Well your mum gets some points here. I agree on not microwaving in plastics. Hard plastic has BpA and soft plastics have phthalates - neither particularly good for ingestion.
Cosmetic products need further research - the phthalate issue is very real and we do not know the final consequences. The best information I have seen to date is collected by
nottoopretty.org the last 3 on that page actually resulted in my changing what I use 10 years ago. Your mum CAN use makeup if she looks at the products in the PDF that tested as phthalate free I would think those are ok....
I am with you on moderation - the problem is that no one knows what the cumulative effects of having higher than considered safe levels does.
So, when I have options of products without phthalates I get them. OTOH I get my hair colored, when I do go on TV I use the mousse etc that the hair stylist told me to use....
I have been using bottled water at the gym but just ordered a bunch of klean kanteens (made from stainless steel) instead for me and my boys....I do believe in trying to lessen our burden.
