Happy Monday, all!

My week last week was both frustrating and nice, haha. Nice, in that when I looked at my workouts my coach had written 'recovery week!' and I was all "Uhhhh, I've basically been in offseason base training for 3 months, I get a recovery week from that?" I guess this means it's time to start building.

It was also frustrating because I seem to be no closer to answers on some of my medical crap that's going on. The most concerning for me is that my feet have been constantly tingling since the summer (like pins and needles that won't go away. Not painful, but annoying AF sometimes). I had an EMG that showed my primary nerves are fine, but there's some questionable points in my feet where they branch to my secondary nerves, which the EMG can't test. So the answer is "Maybe neuropathy? We don't know? And we don't know how to stop it." I followed up with my doctor who wanted to try me on Gabapentin to see if that would help, and send me to a neurologist. I started Gabapentin, but I can't get in to a neuro until the end of April. So....I wait? I did ask to be sent to a diabetes educator, given the fact that I've gone from insulin resistant to pre-diabetic, and I'm not interested in that progressing any further. He was super awesome about that, and got the referral in right away.

Other than that, I'm plugging away with work, which seems busier than normal, and life.

Plan for this week:
Mon - 1:20 ride/15' brick (first brick since my tri season ended in September!)
Tues: Swim test
Wed: 40' run/strength
Thurs: 2500 swim
Fri: 1:30 ride and strength
Sat: 60' run and strength

Also.... MY NEW BIKE IS COMING TODAY!!!!!!! :-)

Ahhhh new bike day!!!! Wheeeeeeee! Sorry about the health problems. I hope the Gabapentin works for you. It has helped a bunch of my friends who suffer from various maladies.

I'm ok. Busy with work--I'm chairing a search committee and we have candidates coming in for the next few weeks. So, it's wall-to-wall meetings and such (9 am to 9 pm today!), and fitting in the rest of work around that.

I did everything I was supposed to last week. This week, I'm off to a bad start, as I didn't make it to the pool on time today. I actually did make it to the pool, on this crazy busy day, patted meself on the back, and then remembered a meeting I had forgotten and had to leave straight away. So. Yay.

M-Swim (nope) + pushups
T-Rest (now a swim day + pushups if possible)
W- bike and strength
Th - run sprints and plank
F-swim, CSS test
Sat-Ride and strength
Sun-long run

Happy Monday, Ladies!

Thanks for getting us started, Dr. TC. I hope you had a good week with everything going on.

I cannot wait to see pics of the new sexiness Bae!

Last week's goal was to run a bunch, and I did! The workouts were manageable last week, with one phenomenal swim and one long run where I had to dig REAL hard to get 5 miles in at HM pace. I've been fighting off a cold that apparently turned into full-blown manflu with the hubs, so that's been fun.

This week's goal is also to run a bunch, and get to the front of the line for the taper slide.

M- 4mi run, 2350yd swim, strength (trifecta of nailed it). I'm currently sitting at the car dealership waiting for my car to get serviced, for like two hours. Whee.
Tu- 47min run
W- 13mi run, which I will inevitably make 13.1 miles because HALF MARATHON
Th- 1hr Zwift and strength. I also have a tri team season kickoff happy hour event to attend
F- 2350yd swim. Which is the same as Monday. Which my coach has totaled as 2570 for some reason even though I'll be swimming in a SCY pool. Which makes no sense. I also have a cycling club happy hour to host.
Sa- 80min ride and 4.5mi run brick
Su- yoga

Thanks for getting us started Dr TC. How was your week?

My goals were: swim x 3, bike x 3, run x 3, core x 2. I got it all done! I also had a great weekend with my mother and introduced her to parkrun. There was lots of indulging so this week will need to involve some more fruit and vegetables prior to Dan's birthday shenanigans next weekend. I've been a bit snuffly the last couple of days so hoping I'm not coming down with anything.

This week: swim x 3, bike x 3, run x 4 (1 done), core x 2 (1 done).

Hi ladies,

I'm still here, still ticking along, still looking for a new job, still divorcing my husband. It's been a bit of an emotionally trying time and honestly, I'm just tired. All of my training has gone completely out of the window, but I did start back up with my coached swim group where I'm pleased to have not lost too much ground, and walked a very nice, head-clearing mile on the beach yesterday. One success is that I finally wrote my marketing paper and passed the course, so now onto Quantitative Business Analysis, which is far more to my interest.

Plan for the week is to try and ease back into doing something, anything. Eat real food. Get on my bike and Zwift. Whatever it takes to feel like a human being again.

Happy week, everyone! (Also, new bike pics are a mandatory requirement....!!)

I'm okay. I am having a very roller-coaster week of emotions because I am waiting for some job-related news, don't know when it will come, and am ANXIOUS AF. I have gotten some small breaks from the anxiety from workouts, which is good... and reading, and a beer last night... kinda just hanging on...

I got a cold at the end of last week and am still getting over it. This has been sucky. I am super proud of myself for taking Saturday off :-) in all honesty it wasn't too hard to do because I. Felt. Awful.

M: 4.2 mi run + 725 yd swim + 3.5 mi run
T: 7.1 mi run + 375 yd swim
W: 4.2 mi run + 525 yd swim
T: 6.2 mi run + 275 yd swim
F: 4 mi run + 625 yd swim + 3.5 mi run
S: OFF!!!!!!!!!! ***overly pleased with self***
S: 7.2 mi run + 400 yd swim

totals 39.9 mi run and 2925 yd swim, ALSO A FULL DAY OFF ;-)

I give myself a B on the "keep running under control" goal. That is fewer miles than I usually run, by a couple.

My goals on Monday were to swim more this week. Then I didn't swim yesterday or today. So SWIM LOTS FOR THE REST OF THE WEEK.

I am going to a conference next week and I'm anxious about that too :-(

IronScholar, I'm sorry you have to wait so long to see a specialist :-( that's a thing it would be good if we could fix about our healthcare system.

I hope the new bike is awesome! What'd you get?

Hiring seasons are always so crazy. I hope it involves some good food for you - I consider that one of the perks of interviewing, or hosting interviewees!

I can't imagine the mental and emotional exhaustion of a divorce. Just wanted to let you know that I hear you and know that feeling is totally valid.

Depends on your definition of "good." I did just turn down cake, an extremely rare event in my life that indicates exactly what's already in my belly (hint: it starts with a "c" and ends with a "ake").

Thanks for getting us started Dr. Tigerchik. Good luck managing your anxiety and at the conference.

My goals last week were:
3 swims, 5 bikes, and 4 runs (including a run that ought to give me a good sense on how the 13.1 will go).

I only swam twice (ugh, again) but my little test run did help me figure out where to pace for my half marathon on the 23rd ... and CRAP. That's this weekend :|

I wouldn't call this week a taper exactly but I'll be getting to Sunday with fresher legs than I usually do.

My goals are:
3 swims, 4 bikes, and 5 runs including the race -- plus my usual p/rehab and yoga. Also, not to freak out about the race.

I hope everyone has a great week though I know things aren't easy for all at the moment.

I'm thinking of you UK2ME, I know that's not easy.

Hugs and highfives to all, happy training.

I finally swam this morning. All of 425 yards but it felt good and just the routine of being in the pool made me feel better.

I got the news I was waiting for, and knowing the result has helped ease my anxiety. I feel like I am emotionally exhausted but coming out of it. I did an EXCELLENT job with self care yesterday and I'm doing a good job today. I have reached out to people in real life... in other words pulling out all the stops to keep self healthy and safe.
