Ramsay was actually on the verge of the pro soccer ranks in the UK before an injury halted his career and he went on to become who he is today. The guy is no slouch when it comes to athletics, and I bet will dust more then a few slowtwitchers in Kona if he attacks training with the same dedication that he did cooking.

Long Chile was a silly place.

My guess is he won't be beating many people.

The dude's time in the London marathon last year was 4:26. His wife beat him by fifteen minutes. He has run it many times before but I don't know what type of times he did.

I think in the past he's run low-3 hrs in London. He's certainly done the LM loads of times.
Although his prediliction for amyl nitrate during sex over the last few years could have taken the edge off his aerobic ability.

Oh no, not again....

Every year or so, for the last decade, another rumour comes around that he is going to do an Ironman. I'll believe it when I see it.

He gains my respect if he qualifies as a regular agegrouper. If he gets a waiver because of his celeb status that would suck big time, in my opinion.

Yeh, just like the previous times, states in an interview he is doing one and never does, I'll believe it when I see it.

Here's a thread from 2008

if that is what has been reported, it's a publicity stunt or an intention

Why do we give jerks like Gordon Ramsay any attention? I refuse to watch his show, just from what I've accidentally seen in the ads. I just don't understand society's fascination with people who treat other people so poorly.

/end rant (sorry - I think I'm in a bad mood today).

I'm sooo totally boycotting Kona this year.

Didn't Joe Bastianich do Kona before? Maybe it's some lame Master Chef host against host publicity stunt?

Pretty sure he did last year. I don't see the big fuss in this. I'd rather see how someone famous does than some random AG athlete who won their way in through the lottery.
