Need some ideas....

Daughter getting married. I would like to get my wife something to commemorate the occasion, but preferably not jewelry. Any bright ideas?

Thanks

A really nice homemade quilt for your bed.

maybe she's born with it, maybe it's chlorine
If you're injured and need some sympathy, PM me and I'm very happy to write back.

a very nice watch (I don't consider it jewelry)
if she's into art (painting or sculpture) or photography maybe something she's been eyeing for awhile
if she a cook maybe a new chef's stove like a Viking new cookware like All Clad - but ONLY if she really enjoys cooking.

Professional photography session for the two of them.

This gift should have a connection with your daughter, a mother/daughter theme.

Spa trip/Salon trip
New phone/iPad/tech toy
Wine-tasting trip
Day cruise

Try to think of a treat or experience that she wouldn't splurge on for herself.

Good thinking on the mother-daughter portrait, but we are getting portraits done for the wedding.

I wanted a keepsake of some sort, so spa, etc, while she would enjoy them, are not really what i am looking for.

We are in the food business, and while she loves cooking, it would be a bit like buying her a vacuum cleaner - not wise, i would guess.

I like the art idea, but that is one where i would want to do it together (because i am chicken).

I got my daughter a watch, so i was trying to go for something else, but i may get stuck going with that.

Is one of the shots just the two of them together?

If you do jewelry, do something matching.

I know you said no jewelry, but I loved the idea my friend's parents had:

The dad bought the mom a new piece of jewelry. The daughter wore it on her wedding day as her "something borrowed," and then gave it back to her mom. Now her mom wears it all the time and has a nice memento of the wedding.

Edited to add that you probably can't go wrong with a nice handbag and/or wallet as another option.

Photograph of the two or art work of a time they once spent together.

If you feel like you have a good handle on her decorating tastes, you could get some really nice frame for the forthcoming photos.
I love these reclaimed wood frames. I'd never spend the $$ to get them for myself.

My neighbour has made her daughter a patchwork quilt. The patches are made of photos printed into special material. I thought it was a beautiful idea. Maybe you could go to your local sewing shop and see if you could get one made for your wife with photos of your wife and daughter.

Frames are a really good idea. I did get her a formal looking watch to wear to the wedding, which she did not have, but maybe I'll do this too. Thanks, all!
