Who's got the shot?
Anyone been vaccinated yet? I know we have some front-line people here, so thought a thread of experiences may be in order.

I have not (I'm very low on the priority scale), but Honey did yesterday, 12/16, around 2:15 pm eastern.

So far, so good: no adverse/allergic reactions (was her main concern, H1N1 caused her all sorts of problems), shot sight wasn't sore or swollen last night. Said she actually felt great last night (might have been the cosmos...).

She gets to sleep in today so we'll see but so far she's good. Anyone else?

Edit:
1st shot: 12/16 Pfizer 3:30 pm
Side affects: tender at the shot site and scapula the next morning; the following afternoon she had abnormal and extreme fatigue. Since then, nothing at all.

2nd shot: 1/6 Pfizer 4:30 pm
Side affects: arm very sore at the shot site that evening and continuing the next morning; fatigue set in that evening, said she felt like she could have slept the rest of the day this morning.

Dizziness, fatigue, achy, and chills was how she described the symptoms mid-morning the next day. Early afternoon the same day: add mild shortness of breath and dry mouth.

I've read that the adverse reactions are more likely after the second needle.

Hopefully I will get mine next month. We have to give the yay or nay to my agency by next Wednesday so they have the proper allotment.

I am high priority because I take care of nursing home and work in hospital. But our area has very few cases (500 out of 100K people so far). Plus in Canada so we are not getting much vaccine yet. I figure maybe I will get it in first week of January and likely the Moderna vax. For the forseeable future I would have to travel 100 KM to get the pzifer shot.

Fellow fed in the executive branch but don't see getting one anytime soon. I can see some in our agency as being high priority, but my work can all be done remotely. We haven't gotten any emails yet about signing up.

A friend is an ER doc in the Denver area and she's getting it today. Will follow-up on her experience. Here's what she posted last night.

Honey says the injection spot is a little sore this morning, enough that she took some ibuprofen. But other than that, so far, so good.

She said she was around the 21st in her hospital to receive it. Small hospital, I grant you, but I wasn't quite aware of how close she was considered to the front lines! Frankly, she said that neither did she!

4 of my partners have had it in the past 2 days. Trivial local discomfort in 2, nothing in the others. I'm scheduled for next Wed.

The CDC and my hospital have encouraged us to enroll in V-safe for tracking safety for those who have gotten the vaccine.

https://www.cdc.gov/...es/safety/vsafe.html

Lots of good info now out there on the CDC website

I will update after I get it.

Get mine on Saturday. I was originally getting on Tues. but everyone in my state thought we were getting, one day earlier than actual date. My group is staggering so I was initially first but with cancellation and rescheduling, I'm last.

3 of my colleagues and one of my friends got it today. No complaints from anyone so far. All but 1 are working tomorrow so we shall see. Only one is actually doing direct patient care and on call... but I'm backing her up.

Dunno if this is anything, but Honey hit a massive wall this afternoon. Said she was practically falling asleep standing up. She had today off so wasn't like she had overexerted herself (she was cooking and baking, I did the majority of the shoveling).

Probably nothing but we'll see what tomorrow brings...

For those who have asked about side effects from the vaccine, I am about 24 hours out from my injection and so far, I have some mild soreness at the injection site and in the deltoid muscle, similar to tetanus shots in the past. Otherwise, I feel perfectly fine. Second shot is supposed to have more of a noticeable response, but I won’t know that for sure for another 3 weeks.

Got it yesterday.

I've talked to a couple of dozen of my colleagues: worst side effect was fever/shaking chills-much improved after she took tylenol; several with body aches-minor; a couple with diffuse arm aching, few with a mild headache, one just felt really 'tired' and the vast majority with local discomfort at injection site. The pain was a tad worse than the flu shot and not as bad as the shingles vaccine.

My arm was much more sore than with the flu shot (~3/10). I took tylenol and later advil. No fever but it was sore to the touch and hurt sleeping on it. I'm a baby with any shot, though.

This morning (~24 hrs out), it's still sore, but much less (~1/10). Now feels more like when I had the flu shot and I didn't notice anything by the end of the day.

To be fair: at least 4 or 5 people said they had absolutely no issues.

I'm told from the ID folks that the risk of bigger side effects is greater with the second shot.

Posting on social media that people got the shot is irritating. Especially as there is typically not enough to go around.

I feel it creates resentment—which is disappointing.

I don’t know how anyone would feel resentful toward a healthcare worker posting their experiences with the vaccine on social media. I appreciate the posts that show getting vaccinated is a positive.

I don't know when I'll get the shot. I'm employed in an essential business, we supply industrial repair and primary manufacturing to ag and petroleum. We work in an environment that close contact is a necessity yet we're not even in consideration. An infection at our shop could literally shut down the ag segment for a 70x50 square mile area. For you Canucks that's a lot of beef, pork, chickens, eggs and milk that will disappear from the supply chain simply because of an inability to repair equipment.

They reported long term care should be getting doses this week from what was in the paper. They are still trying to locate non-hospital affiliated healthcare workers- but many of those fall under 1B. My volunteer firefighter friends got offered shots this week. So they are definitely moving into 1b while they work on closing out 1a. Are you hearing different- cause I’ve been pretty optimistic?

Sorry for the slow response. I have heard mixed things. On the plus side, my dentist said their office got shots last week. A friend (MD) already got his second (Pfizer) shot. On the other hand, a friend’s mom in a nursing facility has not had hers yet. So, it seems more like they moved some folks up, rather than completing the first group before moving to the second.

The county website says that for the general population they have contracted with 12 national pharmacy chains. That was discouraging, as I’d hoped for some partnership where the county is putting in its own resources, too. I spoke to a vaccine person at CVS who had no idea how they are going to do this.

It will be interesting to see whether the county can make good progress with new vaccinations, now that they are doing the second shots for the initial group.

7 in my office got Moderna 24 hours ago.
7 sore arms today. Woke twice last night, but my daughter had punched my arm last evening, not realizing I’d had a shot. Could actually move better than my coworkers today, so maybe that’s the secret! The other 6 were just sore, (still cross country skied and biked today for 2 of them.)

4 of my friends got Pfizer a couple weeks ago. Sore arm is universal, but one had no other symptoms, one a headache , one just slept harder and longer than normal, and the 4th felt “off”, like a hangover. Only the day after, normal since.

Got 2nd shot this morning (Pfizer). Feel absolutely fine. A little soreness, similar to first shot.

I know this thread is generally preaching to the choir, but I can not overstate what a relief this has been. Despite being healthy and in theory low risk, I now fully appreciate the low level anxiety I have been carrying around for the past 9 months. I still take every precaution for myself, and my family. But the weight lifted off is palpable.

I so look forward to this for all of you as soon as possible.

Can I ask you folks that have got the vaccination already (hope it's not intruding too much, and obvs just say so if it is, no offence will be taken)... I'm curious as to the 'prioritising' in your county / State (I'm assuming, maybe incorrectly, you're in the USA) and how some of you folks have gotten it already. Eg are you medical staff, or Forces, or a carer of someone old, etc ?
I'm in UK and the prioritisation is
1 residents in care homes for older adults and their carers
2. 80-year-olds and over and frontline health and social care workers
3. 75-year-olds and over
4. 70-year-olds and over and clinically extremely vulnerable
5. 65-year-olds and over
6. 16- to 64-year-olds with serious underlying health conditions
7. 60-year-olds and over
8. 55-year-olds and over
9. 50-year-olds and over

My elderly mum got her 1st shot yesterday (in group 2 above). Not the best organised event with too many old folks stood in lines in the freezing cold for way too
long. But done eventually. I'm a way off yet.

I am 49 and went through the VA to get my jab. Though not a veteran, I volunteered (until March 2020) and am considered as an employee. I overheard the nurses complaining about many people canceling or not showing up for appointments so daily quotas are not being made. My appointment was on Tuesday and could have gone in three days earlier because of no-shows.

