Hi! I've been lurking on ST for a couple of years now for the most part-- posting very rarely & only when I feel brave enough to do so. I would like to start posting more and being that I'm a woman, the Womens forum appears to be safe enough. Nice to meet y'all!

Hey everyone, I've been lurking around for months now to find answers to all my nagging triathlon questions and I figure it's about time I make some contributions! I've been into triathlon for a couple years now and have raced all distances.

Glad to see the new Women’s Forum. There are so many new women coming into the sport and this will give them a great place to come and ask questions. I own a bike/triathlon store in Spokane WA and women are always asking me questions that I am happy to answer, however sometimes they need to get a second opinion from someone other than myself and this will give them a great place to come. I will pass the word to all the women I know.

how do i get wife into cycling?
Re: Welcome To The Womens Forum [bluejireh]

Let her try MANY bike saddles by taking advantage of saddle rental programs. The Adamo brand is statistically favored here and a good place to start.

There are quite a few good threads on this with people asking the same question. Generally the recurring advice is to let her drive this. Let her make the decisions and be supportive, not putting your agenda first. Don't buy her the $3000 road bike unless she specifically asks for it. Don't run out and buy her tons of cycling gear, let her pick it out. Let her determine pace of any rides you do together.

I just found this group, yesterday and was so excited!! I just started into the world of triathlon, a little later in life than many but finally doing it. I had always biked over the years and did a few group rides but never really a race. Started running about 5 years ago when I realized that I really wanted to go after that dream of doing an Ironman. Relearned to swim last year and did 2 tri's this year, at 52. I live in an area that is not very active but then I get the trail to myself, often, in the colder months! But it would be nice to interact with other tri gals, even if it's only virtually. Though the tri camp you guys do sounds awesome! Maybe one day.....
I look forward to getting to know everyone!!!

IM CDA. However, it depends where I am living. I am currently in SE Pa. I'm hoping to be relocating to Colorado in the next 6 months. I lived there previously, and would love to return there. Have missed it ever since I left. I'm single, don't even have a cat!! :) But time will tell.

CDA is a great Ironman event. Water is a little cool for people who travel from warmer climate. Weather on race day is usually very pleasant. It has great spectators to cheer you on and the course is very scenic. Hope you can come do CDA Ironman.
