Hello,
I am currently recruiting for coaches for ACHIEVE Youth Triathlon Summer Camp. It is a free 6-week camp for kids ages 9 - 14. Currently we have 4 camps in Washington, DC and 2 camps in Houston, TX. The camps will run from June 21 to July 30th from 8:30am to 12:30pm.

ACHIEVE Head Coach job description
  • Are you passionate about sharing how exercise and fitness can improve people’s lives?
  • Have you worked with youth in the past?
  • Have you experienced the benefits of exercise in your personal life?
  • Have you supervised other people in the past?

If you answered yes to any of the above questions, consider becoming a coach for the ACHIEVE DC triathlon youth summer camps. We are looking for motivated individuals that have a passion for athletics. Ideally you will have completed at least one triathlon, and have experience working with youth, or in a youth related organization. As a coach you will be working with three other coaches with 20 - 30 kids between the ages of 9 - 14. We . You will also be responsible for keeping track of attendance and tracking progress with bi-weekly time trials
Ideal ACHIEVE Coach Characteristics

· History of health, sports and/or fitness involvement in the sport of triathlon
· Is a triathlete, or has done a triathlon in the past
· Experience working with youth or youth oriented programs
· Coaching experience
· Motivated to share a love for exercise with youth
· Ability to learn and teach skills and techniques to youth creatively and effectively
· Familiar with Google spreadsheets and how to use them

2009 Camp Dates: June 17 – July 30
Camp Days/Hours: Monday through Friday from 8:30 am – 12:30 pm
DC Kids Triathlon: Friday, July 30 (Camp concludes)
DPR Orientation: Dates To Be Determined – A 2 day process and you are paid for your time

Pay: Head coaches will be hired by the DC Department of Parks and Recreation and paid an hourly rate of $11 - $15.

Additional Background
ACHIEVE provides youth ages 9-14 with a fun, life-changing experience by introducing them to the sport of triathlon. Headquartered in Washington D.C. and acting in partnership or collaboration with local government and private organizations, ACHIEVE takes kids through a 6-week instruction and training program, provided free of charge and monitored by experienced and trained coaches. The ACHIEVE program helps kids master the fundamentals of swimming, cycling, running, and triathlon racing, as well as the essentials of proper nutrition, stretching, strength-training, and flexibility. The ACHIEVE program concludes each season with a timed short-course triathlon race, certified and sanctioned by the USA
As a head coach you would be part of this process of helping youth learn to navigate the challenges of a triathlon, while instilling in them the essential life skills in fitness, exercise, discipline and self-confidence. As a head coach you would be supervising and working with three other coaches that are hired through DC Parks and Recreation.
