Tri Suit

I'm looking at getting a new tri suit and I'm wondering what the pros and cons are for one piece vs two piece suits as well as sleeves vs sleeveless.

Also, what brands would you recommend? What brands would you avoid completely?

My understanding is sleeves are not allowed in some races.

You must not have raced in a while. Its been legal going on year 2 now. Anything elbows up is allowed

My opinion:

1 piece is more comfortable
sleeves look dumb
Kiwami or Desoto are great brands. Good quality, good customer service.

Pros of each:

One piece:
More comfortable; no waistband
No gap in the tramp stamp area while on the bike

Two piece:
Easier to make a quick "nature break"
You can get two different sizes if your proportions require it.

I still have sleeveless suits but my next one will have sleeves. I believe you stay cooler with your shoulders covered but some might argue against that. It is kind of like running shirtless on a hot day vs. with a shirt...I think a shirt keeps you out of the sun and cooler.

My De Soto Sleeved top does not ride up.

Have to ask why you mention wetsuits when the OP and everyone else is talking about tri-suits?

I won't comment on the pros/cons of sleeves, but I will say that my new Castelli All Out sleeved suit is the bomb. I was looking specifically for longer sleeves and these ones are perfect. The whole thing fits like a second skin but is very flexible and absolutely disappears during all three disciplines.

I have tried Kiwami and DeSoto in the past and they are probably good in their own right, but I found them to be neither as breathable or flexible. YMMV.
