I recently bought an older QR. How can I determine when it was built?

Although the new QRs are super nice also, the old QR Kilo Private Reserve with the fairing behind the head tube and the internally routed rear brake cable (most were yellow, some are black) was such an incredible, incredible bike. I had two. I LOVED that bike. I wish I still had one. Remember the QR Redstone? That was a hot bike. Very rare. Ultimate sex. Stupid fast too.

What is it about the Redstone that would make it so fast?

Fairing in the rear and super stiff down tube.

personally, i felt that it was a pretty fast bike. but it was never tested. i wish i had that bike now, i'd probably race it.

it also had an underneath-mounted rear brake caliper, and a fairly fancy way of internally routing cables. all cables were hidden. lots of surface area.

unless you know something empirical i don't about this bike being worse than i think it was, i'm sticking to my story.

Well you can still get a new one if you like. TriTech's had one for sale in their shop for about 3 years now. ;)

We didn't sell a ton of those- very few actually. But we did sell a few and they were pretty cool. Never owned one but I liked it.