We're in New Hampshire. Honey runs her CT department at the local hospital, so scans many covid patients each week. 45 years old, in good health.

She was the 21st person jabbed at her hospital.

I will probably get mine sometime in June. Maybe - very low on the priority list.

Ha! Yeah I get that! Hers hit later in the afternoon, around 24 hours post-shot.

Just play early and be relaxing witb a cocktail by then!

So, over 24hrs after the shot. I had minimal soreness at the injection site, didn't keep me awake or anything. Now, about 26hrs after the shot, I don't feel particularly fatigued, although I'm definitely going to blame the vaccine for my shitty scores on the golf course today.

In all seriousness, I had a good front 9, and then a really bad back 9, which started right about at the 24hr mark. Couldn't make good contact, or string two good shots together. 9 holes of,...hey, did I forget how to play golf all of the sudden? Could be related to the vaccine I suppose, but I definitely didn't feel like I was having to drag my ass around the course or anything like that. I'm going to settle in on the couch for some football, and we'll see how the evening goes.

In short, seemingly very minimal symptoms for me.

I’m envious. I can’t wait to get vaccinated but I have absolutely no idea when/where/how it will happen. (I’m in SoCal). I suspect it’s going to be a long while for me and I’d bet good money I’ll get infected before I get vaccinated.

I'm in a similar situation, set to get my first shot on Thursday (1/14). WFH since March 2020, work for University Healthcare, but in research (regulatory) and no direct patient contact. Sounds like they are planning to have ALL University Healthcare employees (regardless of patient contact status) finished with first round by the end of this week. I am grateful to have the opportunity this early on, and am considered "high risk" status (with asthma and high BP), but I feel for those who are waiting anxiously for their turn.

Healthcare worker, mostly non frontline clinical. Many co-workers had covid but a handful of us came out unscathed. Despite the lack of mask rules in the state, the vaccinations are going smoothly. Got my card for the second jab and a letter from health dept reminding me to show up for that appointment. Hospital has room set up, website to schedule appointments and all. I am surprised it is being tracked that well.

First jab, sore arm. Second jab, sore arm, not enough to prevent me sleeping on it. Was more sore after the flu shot. No other symptoms, zilch. Friend usually spikes a temp with flu shot and he spiked one with the second jab but is now fine.

2nd shot Pfizer Thursday afternoon. Was fine Friday. Went to work, gradually more achy until I felt like I had done a heavy lifting workout all over. I think I had a mild fever Friday night. I went to bed and slept for 10+ hours and am all good this morning.

At 24h postop, soreness at injection site, but no change in ability to function. Woke up feeling a bit fatigued, got my workout (Vasa, Run, Weights) in and was still a bit fatigued. Got to work and my temp is dancing around 100, normally I come in mid 97s.

Not going to take anything to see how this plays out. Maybe i'm just an immunology nerd, but I am enjoying knowing my immune system is having a slobberknocker of a final scrimmage against a hated opponent. Hopefully we will be prepared for the eventual big game.

After the first shot of moderna I was knocked out for a day or two. (Same for wife)

After the second shot l, I got a high fever/chills around 12 hours (midnight) after the shot. These went away by the time I woke up. I was fatigued for the day. My wife had the fever and chills for around 30hours.

The first shot reaction was worse for both of us.

Ok, so from 24h-36h post 2nd shot, my temp gradually climbed from 100F to 103.5F. Concurrent with that I became increasingly fatigued and sluggish. I took 800mg ibu at 36h post shot. Fever was normal 90 minutes later and I woke up at roughly 48h postop feeling 100%.

72h post shot now and still feeling great. Should reach maximum effect just in time for Daytona!

Not sure how it all relates, but injection site soreness was much worse with the first shot, but i didn’t experience other symptoms.

Ms. Tostig and I both received our 2nd Moderna shot this week. We're not health care workers, 75 years old, or inmates at the state pen so we weren't on the priority list. But relative to other states, New Mexico is doing pretty well getting people vaccinated.

Both of us had sore arms for a day or two after the 1st shot. Both of us felt like we had a mild case of the flu later in the day after the second shot. But we went to bed and woke up feeling fine the day after the 2nd shot. The sore arm went away after a day or two.

I was looking at a graph of when the US will be up to 70% vaccinated.

Some experts have estimated that 70 to 90 percent of the population needs to acquire resistance to the coronavirus to reach herd immunity.

The current projection is that this won't happen until September. Dang, that seems like a long time from now.

I just had my second Pfizer shot. It was kinda weird. I had a noobie-looking nurse who had a trainer watching her. After the jab the nurse asked me if I'm on blood thinners (I'm not). She must have nabbed a capillary. I didn't notice any real bleeding, though, and she put the little bandage on. But then the I got assigned to a special "30-minute watch" zone because apparently the trainer didn't like the look of a little bump on my arm that may have been from the first injection. Then he came out to visit me twice in the waiting area asking me how I was feeling. Maybe my chip had failed to register with the Gates/Soros cloud server?

Anyway, several hours on, no anaphylaxis, about to go for a ride. No symptoms yet.

Got my 2nd Moderna last Friday. Woke up Saturday a little tired, arm a little sore. Planned to spend Saturday around the house figuring I'd get some reaction. Other than being tired and feeling like I wanted to constantly nap all day, I didn't have any other reactions. Woke up Sunday feeling normal. Busy all day, about 4pm stated to get tired again. By Monday was fine.

In laws just got their 2nd Pfizer shot last week. No reactions at all. Was pretty happy, FIL in 81 with a bad heart so was concerned with him. Parents got Moderna last week also, 1st shot, mid 70's. Mother had a sore arm, she only weighs max 100lbs. Nurse said she couldn't find any muscle to jab the needle into. Father had a headache and slight temp for 1 day then back to normal.

My arm is really really sore but it was after the first shot too. I was achy with joint pain in the night. This morning I've been really hot and weak. I had to keep sitting down when I was trying to make my breakfast. My Garmin Venu tracks my body battery. Typically after 7.5 hours of sleep I wake up to a body battery of 80-90 out of 100. Spent the day mostly in bed Netflixing but honestly more because I could than I had to. Arm slightly sore but it was worse the first shot.

Sister and 85 y/o mom / step father got second Moderna. Step father no symptoms at all. Mom and sister same symptoms as me

My sister had Covid end of last year, and her first shot knocked her out. She's a nurse, said others at her hospital all reported the first shot kicks your ass if you had Covid already, but the 2nd one is supposedly minor/nothing. So maybe you will luck out triguy.

My other siblings who didn't get Covid had both shots, 2 of the 3 had pretty bad symptoms after 2nd shot only. My 85 year old dad had no symptoms after either shot.

I just want to be able to get mine! (Rest of family is in health care.)

I got my first shot a few days ago, had a pretty sore arm next day. No other symptoms other than I had two really good days of workouts, so maybe the slipped some of Eddie's breakfast into my needle.

I got the Phizer one, so next shot in 3 weeks on the 14th. Have heard both good and bad about 2nd shot after affects, but mostly none from most people. And funny that old sick people I know had nothing, and young and fit ones got knocked out the next day. But overall I would say a 5 to 1 ratio of nothing to a pretty hard side affect in my little poll...

I got my second shot (Moderna) a little over a week ago. I go extremely sick for 2 days, then perfectly fine. Those two days sucked, but completely worth it. I'm a healthy 38 yr old. My shoulder hurt pretty bad on the first one, only got a very minor fever for about an hour, but nothing besides that. My shoulder was mildly bad on the second that went away after a day, but the side effects mentioned above sucked. Too bad our school policy is if you get Covid by being irresponsible, free 2 weeks of vacation! An adverse effect to the vaccine, tough shit, use your sick days.

