A reason to like bikes...
Found this in the Lavender room, thought I'd repost it here...

It's about how the bicycle helped liberate women. As someone who really doesn't like to ride...I guess I should be thankful.

I can't imagine wearing 7 lbs of underwear though! Or 7 lbs of anything...that's why I live where it is warm!

"She who succeeds in gaining the mastery of the bicycle will gain the mastery of life." -- Frances E. Willard, How I Learned to Ride the Bicycle, 1895

I wish Frances Willard, Susan B. Anthony and their colleagues could see us now!

Gotta say I'm shocked that you don't like to ride. You're pretty darn good at it!

What a great quote.

I was 'interviewed' by a 6 year old the other day (his parents handed him a video camera to keep him busy) about "Why I bike?" My answer...."To get to the run." To me it's a necessary evil.

Funny because when I am asked "Why do you run?", my answer is always cause its the 3rd sport in triathlon.

You should come do the Alcatraz Challenge with me in August. It's a Bay swim and a run across the Golden Gate Bridge and back. No bike!
