I was moving through the field pretty quickly yesterday at around Mile 13 or so, and I spotted some guy running ahead of me wearing a backwards skaterboarder hat with a t-shirt shirt that said "HERE TO STAY: ROCK RACING" on it. Pull up next to him, and lo and behold its Tyler Hamilton. Pretty sure he was running bandit b/c he wasnt wearing a bib (I think i remember reading somewhere that he lives in the boston area?). We chat for a couple of minutes, then he goes, "Man, this running stuff is hard..." I told him I thought placing second in the Giro with a fractured shoulder seemed pretty damned hard to me...
I had to move on, but before i passed i wished him luck with everything, and no matter what, he's done some pretty kick-ass inspirational things in his career.
Neat story I though you all might enjoy.
