Jeans that fit?!
Hi everyone,
I am petite, have a small waist and muscular legs (biking....). Alot of the in style jeans just don't fit...always gap in back, etc. Any ideas for jeans that don't have to have alterations?

Why are you opposed to having them altered? I am also petite with a small waist in relationship to my quads and I usually have to buy my jeans 1-2 sizes bigger to fit my quads and then have the waist taken in. Since I always need to have them hemmed too, either way they'll need alterations. I do have a pair of Robin's Jeans http://www.robinsjean.com/ that fit perfect (stretch denim) and I have 2 pair of Lucky jeans that didn't need alterations but all my other jeans - Rock & Republic, True Religion, Hudson - have all had to be taken in. What I actually like about it is that my jeans fit like a glove and as long as you use someone who is really good at alterations you can't tell the jeans have been taken in at all.

OMG - I hate jean shopping for this very reason. Sometimes it is worse than trying to find a swimsuit.

I'm petite, too, with larger quads. ALWAYS have to have jeans shortened, but I usually have luck with Hudson and Level99 fitting everywhere else.... I like my jeans to sit kinda LOW, so I don't have too much of a problem with the waist not fitting, I just wear a belt if there happens to be a small gap. Joes jeans are okay for our body types, too... you just have to find the right style, which is no doubt, a pain in the ass!

I'm a guy and I'm thinking about having my jeans altered. I have a weird body shape with a skinny-ish waste, wide girly hips, and big, muscular quads.

Same problem here. I get the lowrise American eagle short size and with stretch. No stretch? gappish waist. I find the lowrise really makes a difference (oh yeah I have a small waist but a big booty, so the jeams can hang off the booty). But jeans with stretch make a big difference.

Another thing to try is men's jeans. I had good success with men's 501 red tab buttonfly.

Good luck!

At H&M they sell their jeans by measurements(27 x 28, 29 x 32, etc), not size (4, 6). That might help you match up a little better. I've been happy with their fits.

I've got very muscular quads and a fairly narrow waist. I've had a lot of success with the Old Navy "Sweetheart" style of jeans. I do know that Old Navy does have short versions of their jeans.

There's a brand called "little in the middle" you might try them. They are made for women with a large hip to waist ratio.

There's a website out there called 'true jeans' or 'my true fit' or something like that which will allow to you measure your waist, hip, and thigh circumference and then make recommendations of jeans for you. I have had good success using their suggestions (but I didn't buy from them because I found a better deal somewhere else).

I get men's lucky brand jeans (i think their slim fit version) -- a bit pricey - but it solves the waist to leg ratio problem :)

x2 on the Banana Republic jeans. I completely understand having the quad to waist ratio being out of whack, but the BR ones fit great. I hear they fit a lot of body types very well. I have a regular length but I'm sure you can hem them to make them shorter if need be.

Good luck!
