Looking for help from high performance athletes
Quote | Reply
Hello everyone,

I am doing some market research for a start-up business called Pervasive Dynamics. It is a smart-wrist band, for high performance athletes to measure their performance level adaptively. It is a device with advanced telemetry and software service hosted on our server. We are in prototype stage. Our device prevents athletes from over-training and under-training thus helping them push their performance limits optimally, in each workout.

Presently, stress-test of high-performance athletes can be done in lab and an athlete undergoes such a test every three months. During the time between any two tests, most athletes get themselves over-trained or under-trained. By providing a wearable device, that an athlete can use while training in the sports-field (instead of a lab) which can measure complete body performance with the accuracy comparable to the lab environment.

If you could please take 5 minutes of your time to fill out our survey that would be greatly appreciated. Also, if you are interested in receiving future information on this product, provide your email in the last comment box of the survey. THANKS!

Maybe I missed it, but there was no comment box. And the response dialogs for the last two questions are slightly off-position - both underneath the last question.

Might want to clarify what is meant by "sweatband." When I hear that, I think of a headband, e.g. worn underneath a helmet. But I assume this is talking about a wristband of some sort.

What if my wrist isn't smart?

Joking aside, a little constructive criticism of your survey if I may: You are probably going to lose a lot of potential surveys when it comes to question 8: Do you know of any other devices? If so, which one(s)? Do you think these existing devices are missing something?

Most, on this forum at least, research everything, myself included. So most probably know of just about every other device on the market and can go into the minutae concerning their shortcomings. That would take up some time answering that question. How about listing the more common devices as a selectable choice, click if you've heard of them, then have a rating scale alongside each?

  1. Care to explain how said wrist/head band gets "tuned" to our body?
  2. Are you just ripping off Polar?
  3. What is a "Peak Physical Endurance" test? I've been in a physio lab plenty but never heard of this one.
  4. Will the sweat band come in terry cloth?
