I like the picture of Jens in this sequence. The riders around Jens are looking over at Julich, probably thinking, "Holy shit, I can't believe he didn't eat it..."

Jens looks like he didn't even realize it happened. He's all business.

This is driving me crazy. I swear that the incident with the borrowed bike referred to by Kentiger earlier was in the Tour de Langkawi. I believe it was David George who borrowed a Colnago from a spectator (same as what his team rode) on a climb. Luckily the bike had pedals that fit his cleats. He went on to defend the leader's jersey that day and eventually win the overall (2006). Believe me I tried to research this (to no avail before posting). Please, if some one can link to a description of the incident, I would love to put my mind to rest.

That's it. Michael Rogers the Tour Down Under not David George Tour de Langkawi. At least I had the right part of the world and a guy with two first names. Thank you, my mind can now rest.

What's up with the black electrical tape around the valve stem? Why is this used?

I remember watching that on TV - Tour Down Under...breakaway..kind of on the outskirts of town with like 5k to go and there were only about 3 folks on the side of the road - one of them just happened to have that Colnago with the same pedals and it was the right size. When he took off on that borrowed bike the seat height was way off and there was a kit bag under the seat kinda swayin' in the breeze. Then camera cut away to the chase pack and when it came back to lead group the team car had pulled up, removed the bag and adjusted the seat.

An amazing set of circumstances.

I was there the day Michael Rogers got the replacement bike from a spectator. He was very lucky to have not only a spectator with the bike but one with the same pedals! Later on, he had the team mechanic come along side in the car to adjust the seatpost up as it was a bit short for Rogers.

No, but I believe Fishman has been on the roads with him up in Reno. I do know one of the mechanics for CSC. Nice to see you are being your dickish self Martin.

Interestingly, it only took me like 60 seconds with Google to find the story. I think the keywords I used were bike, race, and spectator.

I was hoping for Eastern though. :)
