We don’t want CDC guidance to be a reason why people don’t reopen their schools

Trump didn't say this...

Of course Pence did.. here is the full qoute.

THE VICE PRESIDENT: And let me also say, CDC, from as early as March, issued guidance for — for safely operating schools and has been issuing additional guidance since then. And later this week, we anticipate that Dr. Redfield and the team at CDC will issue additional guidance for parents, for the operation of facilities. But to be very clear: We don’t want CDC guidance to be a reason why people don’t reopen their schools; that we’re going to respect whatever decisions are made on campuses like this, across the state of Louisiana.
All of us — all of us are going to put the health of our kids, of our faculty, and families first. But as the governor said, we believe we can do this. We know that the risk the coronavirus presents to people under the age of 18 is very low. But we also want to make sure that we have measures in place that protect faculty that may be vulnerable and also prevent kids from — from exposing others or bringing home the virus. So, that guidance will continue to be developed and produced, and we’ll be working very closely with states and school systems around the country to implement plans.

Like the decision to "lock down" or "stay open", the decision to have in person school or all online is a tough one.

Healthy kids, whose parents are aware of the risks and want their kids to be in school should have that option.

Parents who are afraid to send their kids to school should have the option to have an online learning system.

Teachers that are afraid to teach in person should have an option to teach only online and not be around kids.

Teachers that want to be in school should have the option to be in school, in person and be around the kids they teach.

At any in person school, desks should be spaced out, kids wear masks, lots of handwashing, staggered passing times, staggered drop off and pick up, cleaning every night, etc etc.

Will have to be done on a local level depending on how many kids want to be in person, how many teachers choose to stay home and the overall level of fear of the virus in that community.

For a district that hasn't had a death in the last 3 months, very few cases, and everyone is will to be in person, they should be in person.

For a district in the middle of Houston, if kids and teacher want to do online, that should be available.

Is this Pence of the same White House that recently said the initial CDC guidance on schools reopening safely was "too tough" and that they should go back to the drawing board?

So now they are simply saying the CDC guidance should not be used at all?

Do I have that right?

Is this the same White House that issued re-opening guidelines in April, and then a day later undercut them by calling for states to be "Liberated?"

Is this in the same country where we are having a massive outbreak of the virus, which would probably have been avoided if the April re-opening guidelines had been followed?

It's the same administration, doctors, scientists and leaders that have presided over the worst response in the world, except Brazil. Leave it to the local communities to figure out what they want to do. Don't need anymore useless advice from these leaders, scientists or doctors in this administration.
