@sand101: great to hear you seem to be happy with it :-)

@elevario: your aero chain ring has a little cut out where the battery compartment is on the compact version. On Rotor Q-Rings the chain ring needs to be modified a bit to fit. Readings are not affected by chain rings, our power meters are built so you can change chain rings without affecting calibration, so you rest assured.

@Beanster: that's right, our new Type S (http://www.power2max.de/...ca/power2max-type-s/) is the one for you. Unfortunately the Cannondale doesn't fit with the existing model. Type S will ship from the beginning of February.

Happy training to all,
Nicolas

Can I put the power2max sensor onto a set of Rotor 3D+ Aero 110 bcd cranks? These cranks have Rotor aero rings on them so will it just be a case of grinding a small part of the ring away to get them to fit with the existing sensor? Am I correct in thinking that if I wait for the new S sensor then the rings will fit without any grinding?

Thanks,

Steven

Hi Steven,

right on all accounts :-). If you have found your position on the aero Q-Rings you can dremel the ring. If you want to keep the possibility to adjust them later you should wait for Type S. For all others - the aero chain ring issue only applies to 110BCD (compact). On 130BCD (standard) there are no restrictions.

Hi xsnailx,

the lightest option should be the Specialized S-Works, closely followed by the SISL. The K-Force Light by FSA will also be a light option for Shimano-style 24mm axles.

Rotor...not the Q stuff, just the normal stock 52/36 stuff that came with it and a 11/26 cassette in the back. It's whatever came stock on the bike. I'm not good with the specifics, so if you were looking for some other piece of information, let me know...

Thanks for the 110bcd (whatever bcd is) info too...that will help when I go get my goodies!!

I am looking into buying a 2013 Canyon CF SLX road bike. On the website they say the bottom bracket is a pressfit 86.5. What cranks will work? I am interested in the power2max and lightning cranks.

@PHXATC: Don't sweat the technical stuff, we're here to help :-). BCD stands for Bolt Circle Diameter. It's how far the bolts are apart on the crank spider (here the power meter). There are two common formats - 110mm (compact), which you have, and 130mm. To keep using your chain rings you need to choose 110 when buying your power meter.

@tsarbomba: on a BB86 pressfit the easiest is to take a Rotor 3D because it fits with the existing bottom bracket for 24mm axles. If you want to use the Lightning cranks you need to get their specific bottom bracket with the cranks, since their axle has a 30mm diameter.

@geetee: the Rotor 3D+. Or you can just get the power meter from us and use an existing Cannondale, Specialized, or SRAM crank.

@Thisted: yes, all you'll need is the power meter.

I'm currently riding a Cannondale Slice with BB30 and am thinking of getting a Rotor 3d+ or 3df P2M. I am also using osymmetric rings (130bcd 52/42) and know that they are compatible, however, how compatible? ie, will I need to do some dremel work on the rings to make them fit?

Hi Scotty,

I used Osymetrics myself and my buddy uses them on both his power2max units. I can confirm that they fit without any modifications, both on compact and standard.

My Power2Max just arrived! I won't be able to install it until this evening but can you confirm if I need a special tool to install it onto the Rotor 3D+ crank?

Hi qngo01,

yes, on the Rotor 3D+ you need the tool. Sorry if there was a miscommunication - I guess you don't have it? If so please email us at the support address and we will arrange to get one to you asap.

Hi Nicolas,
Just received my FSA Power2Max and had a chance to read through the User Manual. It claims that I should have received the tool but I only have "Powermeter" and crank arms in the box. Is FSA just a standard tool that my LBS will have?

Hi Jack,

the nice thing with the FSA version of the power meter is that it doesn't need a special tool to be mounted. You only need to tighten the six bolts with an allen key to mount the power meter on the cranks. The Rotor and other models need a special tool because on those cranks the power meter is mounted using a lock ring.

So no worries, you are good to go :-).

Perfect!
That was the assumption just got a little worried when I saw the User Manual's packing content list including a "special tool!"

Hi Nicolas - I just checked the shipping box again and the tool was in there in bubble wrap. My mistake as I only checked the Power2Max box. Thanks for looking into that! I did run into a problem where the sensor doesn't fit into the Aero Rotor Chainring that is 110 BCD that came with my P5. I checked around the forum and another workaround (in addition to filing down the chainring) is to file down part of the plastic underneath the battery compartment so there is some extra room to slide the P2M onto the chainring. Have you seen any issues with this approach?

Hi Nicholas,
Should there have been a calibration certificate and a couple of spare battery cover screws in with my Rotor 3d compact P2M when it was delivered? If so, they were missing.
thanks
Gerry

@Quoc: please don't modify the battery compartment, it will compromise the integrity of the sensor and you risk destroying it. Please modify the chain ring instead. I will send you a picture of one.

@Gerry: the calibration certificate is in the manual, inside the cover. I will check with Michael regarding the spare screws.
