What say you? I have done this before but I'm on the fence about doing it again. What are your thoughts?
Personally, I think you'd be insane to do that. There are lots and lots of marathons out there. I suggest you spread them out a bit if you want to do both. I can't think of one single reason why this would be a good idea.
I'm with Dawn on this. Why tear your body up when you want it to be in tip top shape and well rested for an IM? 1/2 mary, yes, full, no.
A group of people I know do Chicago as a last long run before Ironman Florida. I did this in 2004 but this time around it seems crazy to me. ;-)

With age, comes wisdom. Sit back and have a nice relaxing day while your friends do Chicago. Then, you can run their legs off at IMFL. :)
I'd just be repeating what others said. But in the interest of giving advice instead of always asking for it, I officially say no way!
Just another factor to consider, in addition to what has already been said, you just don't need to expose yourself out there 3 weeks before your race. I know that seems morbid, but offbeat crap seems to happen on race days (more and more). What if you got a monster blister that gets infected, or a massive sunburn, to name a couple of benign scenarios that could negatively impact your day 3 weeks later.
Believe me, I am the biggest proponent of "Carpe Diem!", but in this case I advocate staying under the radar.
Thanks everyone! I had this thought in the back of my head...you just cemented it for me. :-) This also saves me $110 for a "training" run.