I was thinking about the randomness of who gets side affects and who doesn't, and wondered it there is any correlation to those that have bad outcomes to the virus vs those that hardly know they got it? It would be a great study, hope someone actually does it too. If you have a really bad couple days like you did, were you going to be an ICU ventilator patient, or an asymptomatic carrier?

I know early on it was folks that had very strong reactions to the virus that had a hard time, sometimes their own immune systems overwhelming them in the process of fighting the virus. What do the experts here and those that stayed at Holiday Inn's last night think of my hypothesis?

Just got the call I've been waiting for. My parents, in their 80's, have an appointment for their first shots on Sunday. 40% of seniors in WA state have received the vaccine so far. We haven't been in phase 1b that long, so I find the 40% figure encouraging, especially since my folks have been able to secure an appointment.

My wife got her first pfizer shot on Tuesday. Aside from a rather large bump at the injection site she is fine. She said the arm soreness was quite a bit worse then a flu shot. For reference she's a very healthy and fit nurse in her 30's. Second shot is already booked.

Long Chile was a silly place.

I go Tuesday to CVS in Margaretville, NY for my first shot. I have an appointment the the Westchester Center in White Plains for the 6th but it's 2 hours away and it will have a long line

CVS just included a lot of stores to their list. If you know someone who qualifies and is looking, tell them to check the CVS site.

I got the Moderna vaccine on Monday this week. My wife is in high risk group that they are currently vaccinating in state and I'm just a few months away from 65 and also her caregiver so I was able to get it at the same time. I asked for it in my already sore swimmers arm (been sore since November). No symptoms Monday. Tuesday was a spectacular day so I ended up doing 5 workouts (1 swim, 2 runs, 2 bikes). Wednesday I felt bad. Sore, achy, and tired. But not what I'm used to from working out. It felt "different". Slept 10.5 hours Wednesday night. Thursday felt better and did my "normal" 3 workouts. Friday I felt tired again and achy in places I usually don't ache. Hour and 1/2 nap Friday (usually just 30 minutes) and then last night another 10.5 hours. Today I feel better. All I can say is that I definitely felt "different" this week than my "normal" self.

I am doing the Novavax clinical trial. Different vaccine technique than Pfizer / Moderna. I got round one in mid January, round 2 in early February. First antibody draw 10 days ago. Second antibody blood draw April 5.

Round 1 - went to appoint which was long as it was clinical trial and they are collecting blood, history, vitals, etc. got shot around 4pm, then sat for 30 mins waiting for reaction protocol to pass. All was well. Went home and jumped on the trainer. About bed time got a wicked headache and some dizziness. Woke up the next day and had a slightly sore arm, that was it.

Round 2 - TKO Novavax. Holy hell, if that vaccine is anything like Covid, no thanks! Didn't get out of bed. My entire body hurt and was exhausted, muscles, joints, everything hurt. My eyeballs burned. My head hurt. Getting up to pee was a chore and no amount of water or advil made it better. Honestly miserable. Woke up about midnight soaked in sweat after being freezing all day. Had to change my sheets and pjs. Friday morning, still felt a bit crappy but by lunch time I was considering a run.

Yes, I'm in a clinical trial so I could have gotten placebo, but after shot 2, there is no way those side-effects were a figment of my imagination. As athletes, we know our bodies, and as a famous cyclist would say, that reactions was "not normal". I have 10 friends in the trial here as well, and all the ladies were KO'ed by the second shot.

I will be unblinded this spring once results are released and / or Pfizer / Moderna is offered, but I will still be part of the trial no matter what. Novavax knows they cannot ask us to go 18 months without a qualified vaccine.

Novavax UK results so far are 95% against the regular Rona, 85% against UK variant, and 60% against SA variant. I'm pretty psyched I did this. Plus I'm getting paid about $1000 for it. win win

Got our first shots a couple of weeks ago at Petco park. Shoulder was a bit sore just like w/ other vaccinations. About 24 hours later we both felt just a bit cold or flu like in the afternoon. Woke up next day feeling just fine. Was supposed to get second shot on the 3rd but got a message in mychart that because of delays it was moved out till March 7. Already expected that based on the daily news talking about Petco being closed for a few days.

Got 2nd dose this evening. Qualified as a health-care worker due to living with my sister with Down Syndrome, but in OC, today was the first official day that school employees also qualified to get vaccine, so I had that in my back pocket in case they gave me any issues about documentation today (3 people had to look at my documentation before I was a approved to get the first dose).
Only side effects from 1st dose of Pfizer was sore arm near shot location, very similar to how I react when getting a tetanus shot, or sometimes with the flu shot.
Everyone in my household is now vaccinated except my sister, and she finally qualifies on March 15th.

My wife and I go to Westchester at noon today. 25 minutes away and I've heard they get you in and out in no time. Woot!

Update - County Center process was seamless - whole thing took 45 minutes, including waiting 15 minutes after the shot. No line per se, more like a steady stream of moving 6 feet from one spot on the floor to the next after a 2 minute review of registration documents. Easy, peasy. Round 2 scheduled (3/26) as soon as the needle was out of my arm.

I got the first Moderna shot on Wednesday at 11 am (female, in my 40s, with asthma). Felt mostly fine the rest of the day - a slight headache and a mildly sore arm, plus a bit of insomnia at night. Thursday was a recovery day - felt fine except for the sore arm.

I tried a tempo workout this morning - nothing too aggressive, but ended up shortening the workout. I didn't feel awful, but I did feel a bit off - similar to how I sometimes feel when on the backside of a cold or not quite recovered from a race. Since I was doing the workout less than 48 hours after the shot, this wasn't totally surprising.

Wifey and I both got the second shot a few weeks ago. We were dead, or at least I wanted to be dead, for about 6 hours. She felt better about 2 hours before me. It was bad from Friday noon (out of nowhere felt like I got hit by a bus) till about 9pm Friday. Chills, fever, tinnitus, body ache, splitting headache, and even my eyeballs hurt. I was in bed and then around 9pm I opened my eyes and it was gone. I popped out of bed like Grandpa Joe in Willy Wonka. But man that was a rough go of it at work for a few hours. I had to play it off.

Both of my parents in their 70s, dad overweight and diabetic. They had zero issues after their second.

Good to hear. I mean we knew it was temporary and we knew why it was happening. We kind of expected it and we were joking about it all day, as miserable as it was. I liken it to sitting down with your friends and seeing how many of the hottest wings you can eat. It burns and is painful and miserable but you keep laughing about it bc you're going through it together and it won't last. Thats how my wife and I dealt with it most of the afternoon. Best part was our dog knew something was up. He was so gentle and normally he jumps up and down on our spleens.

I've heard what we experienced is what a moderate case of CV19 felt like. I couldn't imagine it lasting longer than a few hours, let alone days/weeks or being in the dark if it will get worse.

My husband and I got the Moderna vaccine yesterday in Vermont. My husband took his Dad (age 82) to get vaccinated who lives 2 hours away last Friday. That Walgreens offered him a shot but he refused saying he wanted to get one with me. He was told to get on a waiting list at our local Walgreens as they might have extras which get thrown away if there are no-shows. So we called and signed up for the waiting list. We got the call yesterday for the vaccines! We were surprised and very happy! I confirmed that we weren't stepping in front of others who need it more than us (we are healthy and in our early 50s). I did feel guilty getting it early but some vaccines are getting thrown out. And the more folks who get vaccinated the more we reduce cases overall. So it's a win win! Call your local Walgreens or CVS or whatever place is doing vaccines to see if they have waiting lists. I know densely populated places might be tougher to get it in. But always worth checking.

I'm feeling a little tired today and both of us have very sore arms. Feels like someone punched me in the arm very hard. We didn't swim with our masters group this morning. Not sure how it will feel swimming by Friday.

Death is easy....peaceful. Life is harder.

