Female Runners Needed for Research Study - MA and NH area
Quote | Reply
The University of New Hampshire Kinesiology Department needs female runners for a research study on optimal stride rate and running economy.

Participate in a UNH Exercise Science Department Study!

We are looking for well-trained women runners from the UNH women’s cross-country and track team, from area running clubs, and from local road races.

Volunteers must be at least 18 years of age and have a 5 km personal record time between 17 and 22 min (this PR time must have been achieved within the past year) to participate in a running study.
We are performing a study that looks at changes in running economy (RE) following a short training program. The purpose of the training program is to manipulate stride frequency and to assess changes in RE following the program. The study will begin the first of August 2008 and continue into the fall. Data collection will be completed in the UNH Robert Kertzer Exercise Physiology Laboratory, located in the Field House on the Durham campus. The protocol will consist of 12 consecutive laboratory visits: one day of screening and baseline testing (approx. 2 hr), 10 training sessions (approx. 30 min each day), and one day of post-training program measurement (approx. 1 hr).
No monetary form of compensation for participation will be given; however, participants will receive the benefits associated with this experiment. Benefits include gains in individual knowledge of the studied variables: running economy, maximal oxygen consumption, and body composition.
