After three years of an annual triathlon camp at Dan and Monty's we have decided to launch a triathlon team for the women of Slowtwitch. Some work has already been done, we came up with a name "Team Xantusia", a motto "Work Your Tail Off", started on a web site: http://teamxantusia.com and written a mission:
"Team Xantusia is an international group of women that inspire and support each other to higher levels of athletic, personal, and professional goals. Our focus is on actively participating in the multisport community through networking, racing, and volunteerism. Members of our team aspire to achieve an amazing range of goals, from racing in Ironman triathlons to volunteering to helping young girls in athletics. We believe in enjoying the journey, celebrating at the finish line, and that investing in other people pays the biggest dividends.
A xantusia is a lizard found in the southwestern U.S. and is the name of the location of our annual training camp. Our motto, "Work Your Tail Off", comes from the sign outside of Xantusia in southern California. This place fits our team perfectlyyou have to climb a steep and winding road to get there and there happens to be a hot tub at the top."
We have also drafted a letter for sponsorship and designed a SERIOUSLY CUTE UNIFORM for racing (thank you Michelle!). We also have a membership application for those that are interested in joining the team. Now we need members and momentum to get us going as a team for next year's racing season. We need help setting up as an entity and getting sponsors. If you are interested in the team, please post here with your questions and comments and we'll get started!