Yes, this is why it's worth being more pro-active about this process. Far better to get a vaccine into "an" arm, than be thrown away.

I remember getting blasted with those air gun injectors too--back in the day. I don't know if it was apocryphal or not but word we'd heard was that if you tensed your arm muscle the air guns would blast a hole in your arm? Probably a load of BS?

Apparently, Fort Benning medical has the Pfizer shots so that is what I'll be getting on FRI. Looking forward to getting back to life again. Such as going to see our new grandson this Spring.

My second shot was on Feb 15, my wife's was early Jan. We went out to dinner last Friday night for the first time in almost a year. They still are doing social distancing protocols and the waiters were all masked but it was awesome. We sat, drank and ate for almost 2 hours just talking and enjoying the food and company.

Got 2nd Pfizer shot yesterday, and arm is not sore like the 1st one. Might have been tired last night, but could have been due to double hard swims this weekend. Only thing I did notice is I breathed through my mouth all night, woke up several times with it dry as a bone. I never do that, so not sure what to think. Will monitor tonight to see if a one off.

Just really glad I did not get what a lot of you have on your 2nd shots, seems the older you are, the less likely of a side affect??

Got my 1st Moderna on Friday. Was playing around on vax-search site here in MI on Thurs night and an appointment popped up 2 hours away so I grabbed it. EVERYONE at the Rite-Aid for shots was from out of town (mostly Detroit suburbs). Pharmacist said it is getting better -- they have 2-4 cancellations per day now b/c more distribution in the rest of Michigan. Today 5 people in my office were able to call the Beaumont # and get appointments for Thurs-Fri.

No soreness in arm, was just a bit tired on Saturday, but that could have been b/c of the Old Forrester 1910 on Friday night. Wife just received her notification but she doesn't want the Pfizer or Moderna....she is holding out for J&J.

Based on personal observations, by mid-May things may be back to fairly normal. Popular bars are open and packed on the weekends in the suburbs, and not a lot of mask wearing.

And entirely too much talk about training & workouts on this thread........TTSTTOF

Was talking with a relative last weekend at lunch about the vaccine and he insisted he will never get it. He is about 72 and has some pre-existing issues.

He contends it is only an EMERGENCY APPROVED vaccine which means it is not even approved by the FDA. We have zero results of what will happen to people in a year or 18 months after taking the vaccine. (Couldn't argue with him there)

He further claimed one of the preservatives in the vaccine was a very toxic substance. In addition to him, I have heard some folks are coming down with bells palsy after getting the vaccine but couldn't find any proof of that online.

I don't plan to get it and will just wait and see how everyone that got it is doing a year from now. I expect it will be fine but I don't want to be the Guinee pig.

Many other family members have all had it, many of them in the medical field with no negative results.

Sunday night I was attending to a pt for two hours in the hospital who came in with leg weakness and no good explanation. Guillian Barre syndrome was considered but I thought it unlikely. Sunday night was day two in hospital. Pt went into progressive respiratory failure with no obvious diagnosis. Had to put pt on ventilator.

We are now re considering the Guillian Barre syndrome which is felt to be a rare side effect of vaccination. A person is likely way more likely to die of covid than get that. I am in general practice and this is possibly my third case in 27 years in the practice. The first two were after episodes of viral illness. Still going to get my second covid shot in a month or two. I got the pfizer with no side effects except sore muscles for a few days.

2nd dose for my wife and I as well last Friday (Moderna). Sore arms that day and next. She was a-okay the next day. I had a headache and sore joints off and on much of Sat as well as a bit tired. Good to go on Sunday. Both our shots were at Petco Park. The first shot we were able to find street parking and walk in, took about an hour total. This time we stayed in the car as the line was WAY shorter. Took about an hour as well. Super smooth and easy both times.

I view the health risks associated with covid as something I want to avoid a lot more than I'm worried about the vaccine. But you have to assess that yourself.

I agree. Each person needs to assess that. I don't see it as a very big risk for me. I am healthy, lean, no underlying conditions, and take no meds for anything. The risk of any potential issue with an unapproved vaccine is not worth it for me. In a year or so, I will probably take it.

I have a few friends that had Covid already and they are also not getting the vaccine. Not sure how long their immunity will last but they had very mild cases and again see the risk of an unproven vaccine ( in terms of long term results) as not worth it compared to having gone through Covid.

I got Phizer #2 yesterday, only side effect was slightly sore around injection site :)

I think I was a little more tired today than normal, that's about it. I know a bunch of people who have gotten Phizer and Moderna, my general impression is this is no different than any other vaccine or drug: the people who have more sensitivity to drugs have more severe reactions to the vaccines. Thankfully I could be shot with a horse tranquilizer and not notice it :)

The Pfizer #1 that I got was much less worse than the first shingles vaccine. That thing knocked me out for a couple of days. Pfizer #2 may well do so too, but I'll chance it. I'm going to see if they can add some fat busting gremlins to shot #2.

2nd Moderna dose last Saturday morning. A little arm soreness but nothing too painful. Even went for a short bike ride in the afternoon. At around 8 that night I was standing in line to order food when I suddenly felt very tired and chilly. I got out of line so that I could sit and settle down. My body temp was up to 99.5 and topped out at 100.5 overnight. Never got below 99 on Sunday but by Monday morning I was down to 98.0.

I'm now overdue by about a month for my 2nd Shingrx shot and will wait a few more weeks for that one.

Pfizer or Moderna? I'll be getting my 2nd round of Pfizer juice 3/29. After the first, my arm was pretty sore for about a day and a half and I had a mild headache and generally felt 'off' for 24h. I hear that side-effects after the 2nd can be worse, so I'm anticipating that. I also had COVID back in Nov, so was not expecting any side-effects at all. Go figure. Hope you shake it off soon!

I got the Pfizer. I took ibuprofen prior to getting the shot and didn't have any effects after the shot other than some fatigue, but it appears that it just depends on the person.

Pfizer. I had a sore arm, some sleeplessness, a tiny headache, and a general blah feeling for about half a day after my first dose.

This is much worse. Four of my coworkers were with me to get their second dose as well. They all feel fine except the sore arm.

I got my first dose of Pfizer today. On Monday, San Diego County relaxed its standards for vaccine eligibility to the lowest level in the state. A BMI of 25 will now get you in the door here. The state says only a 40 or above will make you eligible. San Francisco says 30. San Diego went even lower, and now something like 60% of our population is eligible. (I think it was the San Diego Union Tribune that observed that with standards this relaxed, even most of the Padres roster is eligible.)

Partially due to the fact that standards have been so relaxed, it's nearly impossible to find an appointment. I clicked "refresh" a lot of times on the County website this morning until, magically, a few appointments popped up at a venue about 35 miles north of me. I jumped on one of them and went immediately. I was done about 45 minutes later. It was an incredibly easy experience with zero line and zero waiting other than the 15-minute post-injection wait.

No side effects yet other than a shoulder that feels a little funny, but it's only been a few hours. I'll get an e-mail to make my second appointment in a couple weeks. I think the date of my second appointment is already set for April 8.

War is god

The suspension of the AZ in half the EU countries was complete madness. The figures are very easy. 1 death from 11 million people vaccinated.
By a simple comparison, 400+ die each year per 11 Million people (worse than that in France and Germany), in car crashes. But I don't see the sale or use of cars being stopped.
All it has done is ensure several thousand more people die from Covid and the lockdowns get extended further.
I'm very pro EU. But this smacks of political meddling.

Suspending the use of the vaccine was stupid but once one country started to do it, they all had to follow suit because no one wants to be blamed if someone has as a thromboembolism next week after the getting vaccine, even if the two things are not related. With the PRAC review announced yesterday, countries can go ahead and not be held responsible for potential risk of side effects.

I agree that they were covering their arses after 1 did. But my point is that by covering their spineless arses, the decision condemned several thousand more people to death via the virus.

