Current standard for Relocation Packages?
What are the current standards for a relocation package these days? I understand it has changed significantly over the last 3-5 years because of changes in the housing market and unemployment rate.

I'm not talking about upper level management, but about mid level engineering/technical staff with a large aerospace company.

Thanks,
Scott

I'm also wondering the same thing about mid level management and operations. Is there ever any kind of relocation package offered at that level?

For what it's worth, there is no standard any more. It's really employer specific. Having gone through a job search recently in the tech space for mid-career level position, my experience was that most companies were offering nothing other than a few thousand dollars to use as I saw fit. I can say that other than the Microsoft's of the world, you generally aren't going to get an employer to make any arrangements for you. As I stated above, your likely best case is to get a sum of money to use as you see fit.

With unemployment still running high and most companies able to access a lot of available workers locally, the days of good relo packages are not likely to return any time soon. Best of luck to you. And always remember it never hurts to negotiate.

5-10K sign-on bonus for mid level software developer with special skills (SAP, Oracle, etc...)... Nothing more than that and probably less (3-5K) if you are a general .net developer.
