It's a matter of what fits your feet well. I've worn T-1s for the past six years and have been very happy with them, but I would have gone with Carnac if they'd been more comfortable for my odd-shaped feet and would have looked further if neither fit.

I love my T-1's very much. They fit my feet well and are of high quality. Sidi shoes last a long long time. If they fit your feet, go for it. You won't be disappointed.

The nice thing about SIDIs is that they come in a wide size. This doesn't mean that if you have wide feet you should get SIDIs. It means that if you have narrow or normal feet, you should get regular SIDIs because they don't make their show wide enough to fit everyone as does Carnac. Carnac makes a very nice shoe, which I use, but makes them too wide for most people. My tri shoe is a Carnac and my road shoe is a SIDI.

I used Carnacs for 2 years, mail order. As I learned more about biking, I realized they were to wide. (I have a narrow foot.) I went to my lbs and ended up with Sidi Genuis. They fit like a glove. So far I love them. Because I don't worry about a few seconds lost at the transitions, I went with the three buckles. I like the little rachet gizmo that lets me tighten them even on the bike.

I've looked into these shoes, and ended up passing on them. I love the way most Sidi's fit me, and my next shoes will likely be a pair. My feet are quite large though (47 - 48) and I was not a fan of the T1. In the larger sizes the velcro straps are separated by a long distance and I found the upper deformed a little too much for my liking. This is only an issue for the largest sizes though, so it may not apply to you.

after trying a bunch of shoes I bought SIDI's and have never looked back. They are the standard by which all others are judged.

If you are doing sprint or Olympic distance exclusively... get T1's. If you are going longer... just get the model that supports you foot best. 112 mile ride is a long time to suffer with shoes made for quick transition.
