SOAS

I've been thinking of trying some SAOS Tri shorts. I like shorts with a pretty minimal pad and lots of pockets for gels, e-caps, Chapstick, etc. What are your thoughts on SOAS? Does the sizing run true? Thanks!

love Love LOVE the SOAS shorts. it's all I ride in now. Love the low waist band and snug fabric that doesn't give out and stretch after a while. I found they run small, so a medium in zoot bottoms might be a small in SOAS. But it's been a while since I've bought some. You might try emailing them or finding their facebook page and asking them. When I got my first pair they asked my sizes in other manufacturers shorts and suggested a size based on that.

I LOVE my SOAS shorts (and top too). For me, they have the perfect amount of padding. I wear them for all of my rides - from the really short to 100+ mile rides. I found that they run a little small, so take a look at the sizing chart, or e-mail them for specifics - that's what I did and I got the perfect size.

Huge fan of my Soas shorts and top - and it's hard to get in Aus unless you buy online and also quite pricy. However the small padding is just a fleece and believe it or not, it's better than a thicker pad... also doesn't get uncomfortable on the run. The length of the leg is good too. I'm a bit chunky in the thigh and find they are a tad tight unless i'm right at my preferred race weight (which is still chunky but just less so). the top is snug and sizing runs a bit on the smaller side but it's reasonably true to size. if you have a bigger bust, go a size up and wear a sports crop bra-top underneath as well.
The Soas fabric is sublimated meaning it starts out white and they print the colours onto it. that makes for pretty patterns however in the inseam crotch and inner leg bits (where they could just use black fabric), i have found the sumblimation print of black has worn off a bit and it's more grey-ish and white in a few spots however having said that, they're 12 months old. Overall i'd give them 9/10 for me :)

I have two of their tops and love them. I wanted to try the shorts but wasn't sure... when I emailed to ask about sizing they said their stuff was running smaller than planned but that they were going to correct that for the next production run, this was last year... so you might want to email them and ask about sizing... I noticed between the time I ordered and now that their sizing charts have changed.
I had also asked about their stuff on this forum and was told they were a little 'squeezy' on the thighs and I seem to have thicker (proportionally speaking) thighs, bike chick thighs, not skinny runner chick thighs.
;)

Like a previous poster, I am in AUS so had to buy online. I am usually a small but got a medium in SOAS so would agree the sizes ar on the smaller side. Also have larger thighs so very much like the previous poster, only wear them when I am at race weight (about 4 kg's less than what I am now :( ) Really nice prints and very comfortable material.

Just to chime in again on their sizing.. i spoke to the Aussie rep at the Busso IM in Dec and she assured me the sizing run error was changed, and i tried on another pair of Small just to check - they fit fine (i was at race weight then too) so I think the sizing has been sorted out. FWIW my race weight is about 4kg lighter too and i HATE that i can't just stay at that year round.. damn my carb addiction!!! LOL

FWIW, they are having a huge clearance right now - just ordered arm warmers, 2 jersey, 2 run shorts and run top for $110 delivered (used Gina Crawford's 10% code also).

i have the vintage kit and found size L fits me well (164cm 68-70 (ugh) kg)

ok, at 66 to 67 kg the shorts are a little small and a medium would have been better.

I love love SOAS, so much so that I'm a brand Ambassador! I find the sizing pretty true to size. In fact in some things I'm a small and some a medium and I wear small in the tri kit pieces since I need it to not be loose during a tri. The run shorts were a tad too small in a size small so my next ones are a medium. I have large thighs (hey, it's muscle!) so medium should work better for me.

SOAS is the BEST race kit I have ever used. Got me through Ironman Boulder last year....held up well. Size up one size though.

as a followup to this, the shorts are weird. i think they might have been sewn incorrectly as there seem to be 2 pockets in the run shorts that open on the bottom (so upside down or i can't figure them out due to dementia). but i like the function and fit and they are quite Pretty. and i loves me some pretty. i would love to use those pockets (what else could they be?) for gels but i cannot figure out how. did i just get a couple lemons? anyway, love the shorts other than that weirdness.

i am LOVING the cycling jerseys. i'm not sure of fit though. there seems to be more material in teh trunk giving not such a tight fit but my shoulders are totally filled out so i could not go down a size. i think i got L (maybe M). but they feel SO light even totally soaked. it is so nice to have the feeling of dryness even when you're totally soaked with sweat that the Soas jerseys are my first pick. and they're So pretty!

I am super fussy about triathlon clothes in regards to comfort and style. In fact I wouldn't join our local tri club nor the QT2 racing team because I knew I'd be unhappy in the team tri-kits. I hate short tops (esp where your stomach hangs out) and I hate wearing long bike shorts which seems to be so typical in triathlon clothes. SOAS is perfect for me. Nice cute shorts that are well above the knees. And the tops are the perfect length. Your tummy and back will be covered even in the aero position. And you'll look good! :-)

The sizes run true. I'm 5'7" and weigh in the low 120s so a medium tri kit fits perfectly. Super comfy and very flattering. I love the shorter shorts w/o that awful elastic at the end. And the racer back tank top shirts are comfy and cool! I don't like the tri tops with the zipper in the front and having my upper back completely covered in material. SOAS has none of that. And you can find nice lighter colors which I prefer for warm weather (what's up with all the black tri kits). I will purchase another kit from SOAS for next season. Pricey but I believe the clothes are made in the US. I find SOAS totally worth it! Can't go wrong. Would also love to invest in some SOAS running shorts. Those look really nice and sharp!

Death is easy....peaceful. Life is harder.