Also several countries (about half of the EU nations) chose NOT to apply this knee jerk reaction. It wasn't dictated by the EU level regulator. Each individual country didn't have to follow like sheep - but did - they failed to apply any balance-of-risk assessment.

Anyway... back to normal viewing !

I'm just going to burn a vacation day and sleep when I get my 2nd shot. Even if I feel perfectly fine, it will be a glorious day.

Glorious is about right for me as some weight has been lifted now that both my wife and I are both fully vaccinated. Taking the day off or possibly the next day makes a lot of sense. I am 48 hours post second shot of Phizer and just rounding out of a funk. First day fine. Second day poor sleep with mild body and head aches for me.

Sputnik V first shot.

Upper arm and felt a bit like I was coming down with something the evening after taking it. Was a 15km round trip walk to the clinic and I misjudged the temperature a bit so my down jacket was pretty clammy when I got back. Not sure if that was related.

Turned down Sputnik Light as the efficacy and effective time periods are supposedly less, although one shot was tempting.

I just had my first dose, Pfizer, yesterday. They added moderate/severe asthma to the qualifications last Friday which was great. Just have a sore shoulder, no difference than any other vaccine.

My wife got hers too and she is significantly more sore, but her pain threshold isn’t exactly high so its probably not that bad haha.

I know a few people in my neighborhood with the church that were volunteering and got put on the hope for a leftover dose/canceled appt list. Got my first (Pfizer) yesterday at like 3 in the afternoon. Got a bit sleepy around 815...felt fine otherwise. Pretty cool experience as it was at Ford Field here in Detroit. One step towards better days.

Second Pfizer shot this morning. A minor headache and my arm is starting to get sore, but nothing too bad. I did try and do a high intensity bike work out today and had to bail on that 15 minutes in, so instead I did another 25 minutes of just easy pedaling.

2nd Moderna today!

Slightly achy arm but so far so good.

Wife and I were both told separately to drink lots of water prior to and after shots. So far seems to have done the trick at least for us.

Got the 1st shot of Pfizer on Wednesday. Nothing really to speak of. No arm soreness. Did feel a little "off" the rest of the day, but not bad, just a little strange. Wife had her first Pfizer the following day and she had a little more soreness and tiredness, but the tiredness hit her much more yesterday, but that could also be due to her workload right now. Both feeling pretty good today.

We go back for our 2nd shots in mid-April. Our process was super smooth. We are both in our 50's, but Texas opened up to 50+ already (they open up 16 and above starting Monday). We used UT Health and they had all their nursing school students running the show. There were probably 100 people in line when I got there and it only took me 25 mins from getting out of the car to getting the shot in my arm. I spent longer in observation (30 mins due to allergies to a med, so they wanted me to stay just a little longer) than I did standing in line for the vaccine. It was very well done.

I'm happy we got them, but it's irritating that my wife's Mom who live in Louisiana still can't get one and I have an Aunt and Uncle in their 80's who are still on a waitlist ... but yet they keep opening it up to lower and lower ages.

Have you tried looking here to see if you can find an appointment for them?

I'm on day 3 of a low level headache after shot #2. I very rarely get headaches (usually too much wine related), so this is irritating.

Got my first dose this weekend. It was easy and simple. Done at a drive thru event organized by the Fire Department. Super efficient, giving 5-10 shots per minute. It was really cool. Took 4 lanes of the parking lot. First lane - Check-in (multiple people), write on winshield what you were getting. Lane 2 - Pullup and get shot. Boom done. Lane 3 and 4 park and wait 5 minutes. Then leave. They had plenty of people in each lane doing their jobs. Never seen govt. work so well.

Shoulder sore for a couple of days and then all good Monday.

Took maybe 25 minutes with about 20 cars in front of me when I got there. They even had people parking you and checking in on you and then releasing you.

Yes, it has Pseudoephedrine, which can be cooked down to meth, but you need a lot - 20 boxes sounds about right

It was a breeze

I used the MyChart app, so there was no paperwork to fill out, anywhere

Got my temp taken at the door, with the usual questions

Checked in, scanned my D/L, a couple more ID checks on their tablets, and I sat down with "My name is Maria, I will be giving you your vaccine" repeated the usual questions

Got my shot [Pfizer], was directed to "Observation Area" for 15 minutes; in the meantime I made my 2nd appointment on the app, then was released

The volunteers were hospital staff administering the shots, with US Army and FEMA personnel 'directing traffic' but the place was so big, and things moved so quickly, there was no space nor need for a line to form

So jealous of all you fine folks getting it. MD is middle of the pack administering them and I won’t be eligible for another 2-3 weeks. But the second I am eligible I’ll be busting my butt to get one. I’m hoping for an mRNA based one but I’ll take whatever they give me.

For those of you in NH, I went to the State set-up at the C&J Trailway sight in Dover. Super easy - appointment was at 9:05 so showed up an hour early, just in case, but wasn't much of a line yet. Waited about 35 minutes, they stuck me, easy-peazy.

2nd shot scheduled for the 29th.

That's what they usually are, but with NH opening up to everyone (40+ was Monday; 30+ yesterday; 18+ tomorrow) I presume appointments are starting to fill.

I was surprised to find this one for this early, and wasn't out of my way (about 20 minutes from the house en route to the office).

I'll take what I can get.

I got Pfizer dose #1 yesterday (3/31) and scheduled for dose #2 on 4/21. I went to a mass vaccination site sponsored by a neighboring town and Jewel Osco pharmacy. It was in a local airport's hanger and they had like 2300 people scheduled yesterday. It went like clockwork. I was in and out in about 25 minutes and that included watching a 3 minute video and the 15 minute observation period. The Village's public work staff was staffing the observation areas, wiping down chairs and providing bottled water. Overall it was super impressive on how organized and efficient it all went. Let's hope for the same on dose #2 day.

My only symptoms are some minor arm pain and fatigue. But honestly, I don't know it if its actual fatigue or I just used it as an excuse to go to bed at 8pm last night.

Busy with Hummer stuff, have not been here in a while,
But thought I would drop this one.

Got J&J yesterday, at a mass vaccination site in Ohio (Maumee) wife and I got in. About an hour drive, 70 miles. Got there, got in line about 15 min later was getting shot, wait 15 min and leave. They said they were doing about 6,000 a day at that site.

So for all those who said I should not wait, I could have gotten 1st of Pfizer about 2 weeks ago, so net impact immune about the same time.

Now thinking in 57 days their will be a glut and I might go get a 2nd J&J to unofficially join their 2 dose study (they are studying a 57 day delay between the 2 shots) not sure when they will have preliminary data from that study.

No side effects yet, for wife or I. it was about 20 hrs ago now.

Day-and-a-half out from my 1st shot (Pfizer): I feel fine, and have ever since. My shoulder was sore to the touch yesterday evening, then started stiffening up 'round about 7. But that's essentially it.

I was feeling a bit lazy and lethargic yesterday toward evening, but that could be two-fold of not eating lunch yet and not going for a run, or was a by-product of the shot. Hard to say with any certainty.

I do still feel a bit lazy now, but the dog woke me at 4 this morning and I didn't really get much sleep after that (and what I got certainly wasn't quality).

I had an install this morning but it wasn't anything strenuous. Just kinda taking it easy. We'll see what morning brings but I don't foresee anything out of my ordinary.

PS - My shot was at Javits Center, NYC. I think they're running 24/7. Some lines but they move. Extremely well organized. I moved from station to station and no waiting at all. Hoping dose 2 will be smooth sailing as well.

I noticed they also do the J&J shot there. What you get is specified on the appointment, there wasn't a choice.

Got my second Pfizer shot this past Friday.

