I am in. Racing 35-39. Third 70.3. I live in Baton Rouge, about an hour from New Orleans. It is quite a city. Everyone should have some gumbo and seafood while you are there. The Gumbo Shop is a good, reasonable place to eat. May want to have it the night after the race. A little spicy if you have never had it. This will be fun.

I am in....30-35 AG and will be racing in my own backyard. Can't wait! Oh, and watch out for the alligators near Bayou St.John and the lake.

I expect the top 5 guys in 35-39 to go under 4:15 and i know a few that will be well under 4:10. Madd fast times on that course.

I am racing in womens 35-39 and am looking forward to it. I am a smaller sized athlete, and no doubt about it - I am riding a disc wheel.

I was concerned about the swim in Lake Pontchartrain after having learned that snakes are in it, but after seeing the official race poster, I have other concerns. Anyone else notice that the artist drew a roll of toilet paper, a toilet plunger, and a FEMA flyer in the lake along with the swimmer? WTF is with that? Good thing I am bringing my fullsuit. Now I just need to make sure not to swallow any lake water.

You can swallow the water. I would not gulp it down though. Many athletes who live and train in this area have swam in the lake for years even when it was said to be unswimable and I have yet to find someone who has had any kind of illness from it.

Matt Rinard who is the Artist for the Poster and one hell of a cyclist is just having some fun with the toilet paper. The lake is actually in the best shape it has been in for many years. Shell Dredging in the lake is really what caused it to be bad and that stopped many years ago.

I went out to swim about 4pm today and the water was really dirty due to the rain over the last couple days and the 2 foot waves being pusshed across the lake by the west wind. If this was race day we would be body surfing for about a mile. I aborted the swim due to the water conditions but we could very well see this or worse on race day.

top 5 under 4:15!!! not sure what 70.3's you've done, but you are out of your mind.....unless of course it's like Clearwater and the peloton forms. If drafting becomes evident, and trust me, it will come up on Slowtwitch, sub 4:20 times will be doable, but if not I say sub 4:30 get's you top 10 in the 35-39 age-group. If 5 guys break 4:15, I will eat crow......that is of course if there is NO drafting. See you there.

I thought I recognized your name so I had to look up last weeks results. The time you put down should put you pretty close. Nice bike split.

I expect we'll get water warmer then 54.

I'm in, M50-54. Concerned that there will be too many bikes and too much drafting. 3,000+ athletes sounds crazy to me, despite 23 waves. Gulf Coast last year had about 1,200 finishers, maybe 12 waves, and the drafting was brutal. I won't even mention the safety aspect of all those moderately skilled bike handlers.

I'll be there, parlaying reporting for Triathlete with racing in the 35-39 age group, coming in Wednesday from San Diego. I think I'm in the same boat as a lot of folks, just feeling not optimal. I think going from SD to Bangkok to Phuket to SD to Tucson to SD to Nawlins in the last two weeks ain't good for tapering.

John Cobb, looks like I'll be seeing you at B&L this week... maybe we should put down a wager for this race! Some San Diego... uh... what are we known for? VG's donuts? —against your crawdads. Nevermind, maybe just a gentlemens bet—I ate enough weird stuff in Thailand.

Water is going tobe a little cool with the weather lately. Still an 60% chance of rain on race day. Should be interesting race if it rains. Best of luck!

Yah, was I the only one who noticed that Sunday is scared t-storms and a 60% chance of rain! Ugh. I would rather have wind then a lot of rain though. If there's a south wind that's going to be a lot of running straight into the wind!

I'm also scared of it being a draft-fest. 3000+ cyclists on a completely fast road. If there is a little head wind on the way out that's going to make it even worse!

I'm doing it. Third half, M25-29. Feel better for this one then any of the other ones I've done but I'm still not very fast.

I'm racing 35-39 male. Haven't had a long run in 2 weeks so I am a bit concerned about that. Hopefully I haven't lost much I need all the help I can get on the run. The lake should be calm if it is a south wind blowing.

Any one know why they changed the bike course?

weather forecast is MUCH improved from yesterday - only 20% chance of rain. I swam in the lake 2 weeks ago (before all the rain) and it was just fine - actually got a little warm in the full-sleeve wetsuit, so I'm considering sleeveless. And for those who have concerns about the quality of water in Lake Pontchartrain, I think it is just fine. Provided there isn't a ton of rain the day before the race, I think it will be just great.
Anything but a south wind will make the lake rather choppy. Expect to have a bunch o' wind on the bike course, regardless.

There were concerns of the Venetian Isles bridge causing a major flat fest. We ride it all the time but it's in shitty condition and you damn near have to bunny hop your way across it. In crowded conditions with thousands riding it for the first time the carnage would be unbelievable.

Every night that I run, the thought crosses my mind that there's no way in hell I'll still be running a month from now.

I'll be there in M35-39.

Are the ISM saddles now seperate from Cobb? Will yall have any saddles mounted on bikes/fit bikes?
I have this bad habit of collecting saddles if they look interesting to me. I tried and tried to make the Adamo work, but never could get it right. The most comfortable was pointed slightly down, but then it put too much pressure on the bars. Probably not the right thread, but I'll try to stop by your booth on Saturday.

Mr. Cobb, sorry to ask this from you and Dave, but will you have a booth or an "off track" tent where I could look at/sit on a V-Flow Plus? Are yall still connected?
