"arm warmers" at Kona
Hi Guys

Happy new year to all.

I watched NBC's Kona coverage last night and there were a number of pros (Chris Lieto comes to mind) that were wearing what looked like arm warmers on the bike. Were they arm warmers (seems strange in the heat of the day in Kona) or perhaps either some sort of sun-protection product or compressions (although I am unsure what benefit compressions on the arms would provide for the subsequent run)?

Thanks

If anybody can, a Kiwi can

THey are "arm Coolers" . Pearl Izuimi, Desoto and others make them. Pour water on them and the evaporation cools you off. Work like a charm, I've used them in every Ironman I've done. I use them for training in Vegas heat, as long as you have water they work well.

Your profile says that you live in Brisbane so I suggest you buy a white, long sleeved surf rashie and go for a ride in the mid-day sun.Pour water over yourself while riding and you will find out why they wear them.
