I'm looking up tickets for Bruce right now. Damn, those are not free.

I'm beginning to think that we are much more fucked than I thought.

Bust and boom.

Crowded House was bumped to May 2023 as a band member was sick (I guess)

Went to New Order / Pet Shop Boys on October 8 at the Hollywood bowl. No mask as it was outdoors but we also took the bus. 10/10 started feeling ill 10/11 tested + for the first time. Just got over that plus a rebound. Literally nowhere else I could have gotten it but the 3 folks I was with didn’t. /shrug

The ironic (?) thing is that New Order suuuuucked. PSB were pretty good tho

Added Brandi Carlisle New Year’s Eve in Portland OR so flying there

I know it’s 2023, but figured I need to see Bruce before he dies, so seeing him, also in Portland in Feb.

And my wife really wants to see Joni Mitchell at the Gorge in June, so trying to decide how much I want to spend on the secondary market. Supposed to be a great venue but lodging is a bitch (camping not an option)

Crowded House are one of only two bands on the current schedule for me in 2023 (Pepper being the other - they're doing a 'Twenty Years of Kona Town' tour and playing at the same venue I first saw them... twenty years ago!)

No they are not. And it’s this stupid “dynamic pricing” of Ticketmaster. But i justify it by thinking of the money I didn’t spend on Bruce concerts /eye roll

It’s weird that he is not hitting LA this leg, so we have to fly and see him.

We just bought tickets. For reference I was looking up other concerts of people you know but aren't wild about seeing. The cheapest tickets to see Styx at a casino, 3rd to last row, are $87 and the cheapest tickets for Nickelback in New Jersey are $95. I guess I need to completely reset what I think concert tickets should go for.

I'm of two minds on the dynamic pricing. One is it really jacks up ticket prices. The other, at least the jacked up ticket money goes to the artist and not s ticket broker that gobbled up 100 seats in the first minute and a half.

I'm beginning to think that we are much more fucked than I thought.

As an aside, Styx is really good live. But I would not pay that price for those seats

But I wouldn’t put Styx and Bruce in the same category as far as what the show is supposed to be like, or access. Seems Styx is touring every summer and comes around a couple times a year so there is a lot more available exposure.

IMO < $100 is nothing if it’s someone I want to see. I got Brandi Carlisle in Portland for $96 which is a steal for where she is at (if you like her)

Looking forward to seeing Bruce and what the hype is all about

Just saw Rhiannon Giddens, Amythyst Kia, Allison Williams and Layla McCall do songs of our native daughters at Carnegie Hall.

Musically jaw dropping even if, if I'm honest, the venue and crowd didn't fit. Giddens is probably one of my favorite active musicians but everyone on stage was spectacular.

I paid to see Dropkick Murphys earlier this year. As usual/expected, it was a great, high energy show.

I got to see Don Felder, Sugar Ray and Green Day for free this year.

Don Felder opened for Green Day during RAGBRAI this year. Don played some great Eagles songs.

Mark McGrath self-depracating sense of humor made for a really good show.

"I'm bring back the '90s and frosted tips while pointing at his graying hair.
Another RAGBRAI performer was Viva Knievel, a cover band out of Minneapolis. They did a great job as well.

Green Day was the Friday concert at Formula 1. Billy Joe Armstrong was able to insult Texas in such a way that we all laughed. But he might have been right, you know.

All the @Ticketmaster tweets would NOT be funny if she hadn't gotten in

Anyone remember actually camping out for tickets? The last time I did that [sort of] was Bowie's Glass Spider Tour where - after being up all night drinking, and other things, and had a load of excess cash in my pocket - I went down to The Vet at 6AM and got in line for the Box Office to open at 10AM or something

IIRC the last time I personally slept out for tickets was on Main St. in Moorestown, for The Cure. Maybe 1993? I didn’t even go to the show, just picked them up for a friend-with-benefits.

Had a good time though, hanging out in a parking lot drinking Old Milwaukee or some equivalent horse piss.

Wow. I just paid $150 per ticket for GA to see them next Tuesday in Seattle, that was for a standard (not resale) ticket price with fees.

I never camped out for tix, but did cut class sometimes to drive 30 minutes since to the nearest tm box office. This was mid to late 90s. I think for phish they started doing lotteries to discourage folks from camping overnight.
I do miss saving physical ticket stubs.

Black Flag, TSOL, and the Dickies next week in Denver. Saw TSOL earlier this year and ended up rupturing my bicep tendon. Will stay away from the mosh pit this time.

Social D in December in Anaheim.

DMB last week. Small venue, fun show. Dave covered Peter Gabriel's Sledgehammer. Was absolutely great.

Always enjoy a good concert cover of a song I like, but now love because of the association.

Fear not, they got me on parking - $45 !!! Although I am questionable on tonite, for several reasons - I'm old, another $45, last nite's seats were better and it was such a great show I wouldn't want tonite to be worse re setlist etc. Did I mention the old part? LOL

Great show though. Unless you are going to camp at the front of the main stage, place yourself either right in front of or near the center of the B stage, facing the main stage. You'll get some good on floor action by Win and Regine

Didn't see a 2023 thread, so dropping it here.

Saturday flew LAX to Portland to see Springsteen for the first time (he subsequently announced a couple LA shows after I bought tickets). So, folks have been asking "You haven't seen Springsteen?" incredulously and saying I had to go. SO I figured it's a bucket list thing, and oh my god, one of the best shows I've ever seen, and I'm mostly a casual fan. Did brush up on the setlist songs so they'd be more familiar. I have never seen an arena full of people so commonly invested in the music like that. Incredible energy and really great musical arrangements.
