ergomo® ready for a new approach in the USA
SG Sensortechnik GmbH & Co KG President Matthias A Gartner announces that the company is in the finalising stage of further building up the No 1 Power Meter, ergomo, in the USA and Canada.
After being launched in early 2006, ergomo became the most sold Power Meter worldwide within hardly 2 years. ergomo is now being sold in more then 35 countries.
Initially ergomo started to be distributed in the USA and Canada by GITA Sporting Goods. "GITA did a quite good job initially when they started with ergomo in North America due to their experience in selling bikes and textiles" says ergomo President Matthias A. Gartner "However to be longterm succesful with a high tech product like ergomo you would need to do much more then just distributing/selling ergomo. You will need to constantly coach and train your customers and the final consumer how and why to use ergomo. In addition you need to teach and explain why is it so important to install ergomo according to the specification of the manufacturer. Furtheron it is essential to give the customers an appropriate support and service not only to sell and install ergomo but also an excellent after sales service."
In order to make sure that all of the above will actually happen SG Sensortechnik GmbH & Co KG headquartered in Germany decided on November 08, 2007 to terminate the contract with GITA.
Since then the german manufacturer of ergomo is reconsidering how to better service the largest Power Meter market in the world.
Past experiences ergomo customers had, where GITA was not able to provide adequate service due to out off stock scenarios or not being deeply enough involved in the coaching/training environment should have never happened. All customers and consumers who purchased an ergomo deserve first class attention, service and understanding !
"Of course all companies are sales and profit driven, but to build up a totally new market segment with a proven succesful product like ergomo, you will need to invest in service, training and communication" says Matthias A Gartner, "Profits may come a bit later then normally but will come for sure."
Especially having a higher then normal defect rate at the very first deliveries in Spring/Summer 2006 of roughly 12 - 15 % the USA market should have received much more attention and service.
As this return rate has been reduced substantially since 2007 due to improved electronics and software ergomo is now getting in shape for 2008.
The new ergomo team for USA and Canada will be announced shortly !
Ergomo is going to assemble young and experienced industry professionals who understand the ergomo philosophy and concept.
"We are not in the market to make the quick buck and run away. We moved into the North American market to stay there and build up another fabulous german/american success story, companies like Porsche and BMW did before. We are in the US market to learn a lot and to explain our concepts. We are confident that our future partners will understand that." says Gartner.
In the meantime until the new organisation is in place all service/sales/marketing issues will be handled directly by the german HQ of ergomo.
