Question for the Wongstar

What are those "running sticks" you say you can't run without? Tell us your secrets, oh Asian Triathlon Superstar......

Also, I saw your travel sponsor at IMAZ. I couldn't believe it... how does he walk on that leg, let alone run?? What you have done to help him is pretty great. It was amazing (and inspiring) to see him run.

Alot of athletes do it, no secret. Snowsill is big on it, but don't go buying some ultra lightweight, dimmpled, specialist running sticks, get yaself an old broom handle and cut off 60 mm, that'll work just fine.

What is the supposed benefit of these sticks?

I seem to remember that people used them initially to prevent crossover (i.e. hands crossing
over the midline) but they're comfortable for the people after that so they stick (no pun
intended) with them.

Just snap a couple of bits of grass at the start of your run, put them between your first finger and thumb, and try not to bend them, does the same thing and you don't look a knob running with sticks.

I had a track coach that made me run holding potato chips between my thumb and forefinger...
Pretty sure I looked like a knob, but at least I got to eat a few chips at practice!
Anway I had to do it because I used to break my wrist when I was running and starting to tire...could be the same thing here?
Xover would make sense too.

Ours would cut nerf balls in half and have us hold one in each hand without crushing it.

i have use the stick a few times. But brett sutton make many athelte run with them not to be relax...your allowed to crush those stick if you want.... it s just a way to rise the awarness of where is your hand and what movement it does when running. He is trying to get athlete like me or jocelyn to have a more economical way to run. Some people do see improvement from this ......and start loving those stick a lot...!!

oh! someone told me I had my own thread on ST. I said "well yes the one where the trolls are trying to tell me I am not Asian and that I am not a superstar." I refuse to tell my secrets to such disrespectful [insert bad words here]. Ah but this is a different thread and you are a wise one who recognizes an Asian Triathlon Superstar...

(besides, how much more superstar can you get than having your very own thread on ST: rhetorical question.)

so these magic "running sticks". well they used to hold M&M minis. Now they hold emergency money (paper bills not coins) and sometimes sour gummy worms for long runs.

Coach just told me to get them one day and not to show up to track practice without them or I would be in big trouble. I didn't want to find out what big trouble meant. (Probably that I would be slow forever.) He tells some people to get them, not exactly sure how he differentiates, I guess people wasting energy with too much arm swing. I never had particularly bad crazy arm swing, or at least I don't think I did. ;) They remind you to relax your arms and not get too tense. And now it feels very funny to run without anything in my hands.

I am willing to sell you a pair of these magic Wongstar running sticks for the bargain price of $500 each, or $950/pair (WOW $50 savings!!!) with complete instructions on how to use them and personalized autographs on each. Don't believe what the imposters are saying--broomsticks, popsicle sticks, pieces of grass, Nerf balls and potato chips?!?! The Wongstar magic running sticks are much more lightweight and can hold emergency money and sour gummy worms! 50mins off your Ironman marathon time guaranteed or your money back*!!! Yes the Wongstar indeed went from a 4:20 marathon to a 3:27 this year using these very same running sticks.

Only very limited numbers and colors in stock, so PM me SOON and start getting faster today! I will even throw in **FREE!!** shipping and handling! :D

ah yes, that travel sponsor of mine, he is amazing!! This may be debated, but I believe he too is a superstar...

hope that helps,
Wongstar -- the ORIGINAL ASIAN TRIATHLON SUPERSTAR

*your money back only applies if I haven't spent it already.

No offense, but you really need to take a step back and get off that high horse of yours. I mean, come on, you can't make up your own nickname and how can you always continually refer to yourself as a superstar? Don't you even think enough is enough? I have yet to see other pro's (like even Kona winners) call themselves superstars.

Win a few real races with a pro field, or at least place top 3, then let someone else nickname you a superstar or wongstar or whatever they come up with. Right now, you're a great age grouper.

Best of luck, I do hope to see you reach the superstar status, but maybe try being a little humble right now until you're there.

believe it or not, it was someone else that gave me my nickname--my coach. and he has been right about everything so far, and if he is the one calling me a superstar, that's good enough for me!

and you do bring up the wonderful thing that is the catch-22. Once you actually get really great results and reach unquestionable superstar status, you cannot call yourself a superstar without being seen as arrogant and cocky. But are you saying that once I get to superstar status this will be ok? It will be ok to get on a high horse?

I know I am not there yet. Some of us just like to have fun. I understand this may be a foreign concept to others. No offense.

It is obvious that you are such a superstar that many people lack the capacity to understand your sophisticated sense of humor. Keep up the awesomeness!!!

damn! two more!

You know what I just thought of...each of the magic running sticks can probably hold about a shot of alcohol in it. random coincidence?? I think not!!

I now have no choice but to also sell a Drinking Game version of the Wongstar Magic Running Sticks. For the low low price of $1799 (WOW you save $201!!!) it comes with 4 custom autographed magic running sticks, complete instructions for both running and playing the drinking game, and I will even throw in 2 bottles of the yet-to be-announced liquor company that is sponsoring me next year.

yes, no joke, I am in talks with a liquor company. I mean, who wouldn't want to sponsor such a well-known triathlon superstar?

dammit that's another shot! good thing it's off season!!

Does the term 'real' races imply shes even won any races?
