I hope everyone (US ladies) had a great long weekend and enjoyed some good food.

I had an okay week. The work yoga challenge is going well, although Friday's workout felt a lot harder - guess it is "getting real" time.

Made it a whopping 10km out of the 25km I planned on for Saturday. It was social and fun and I would not have gone out in the cold if I hadn't made the commitment to be there. But it was also sad and demoralizing for my ego. And I got shin splints - I never get shin splints and it was all on snowy singletrack - wtf?!?

Hoping to do my first 100/100 run today (shins permitting). My husband did something to his thumb (randomly) and now has a giant cast until he can get an MRI. So I'm on full kid/family/house duty. SIGH. And the littlest one isn't really sleeping, so I'm in/out of his room all night re-settling him. It is what it is - but it seems never ending. :(

Onwards and upwards to a better week. Aiming for yoga x3, swimming x2 & a few runs (body dependent).

Happy Monday Ladies! I hope everyone had a good week with lots of delicious food and tolerable dinner guests for Thanksgiving.

Last week's goal was to survive. And, well, I'm here aren't I? :) I managed to make it through everyone one of my workouts, nailed Thanksgiving, and came out unscathed on the other end, even with shifting things around due to emergency rest day last Monday. I'm kind of proud of myself that I got it done, and didn't even have to shed anyone's blood to do so.

This week's goal- recovery!

M- rest (nailin' it)
Tu- 2mi run and strength
W- 2000yd swim
Th- 60min ride
F- 15min warmup run with strides and strength
Sa- 8mi run
Su- 80min Zwift and yoga

I'm sorry about your shin splints! Do you think it was the snow that caused them? Feel better!

Also, your hubs can totally parent with one hand tied behind his back. That's the ego boost he needs right now ;)

Indeed, he can order them around with great enthusiasm! Unfortunately, buckling 5-point harnesses might not be so easy... I'll keep him on dishwasher duty and bedtime. If he figures out a way to play video games he's not getting out of any house duties though... :P

There's a meme in there somewhere!

Dr_C - well done on surviving!
Hope all the rest of the womens had good weeks and welcome to all the newbies :-)

Last week didn't feel great at the time but in retrospect it turned out okay with 3 rides, 3 runs (1 shorter than planned) and 3 swims (2 shorter than planned). We had some friends over on Saturday and we landed up tearing through a whole bunch of wine and chips and salsa but the 100/100 did its job and got me onto the treadmill on Sunday.

The plan this week:
3 x swim (1 done)
4 x bike
3 x run.

Thanks for getting us started, Dr. TC. -- hope all the US Womens had a nice Thanksgiving.

Today is moving day and I start my new job a week from today.

It's been a lot and sports has been an outlet for stress and a way to spend time with SoCal friends.

I'll take suggestions on what to change my handle to since PDXTriCurious is lame.

Hope y'all are doing well, happy training.

Sending good moving and new job vibes your way.

Maybe your new name should be some kind of Portlandia meme/catchphrase. Or craft beer related. (These suggestions have exhausted my PDX knowledge.)

Congrats on the move!

Hmmm, new handles...PDX3Sports? SportsnSuds? DoinmORSports? curiousORtri? I'm entirely too lame for the awesomeness that it should be.

Good morning, ladies!

My week last week was good. I was mostly ok on not going overboard with food, but I hit all my workouts even with having family in town, so that was good. I kind of needed the mental break from everything which made getting workouts in super easy. :-) I ran a turkey trot, and I was going to try and PR it, but I basically blew myself out in the first mile, so I just ran it for fun and didn't sweat the outcome. That's something I'm working on hard this offseason - finding the joy in my training, and not feeling like I have to hit "X" goal every single workout.

This week's plan:
Mon - 40' run and strength
Tues - 2100 swim
Wed: 1:10 Zwift ride and strength
Thurs: 2500 swim
Fri: 40' run with hill repeats and strength
Sat: 1' Zwift ride
Sunday: Rest

Happy week, all!

Goals this week:
1. healthy coping skills mostly ok
2. keep the running under control yes!
3. do PT exercises not too bad
4. bike at least twice (one done) just the one

M: 9.5 mi run, 12.2 mi bike
T: 7.5 mi run
W: off
T: 5.6 mi run (Turkey Trot included in there) + 3 mi walk
F: 8.4 mi run + 500 yd swim
S: 5.5 mi run + 600 yd swim
S: 8 mi run, 3 mi walk, weights

totals 1100 yd swim, 12.2 mi bike, 44.4 mi run

I thought the Turkey Trot was going to be a race but it was, in fact, a gigantic 800 person group run. That did not stop me from pretending I was racing. It was about 2.8 miles, and my whole Thanksgiving family-and-extended-family gang did it, which was cool. We had a good holiday - my 5 yo cousin was very entertaining. At one point when she did not want to leave the house she wiggled her belly on the floor and said "I'm a mop!" and she also pointed to the carved turkey during dinner and said, loudly, "I FOUND A BONE!"

goals for this week are the same as last week

maybe she's born with it, maybe it's chlorine

Hi everyone!

It's so nice to hear about everyone's Thanksgivings. I'm so impressed with all who seem to have managed heavy schedules and heavier expectations, and had bunches of fun in the process. Mine was pretty chill. We had something of a Thanksgiving the weekend before, and then my husband and I just decided to spend some time together on the day of. We wound up going to see the Mr. Rogers movie, which was just perfect for the day.

I didn't hit all my workouts last week. I stopped in the middle of my long, strength ride on Saturday, and missed some ofmy targets on Sunday. I think I'm just not as good at managing end-of-semester stress as some of you fine people. I'm not going to sweat it though--compared to where I was last year, I'm a strong, badass lady. There was a Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving here too, and I did pretty well for myself.

This week:
M: ride and... no planks! Bird dogs instead. I'm on board with this switch.
T: rest
W: Ride
Th: 40 min. run and strength
F: 2500 yd. swim and bird dogs!
Sa: long, high gear bike ride, brick and planks (darnitall)
Su: 1 hr. run, strength, 30 min. recovery bike

Formerly GiantNewb, but not such a newb anymore.

Hey, all! I hope your week is off to a good start. I am lacking in patience today so right now my goal is to end the day neither in jail nor unemployed. XD

edbikebabe, that race and conditions sound tough! I'm impressed you made it 10K. Surely the shin splints were because of the snow -- hope you are feeling better now and that your week has smoothed out a bit.
Dr_C, glad you and your family made it out alive. =)
Scheherazade, even if you are going shorter than planned at least you are getting out there, right? And sometimes you need a night with friends, wine, chips, and salsa.
SoCal, I hope the move went well! How about something like PortLandandWater... PD3Xthefun... PD3Xsports... MultisportPort... MultisPort...
IronScholar, sounds like you were still able to have fun at the turkey trot!
Dr. T, yours too, sounds like a great time with all your extended family.
GiantNewb, the end of the semester has to be soon, right? You go this!

Last week was pretty good for me. I kicked off birthday celebrations after my Tuesday run and took Wednesday and Thursday off training except for some yoga Thursday night, when I was starting to feel bored and sluggish from all the lazing around and mimosas. (Don't get me wrong, I love lazing around and mimosas, but even I have my limits.) My barre studio has a special mid-morning class on lesser holidays and we had a good group on Black Friday. I was able to finish the week out strong with a run after barre on Friday, a long trainer ride on Saturday, and a run on Sunday. Unfortunately it was back to real life Sunday evening/Monday morning. My industry shuts down around the holidays and I am literally counting the days until Dec. 23.

Hope you all are doing well and avoiding/managing the cold and dark!