Shot 1: arm hurt a lot for a few days, felt "off" slightly fizzy head the first day and night, then all fine after that

Shot 2: no arm pain and after about 30 hours post shot I had a few hours of feeling chills, like i had a fever (but didn't) and tired, but went away after a couple hours. Just real quick in/out of that feeling. But basically no effects at all. Went fishing in my kayak all day the day after and felt totally normal.

First dose yesterday on the first day of my eligibility in MD. TeamPfizer here, second dose is on May 5th.

It was definitely a trip feeling my immune system "reboot" after being holed up for a year. 15 minutes of sitting around and then ka-FWOOM, I could feel every lymph node whirring along in my body. Arm was sore yesterday, but didn't feel bad enough to skip doing "other forum"ly things. Slept fine last night, arm hurts MORE today, but still did my scheduled "other forum"ly things and felt fine.

A big thank you to all who've gotten their shots so far! If you need help or know of anyone that needs help scheduling an appointment wherever they live, let me know- that's kind of become a second/third job for me at the moment.

I’m eligible in 12 days, along with hundreds of thousands of other Californians. I can’t imagine being able to find a shot for weeks.

Do you spend a ton of time looking or is there an efficient process you use?

Colorado just opened it up Sat - I spent a lot of time when they opened looking for an appointment- if I had waited 2 days I could have gotten a sooner appointment. They open more when they have confirmation of vaccine near in.

It opened Sat I got a Thursday appointment- but yesterday I got 4 friends appointments for Wednesday (they wanted J&J and a new site opened up).

I have had a lot more success looking in the evenings.

That said it could be different by state.

My in laws got one pretty quick in CA when their eligibility came up.

From what I’ve read healthy and 16-50 isn’t that big compared to some other groups- lots of people have a medical condition or already got it due to profession.

In my experience, with the state-run vaccines you throw your name into a hat and hope something happens. I searched CVS and Walgreens like 5-6 times a day until I got an appointment. I wound up going one state over as I qualified at 50+ vs. 55+ in MD (I'm 52, no underlying conditions even though my BMI technically puts me in the "overweight" category, even though "other forum" activities my RHR is like 42). Right now I'm trying to snag one for my daughter as MD opens to everyone on Monday.

I follow MDVaxAlerts on twitter, which is a bot that scrubs all available appointments in this state and posts availability.
I also follow the regional hospital vaccine pages (here, it's Adventist, Kaiser, John Hopkins and GW)
Also, 16+ opened YESTERDAY to everyone in MD. There were plenty of appointments for 4/11 at M&T stadium last I looked.

Just added my name to those with the 1st dose of Moderna. They are giving them at the pharmacy where I work and my store manager just walked around and said they had extra doses if anyone wanted one. 2nd shot will be early May. Had already planned a flight in mid May so perfect timing.

Just got my second Pfizer. Woohoo! I even got a nifty pin that says I got the shot, ask me about it! My county in Central Washington is doing a fantastic job with appointments, not wasting any doses. They have even done house calls for people who can’t make it to the vaccine site.

Same here. I have helped a number of folks get vaccinated in a matter of minutes. It would be nice if others do the same so that we can get this done sooner than later.

I got one here in Cali yesterday based off an article saying a few vaccine sites were open for the day only, no appointment needed. (And you didn't have to fit into any category.) I had been worried about the same as you - once it opens next week it will be hard to get an appt for a while (I think).

My advice, scour the news for announcements like I found - seriously I read the article at my house and less than one hour later I had the shot in arm.

Also check online at:
CVS
https://www.cvs.com/...d-screener/covid-qns

Albertsons (Vons)
https://www.mhealthappointments.com/covidappt

Check often, and check after midnight or random times middle of the night. For CA people, also try: https://myturn.ca.gov/ - but that wasn't helpful (yet) since I wasn't eligible.

Happy to say I got Pfizer yesterday. Had a great run last night. Arm soreness today and that's it so far. Assuming 2nd dose will be a different story.
So so relieved!!

I got my first dose of the Pfizer vaccine this morning. Some of my work is supporting the Air Force/Space Force so I was able get an appointment on the local Air Force Base. So far I have had some chills and mild muscle aches similar to what i get after I get the flu shot.

I would have become eligible next week, but it might be tough to get appointments next week as thousands of others that just became eligible also are trying to get appointments.

For people in Southern California my work sent out a notice saying that Cal State LA has to use all their vaccine stock by Sunday so they are vaccinating anyone that wants it. It said something about a change in management. I'm not sure how a change in management would make unused vaccine unusable. Ive also heard that CSU Bakersfield was vaccinating anyone that wants it. Supposedly they have been having trouble meeting their quotas.

Moderna yesterday at lunch. Just the regular shot sore arm.

I did choose not to have wine last night and went for a walk rather than a full workout based on my friends getting knocked down the day before (J&J- and one shot site was shut down over reactions). I wanted my body to have full reserves in case since I have a lot on my calendar today.

Have to say it’s an utter free for all if you have no morals and ethics here in CA. Many do.

Finally got eligible at 50+, and tried for days to get something local. Nada.
Walk by local vacc clinic sites and most in line are definitely not 50+. Linecutters galore, claiming ignorance about eligibility criteria. Staff just shruggs and stabs....

So finally get an appointment at the FEMA site 30 miles away. Same picture. Majority in the mile-long line are not minorities or 50+.

So instead of local, this costs me 1/2 day of work and $50 in Gas/Tolls.
Just imagine you are not internet savvy or don’t have the possibility to take the day off or drive. With opening up for every adult next week, most 50+ are fighting with everybody.

Luckily, Karma is always waiting in the wings, and maybe parents/uncles/aunts go unprotected. Who cares, right!

Wow. I never lied about anything to get it. The article said they were giving it to anyone, no appointment needed. I asked when I arrived, you didn't need to fit any category. There was no line at the place I went to. I asked and they said there was some computer glitch that meant those sites had extra doses to give.

I was trying to be helpful and give advice on how to look up how to get the shots because I haven't found it to be a very easy thing to do and I wanted to be able to sign up as soon as I could.

I cannot believe that states are still at the 50+ point; it's crazy to me! NH is mostly pretty bumpkin, and we're getting ready to open it up to everyone! And by everyone, I mean anyone 16+, even out-of-staters:

I would guess that vaccination sites are setting appointments for the number of guaranteed shots they receive week by week. It’s likely the number of shots they actually receive in shipments are in excess of the guaranteed number. Sites might receive several hundred extras for all we know. As long as they go in arms, it’s good enough.

So, there’s probably a mix of people in line at places— those who made an appointment 5 days prior and extra people responding to last-minute, advertised shots-for-anyone because the site has received more shots than they anticipated.

Honestly, both types of recipients are doing us a favor. The more shots that get used and the more people who get vaccinated, the better.

It’s because the whole State of California is run by exactly the same kind of immature people and with the same selfish attitude I took offense with.

Sure it doesn’t help to have that many residents, but if the communities beg the National Guard to stay and continue running mass vac sites at this point in time, you know it’s dire.

I got my first shot (Pfizer) on Monday. I had the typical sore arm, kind of feels like I had been punched. A day and half later it's pretty much gone, although I can still feel it slightly if I lean against something. Mine was done at a local CVS pharmacy. Super easy and I was out the door in about 20 minutes, including the 15 minute waiting period after the shot.

My 17 year old daughter had her first shot (also Pfizer) on Sunday morning. She qualifies because of her job. Same symptoms for her, just a sore arm. Her shot was done at one of the Mass Vax sites (Hynes Convention Center in Boston). Amazingly efficient operation. The entire operation is being handled by the National Guard, at least from what I could tell. Almost every single person working there was in uniform. From time we walked in the door to the time we walked out was maybe 25 minutes tops, including the waiting period, and this site is doing hundreds of shots per hour. I think they have capacity for around 8000 to 9000 per day. Super impressive operation.

