I've read through all the threads on sports hernia, but "core muscle injury" is a new one for me. I guess it's wha they now call a sports hernia?
Got my diagnosis via MRI this morning. Had symptoms since March. Did PT and exercises, but those were more focused on the belief that there was just some pelvic tilt going on, not the CMI Dx. Weeks of rest (well, no running, still rode some but that didn't hurt, mostly) didn't help, especially inside adductor up into the groin which always has had some pain.
Ortho at Kerlan Jobe says if PT/rest didn't resolve in 4-6 weeks, surgery is next step. He asked "how much does it bother you?" and noted that for pros and college athletes they recommend surgery. I'm just a weekend warrior triathlete and really don't want to give that up, as the last few months have made clear, not being able to run and really train properly has had a huge detrimental effect (in addition to the quarantine issues). 53 years old, btw.
Ortho says fairly simple surgery with 6-8 weeks recovery back to activity.
So, anyone been able to successfully resolve with PT? Chose surgery? Recovered?
