Saris H3, do you need ......
I have been on a Computrainer for long time. I am considering a new smart trainer, probably the H3.
Does it have its own controller or app? Does own have to subscribe to Zwift or TrainerRoad?

The H3 when plugged in will work in headless mode like a regular fluid trainer

You can use any program like trainer road, zwift, perfpro, etc.
You can use your phone with a dozen apps
You can use your Garmin head unit.

Just about any way you want, you can control.

I apologize for my ignorance, I did look at the Saris and DC Rainmaker sites, but have not found my answers.
Will Garmin Edge 520 or Forerunner 920XT control watts? As in set the H3 at 200 watts, like I can do with my CT controller?
Again, thanks so very much!
Not sure I want to get into a monthly fee for Zwift or TrainerRoad.

Is a Garmin Edge 520 made by Garmin ?

If yes then it will work, if no then it won’t.

What you want is any meter that offers ANT+ FE-C. This is the trainer control protocol. The Edge 520 supports it. You can not only use the meter to manually set load you can create and load full workouts to run on the 520.

Here's an overview from Ray. The trainer part isn't up to date: https://www.dcrainmaker.com/...d-bike-trainers.html

I just bought an H3. It’s great. Only a few rides on it and Zwift so far and it’s the shiznit. Drop the $15 a month for Zwift. It’s worth it.

I second the H3. Bought that in addition to the original NEO and I’m impressed with the couple rides in it.
