Riding in Tulsa?
We are heading to Tulsa in 2 weeks. In-laws family .... 10 adults and 8 kids under 4 in the house for 7 days.

I know nothing about Tulsa, don't know anyone who has ever been to Tulsa, but do need to bring a bike so I have a bit of sanity.

Can anyone suggest:
1) Road bike or Mountain bike? Maybe I could rent a gravel bike locally if that's better
2) Routes? 1-3 hours ideally. We are staying on the SE side of the city, near where 365 / 169 come together.
3) fast AM group rides that I could maybe join in on

Any tips for riding in tulsa overall would be appreciated.

Tulsa has great bike trails along the riverparks trail system, starting or ending at NSU in Broken Arrow and going downtown and back over Turkey Mountain. Also gravel trails on Turkey Mountain for mountain biking. If you want to jump in a group ride, contact Buster Brown at Bixby Bikes 918-943-6700. They have 3 or 4 groups that head out for different levels from an A -race group on down.

Turkey Mountain has some of the best mountain biking you will find. I went there 3-4 times a week in college and it never got old, just endless trails. Road biking there are trails that go down riverside all the way out to Sapulpa.

The West side of the river has some issues from the flooding, they had a bunch of material on the trail past the power plant, may be able to find a way around, but we just turned around. I believe the trail is also closed by the Riverspirit Casino. This may have all been fixed since Tulsa Tough, but just want you to be aware.

We also did a ride out towards Sand Springs, which apparently is a popular route. Not heavily trafficked, shoulder most of the way. Route here: https://www.strava.com/activities/2429000056

Would you recommend mountain biking instead of road biking?

At least on road bike I can get out the door and go, it would be harder for me to do mtn bike at turkey mountain BC I have to drive there everyday

There is a large group ride held by Young Life that leaves from the Riverwalk in Jenks. Start time is 7:00am. There are multiple groups of varying paces. The "breakaway" group (over 20mph pace) is doing 44-ish miles this week. You can easily add additional miles before and/or after the ride by riding on the river trails. PM me if you want additional info.

That ride looks great.

Turns out we arrive Saturday PM and leave the following Saturday AM - so I’ll miss that ride

Do you know of any other weekday AM rides? The bixby Ride looks good, but I will probably not be able to ride in the evenings
