I raced the same wheel/tire setup last season on my FC and I never once thought that it (FC) was more of a plush ride than the Seven. I also find it plenty stiff for my needs (and more to my liking than the FC) and it seems to track as well as the FC, too. Now, there is plenty of sand out there so I didn't push it too hard. I'm sure I probably won't get a chance to either, until the first crit, but I am confident it will leave me just as satisfied as the FC did in that department. Couple pics below as well as weight. The bike was weighed as you see it minus the bottles.[/img][/img]

Hi there,

I have a quick question for you. I have a Felt DA4 2013 model which has been a pleasure to ride.

The only issue I have with this is that everytime I put weight on the aerobars I hear a creaking noise.

Is this normal? Should it be something to have checked out?

Thank you in advance for any help!

I'm not Dave but I can say creaks can come from anywhere, including seatposts/clamps, skewers, headsets, crank bolts... And they rarely sound like they're coming from where you expect

My 2011 Felt B16

Not the fastest frame out there, but it was the first bike I purchased with my own money and I love it to death. This is the complete setup for Ironman Oceanside 70.3, Hendersen 70.3, and Ironman Arizona.

No, it isn't normal, I would have it checked out and the source of the noise silenced.

Don't know how the DA series does it, but on my older B2 with the Bayonet SL, I suffered from creaking whenever I put weight on the aerobars. Disassembled the bayonet completely, cleaned, lubed and installed according to instructions and it went away - it's just that the instructions were somewhat complicated, and the ex-LBS didn't bother reading them.
