From your link: "The criminal investigation into the cause of the fire is separate from several other inquires on how the Navy and other agencies effectively battled the blaze. A command investigation into the details of the fire fighting effort is due out in September."
That a 19 year old seaman apprentice started a fire on a Sunday morning in port homeport with only a duty section aboard is not the story here. My guess as to why it was so bad? The fire suppressant system installed for that space was red tagged out of commission but yet the flammable materiel was not removed. This is the real story here. I'll wait till September when they place fault with the senior officers aboard. They are the ones ultimately responsible for the current surplus of steel for razor blade construction.
Don't think this was your Navy nor my Navy.
