Apparently the one remaining issues is the proposed race hotel. Seems like the Woodlands Marriott Woodlands is booked full each weekend for large scale events.

I stayed at a fairly nice Motel 6 when I saw The Cure in The Woodlands back in 1992. Have you checked with them? Or anyone else?

Keep us posted.

My friends brothers sisters cousin told my dog that we will have an announcement by June....maybe July but probably by September. Great "breaking news" that you don't actually have ANY information on....

Latest that I'm hearing is to expect an announcement any day now. Race date of Memorial Day weekend. Gonna be a hot one if true.

That's cruel and unusual punishment to have a IM in Houston that time of year.

I hope they'll have plenty of ambulances and life flights at the ready.

Woodlands, Tx and Louisville both avg mid-80's and humid given their expected race time of year (end of May vs end of Aug).

houston is waaaay warmer than loueeville between may-september. no comparison, plus the sun is stronger...the bike courses would be identical, although i would think lilville is more scenic, diff trees,etc...

Good point. Normal high/low for May 29 (Saturday before Memorial Day this year) in Houston is 88/70. Normal high/low for Louisville for August 29 (IM Lou race day) is 84/66.

It must be said that the high temps on the Saturday before Memorial Day in Houston the last five years has been:
2010 - 96
2009 - 94
2008 - 93
2007 - 78 (rained like hell, record rain fall for that date in Houston history and why it was "cool")
2006 - 92

You can pretty much bank on low-90's and brutal humidity around Memorial Day.

I heard in mid-May that an announcement was to occur next week.

If so, I'll be back in town for it and will begin making phone calls Monday morning.

I was told by WTC PR personnel - when a rumor was going around about an announcement at the 70.3 in Galveston - that if there was an announcement by WTC, it would be done by press release.

Not sure what the local folks would have planned. That's what I'll be calling around for on Monday to see if anything is developing.

Seriously? Memorial Day? Seriously?

Do they want us to all die? Let's try mid-April at the latest....or October/November.

Ugh. This is upsetting if it is true...about as upsetting as the Houston Marathon lottery.

People died at Lonestar this year and it was "only" in the upper 80s and a half.