Massachusetts seemed to get a bit of a slow start on vaccinations but things really sped up over the past month or so. I think there are around 80,000 people getting vaccinated per day on average, and that average seems to be going up steadily. There have been several days where the number has been over 100,000. The state has a population of a little under 7 million and I think the amount of people that have at least one dose is about 3 million (about 43%), and the amount fully vaccinated is about 2 million (about 26%).

My wife just got her first injection last Thursday and had a mild headache that night but nothing else. We both got the Pfizer vaccine.

Got my second shot on Monday. Felt good till about noon yesterday. Then a trainwreck until about 9pm and then fine. It seemed like it went back to normal fast as I went to shit.

Glad this is done though, I hope they get the kids dosing figured out and approved quickly.

Second Pfizer yesterday afternoon - yeah, my arm hurts, but I haven't gotten to the 'flu like symptoms' part of the ride the others in my household experienced: chills, fatigue, headache

The GPS apps on my phone lights up anytime I walk past it; which is weird, since I don't even remember putting that app on it?

Also, the music in my head is much clearer and more defined now

I was second Pfizer yesterday at 8:15am so I am just over 24 hours out. My arm is sore and is maybe only a tad bit sorer than it was with shot #1. Other than that I am not sure I am having any symptoms. I am a bit fatigued but I was also tired before the injection due to some accumulated training fatigue. I also may or may not have a headache. I can't decide if I am imagining symptoms or its just related to the obscene amount of pollen in the air or the vaccine. Either way its not enough for me to get up and go find some Tylenol. I am just happy its nothing like what I have been reading about friends -- terrible headache, chills, aches, etc.

Fully vaccinated. Was stupid with the first and went for a run later in the day. What was mild dehydration symptoms turned into full body cramps. But was fine after dinner.

Second one was uneventful. Got it at night, slept like a baby and was good to go the next day.

It isn't an allergy, it is just worse side affects. Some people get them worse and if you have already had it they can be worse. I got mine at 11:15 last Friday. I woke up Saturday morning at 5:00 am needing to talk myself whether or not I was having a seizure due to violent and uncontrollable shivering from the fever. I decided that if I could keep the shivers going for a couple days it would really melt off the weight.

30 - 36 hours later I was feeling a lot better. 60 hours later I had a fever pop back up (Sunday night) but by morning it was gone and I was good to go. She'll get better.

I try not to tell that story because I don't want to discourage people from getting it, but yes, there can be some not so fun side affects.

Wife got Jab #2 today down at Ft Benning. Her purse had been stolen last week at her work--w/ all forms of ID, credit cards, check book, and her vaccination card. It was a long week getting our credit frozen, bank accounts changed, new CC's, disputing charges the thief had made on her cards before we shut them down. One of the things she lost was her DoD ID card and we can't get a replacement until JUL. I went online and got her a "proof" of entitlement to military health care from TriCare---that and her passport were enough for her to get shot #2

The young Soldiers running the site at Ft Benning said that the last few weeks the demand had dropped off appreciably after initial surge. There were still quite a few people in line tho. We were in and out in about 30 min total.

Our son and daughter have both had shot #1 and are awaiting #2--out in TX and AZ respectively.

Just got shot #1 about 45 minutes ago. Got #2 scheduled for 4 weeks from today. Hoping for no side effects but we’ll see. My husband got J&J and felt like he’d been hit by a bus for almost 3 days. We know of 4 other men his age (mid 40’s or so) and all had similar reactions and all had the J&J shot on the same day. I got Moderna.

I see a lot of you guys going back to full tilt training 1-2 days after your shots.
This is not something I would have done, nor did, even I also felt 'fine' after the shot.

The vaccine does challenge your body, and there may be inflammation going on that you are not aware of.
You all know more or less about the dangers of training with a viral infect.
Yeah, your vaccination is eliciting an antiviral response that uses some of the mechanisms at play when infected with a real virus.

It isn't really too surprising those cases of myocarditis are popping up in Israel now as they started vaccinating younger people.
Although right now it is unclear if there is a connection to exercise, fact is that myocarditis is of concern in active younger adults:

Some questions for those who have had a jab: Right arm? Left arm? Doesn't matter?

I was looking at the footage of drive-through mass vaccination clinics in the US and people hanging their arm out the window and receiving their shot. Would lefties just have to get out of the vehicle?

Do they have similar drive-throughs in the UK where the drivers would be hanging the right arm out of the window?

I have no idea. Our vaccination roll-out is appalling in Aust. Currently less than 2 million shots given to date.

They had me get it in the same arm. They were specific about it. Pfizer. I assume the vaccine doesn't just stay in my arm so not sure why it would matter. I also got it in my dominant arm - my choice. The whole operation (Worcester State University run by St Vincent Hospital) was kind of amazing with the constant throughput of people, the number of volunteers, and efficiency.

My daughter got hers in a drive through. Felt sorry for those volunteers -- 20 mph wind and 32 F.

Sitting in post shot waiting area right now. I will update later with any complications.

Astra Zeneca shot.

For Canadians in the house, I went to a pharmacy. Arrived at 9:35 for a 9:45 appointment. Answered some questions, then had to wait about 10 minutes for the pharmacist. Got my shot at 9:55 and had to sit for 15 minutes. At 10:10 I walked out, took off my mask and spiked it on the ground and did the Icky Shuffle.

It went pretty smoothly.

2 hours later... my arm is a little sore.

2nd shot went in this weekend. Like the first, no ill effects felt.

Noticed a sign that said they'll jab just over 6000+ that day. Down from the 8000+ when I was there 3 weeks ago for shot #1. I was expecting a higher number given the eligibility criteria had opened up more, and I figured the combination of 2nd shooters plus new first-timers would yield a higher daily total. But too many other considerations to read into the numbers. Hopefully it's not b/c people are avoiding getting vax'd.

Replying to last.

So it's been over 24 hours since I got AstraZeneca vax #1. Yesterday I felt pretty crappy. Upset stomach, not barfing, just that my stomach was not happy. My head did not feel right at all.

Today I have a dull headache and stomach is a little better. I am hungry but don't really feel like eating though. My hunger is probably making the situation feel worse. I've forced myself to eat a small breakfast and a small lunch.

It’s day two since AstraZeneca shot. I feel fine although I have a slight headache still.

Shoulder is still sore to the touch and if I lift something like a plate out of the cupboard.

All in all, I am fine. Although I do have two possible COVID case contacts from last week. Neither seems like we should worry about it. We are all symptom free.

I got my second Moderna today at the Spokane mass vax site. The good news is that the site was still quite busy. There were 3 lines, 6 deep, waiting in queue to get into the vaccination area. The 15 minute wait area had dozens of people. It looked about like it did 4 weeks ago, and not at all like a mass vax site ready to be shut down. They haven't announced how long it will stay open, but it looks like it will be a while.

The bad news is that our county is about to be sent back a step in reopening to Phase 2, which is 25%. I'm glad I received my second shot when I did as infection and hospitalization rates are increasing.

Well yesterday was pretty bad. I got Moderna #2 at 1145 Wednesday, woke up feeling generally OK but no energy with a tender injection site. As the day progressed yesterday I got worse and worse. Topping out with a 102 fever for a while but magically around 6 PM yesterday, like a switch went off, I felt fine. I had some night sweats last night but feel Joe Toe this morning.

The mck414 family is now 7/8 COVID vaccination complete. The boy get's his second next week and we'll be 100%.

As of last night the spokesperson for ND Health said that was news to her.

Likely scenario. Con Premier throws that out there knowing that Trudeau won’t waive the 2 week mandatory quarantine for the teachers who cross the border. JT will be asked about it and will confirm that there will be no waived quarantine.

Con Premier then blames JT for teachers not being able to get shot in ND meanwhile there was never really a plan in place for this to happen anyway.

Political theatre.

