Bit of an FYI Post

Not much clearance for a Shimano Ultegra 50/34 crankset. About 1mm at the 50t and the chainstay, and also between the chainring bolts and the BB shell.

edit to add: After a particularly muddy ride (we have a sticky, clay-rich, soil), my bike is now slightly lighter than it was previously.

Paint worn to bare carbon (in a small spot) from mud ON the chainring bolt.

No structural damage, and technically no interference directly from the bolt / chainring.

I've ridden them a few time on a puffy MTN bike trail and all is good. Overall the geometry, light weight, fit,
and spec have added up to one awesome bike.

Just more of an FYI for people reading this. I put a SRAM Force AXS 1x on my Aspero and Cervelo said the biggest chainring is a 44T. I put that on and had ~2 mm of clearance. It was too close for me so I went with a 42T. It gave me another ~1 mm of clearance. It's still not much but provides a bit more confidence.

Whelp I sprung for the Apex 1 in Olive. Arrived last week, so took it for a 15 and 40 mile ride this weekend, the longer of which was out in Round Top, TX with lots of rolling hills and chipseal, even some gravel sections. I replaced the Donnelley tires with the 30/32 Roubaix tires and slapped on my own saddle, but other than that it was stock. I ran 25c latex tubes at about 60-65 psi; I will eventually go tubeless but there was not enough time to get familiar with the system before Sunday's ride, so I just packed extra tubes instead.

Great bike, loved how is mellowed out the chipseal to feel like regular pavement, and how buttery the regular/smooth tarmac felt. I was on the fence about 1x but honestly did not feel like I missed a front ring. I spun out on a few downhills but that was >25 mph so I just took the opportunity to coast a bit. I may look into a 42t front ring in the future. Honestly I would like to add a crank based power meter but am kind of confused as to 1x compatibility with the quarq spiders.

Any idea if these bikes are sold out/selling out? Saved up enough cash over the past couple months, called up a local bike shop and was told they're sold out over the phone (58cm). Does Cervelo push out more of these bikes throughout the year or once they finish production, that's the amount of product available for the year?

I could not find one in Texas with my trim/size/colour and had to order online through inCycle Bicycles in Cali. They were great, I had it shipped free and arrived in 3 days

Just an update.

I've since switched out the Ultegra Crankset for a SRAM Force / Dub crankset and there is much more clearance.

Good review from CyclingTips: Gravel Field Test

I'm still very pleased with this bike.
