Sadly another SoCal cycling death...

Anyone catch anymore details of this:

biking LA

It looks like this happened on Park, which is a very steep road that connects the top of the world mountain bike trails in Aliso to PCH. I've been up there on both my road bike and mountain bike quite a bit, but always avoid Park. I usually take Temple Hills as it's slightly less travelled and seems a bit safer to me.

Anyway, a very tragic story and my heart goes out to his friends and family.

I have lost the courage to fly down steep descents on the bike.....I may push it in a race but on training days my buddies are flying by me....truly sad to hear

That new report shows a better indication of the location....which is exactly where I suspected. These two roads (Park and Temple Hills) both are very steep, with sections in the 20%+ range (i believe), and it's not uncommon to reach very high speeds. I'm usually pushing 50mph on my mountain bike going down Temple Hills.