24 hrs post 2nd Pfizer: sore shoulder from the injection, and legs are tired (did not workout last night), but nothing else whatsoever. Feel pretty damn good, actually (hangover notwithstanding...).

Honey's daughter (19y.o.) got her first on Wednesday evening (Moderna) and that was another story altogether: she woke up tired and barely moved around the house all day, and took frequent naps. Didn't feel sick, per se, just run down and worn out. She seemed to be doing better after we ate supper, though...

I am 22 hours post second dose of Pfizer and last night was rough. Alternated between uncontrollable chills, amazingly sweaty and full on muscle aches/cramps. This morning my legs are really heavy, slight headache and rather unrefreshed from my lack of sleep.

My wife seems fine, so the opposite of what we each experienced from the real virus.

Well, that sucks.

Also, seems like the bolded is exactly how I felt this morning, but mine was due to a couple too many Old Brown Dogs last night... maybe beer really is the answer?

In a couple of weeks you all will be so happy to be fully vaccinated.

Shot #2 Pfizer on Wednesday. Yesterday (thurs) had muscle aches in the back and felt nauseous off and on. Tylenol helped with the aches. Bed early and felt good when I work up today. Arm was way more sore right away after this one, but more short-lived than with shot #1. I have noticed resting heart rate is up and just like after the first shot my run today (although easy pace) had a pretty high heart rate even though I kept slowing down. (I know, wrong forum but I think the HR thing is interesting.)

Regardless, happy to be vaxxed!!

Two days after my second Moderna shot, and I've developed a large pink rash at the injection site. This didn't happen after the first one. Arm is still very sore, but smooth sailing otherwise.

After ten hours no muscle pain but I am lying and saying there is because we have a big pile of dirt to move.

Side note though, I am freezing. It was 22c inside and I just put a sweater on and cranked it to 25 (77f)

I know this is normal but I’ll keep an eye out for the non normal stuff.

Now that's funny. But good call not taking that on. That's on the complete other end of the spectrum from taking it easy. I know.

30 hours out from Moderna #2. Sore arm, dull headache and minor body aches. Worst thing is I can’t seem to get myself to do anything. I’ve had a hub sitting in front of me for a couple of hours that needs service but I just keep sitting here watching the draft. Maybe tomorrow.

It's almost been 2 weeks since my second Pfizer dose. Besides a sore arm, neither dose had any side effect whatsoever. A bit of an anticlimax because some people close to me got hit hard.

I had the first AstraZeneca shot 4 days ago. About 10 hours afterwards the fever (102 degrees) and chills started. Knocked me on my ass for about 36 hours. Ibuprofen every 8 hours helped with the fever. I figured it's a small price to pay for being protected and the side effects just meant that the vaccine was doing its job and triggering an immune response.

The only lingering side effect now is a crazy bruise at the injection site.

The experience won't stop me from getting the 2nd shot, but not looking forward to it.

I guess I'll through my $0.02 in.

2nd shot of Pfizer 3 days ago. Had the same issues after both shots, feeling a little worn down for a day and my arm felt like it was assaulted with a hammer for 24-36 hours. Nothing serious.

I got 2nd moderna and 30 minutes after my lips felt weird and tingly like I had been to the dentist for some novocaine and it was just wearing off. I’m about an hour out now and they feel almost back to normal (no, I’ve never had any fillers).

I got my second one today, also Pfizer at the Hynes Convention Center. Agree that it was so efficiently run for such a big facility. It was actually a crew from the Navy based out of Virginia that was administering everything.

I got my first one there two weeks ago, only had some mild soreness around the injection point (no different than with the flu shot) that was gone by the next day. Same thing so far after round 2 seven hours in, have been hydrating quite a bit since yesterday (I usually drink a lot of water during the day anyway) so hopefully I’ll get through the next day or two OK. My wife has her second one next week, daughter won’t be able to get hers until sometime in the summer.

I think that I am the first person in this topic to have had the Sinopharm vaccine. I had my first shot two days ago. I had a sore arm for 24 hours and slept poorly the first night. I will get my second shot in 4 weeks.

The WHO is currently reviewing Sinopharm and is expected to release its findings in early May. China has the capacity to produce 3+ billion doses per year. Sinopharm could have a significant impact in reducing Covid in poor countries.

Is that the one with 3% efficacy?

Sinopharm = 8 track player of vaccines. Good luck with that. It's unlikely that vaccine is doing anything for you. Keep your mask on and stay the fuck inside.

The World Health Organisation has approved Sinopharm with an efficacy of 78%. For most people in the developing world Sinopharm is their only option. Having access to a vaccine that is safe and effective will have a major impact on transmission rates and deaths in the developing world.

I finally got the J&J vaccine on Monday. I had waited for J&J to be authorized for use again so that I'd only have to go once and have less-severe side effects (I'm an on-call mechanic and not able take time off if I don't feel well).

I had a lot going on before and after the shot, so I'm not entirely sure if me feeling bad was a side effect. I did Gulf Coast 70.3 on Saturday, went to a beach baptism for 3 hours on Sunday and got horribly sunburnt, then got the shot at 4pm on Monday. I ended up working over 8 hours in the sun yesterday and started feeling like shit about 24 hours after the shot and went home to bed.

No fever or chills, but I had a lot of muscle aches (could've been from the HIM).

Anyway, glad I finally got it out of the way.

The Seattle Mariners announced they've administered 1,000 on-site vaccinations. I know that's not a lot in big city, but multiply that by all of the other on-site vax sites, I have some hope that their attempt to make the vaccine widely and easily available is bound to help.

Got our second Moderna last week. Hit he less hard than the first one and only made me tired and super sore injection site. Other than that I had nothing. Thankfully.

Got my second shot today. First dose was AZ at a pharmacy. Today was Pfizer at a mass clinic.

The clinic was very well organized. A well oiled machine at this point.

No side effects yet. We'll see how this goes with the mixed doses.

2nd dose yesterday, mixed vaccines.

First dose was Astra-Zenica via the local pharmacy 8 weeks ago. Mostly felt like I had a hangover the next day.
2nd dose was Pfizer via the provincial health authority. Headache yesterday, general malaise this morning.

The odd part is that I'm getting my second dose before before my parents, one of whom is immune-compromised. I'm not yet 40 and otherwise perfect health. Snuck into the AZ vaccine group right when the 40+ cohort opened (turning 40 later this year) and did the same when they dropped the waiting period to 8 weeks to get mRNA as a 2nd dose.

Meanwhile, because my mom already had her 2nd dose pre-booked for August (both Moderna), we had to call to get her moved up to tomorrow due to her condition. Everyone is getting their 2nd shot in the next week or two, but it feels weird to go before my parents and in-laws - who should by all rights go long before me.

My wife and I had Pfizer as a follow on to AZ last Tuesday morning. Everything was OK until about 3 AM the next morning, according to the watches we wear. Heart rate went up, stress went up, and we both felt like crap all day Wednesday. But had a solid sleep Wednesday to Thursday and totally back to normal.

Less is more.

Same here, but both of mine were Pfizer. My vision seems much better now that the 3rd eye has grown in the back of my head.

I’m glad to hear you guys are getting shots.

I just learned that the college-age daughter of my friend (who had Covid & was hospitalized & has long hauler symptoms) isn’t getting vaccinated. I am absolutely floored.

It came up because she asked for my help finding someone to store some of her stuff— storage units in Bozeman are sold out. Unfortunately for her, the people I know in Bozeman have young kids and believe in science and they don’t want anything to do with unvaxxed people.

Crazy.

My wife had two Pfizer shots, first one did nothing to her but the second kicked the snot out of her. We've been together for 25 years and I've never seen her take more than 2 consecutive sick days (and I usually have to force her to stay home on the 2nd day). She was off work for 3 days, Wed to Friday and likely would have been off at least Saturday if it was a work day.
