Goal for this week is to do my hip exercises 5x; do at least one run outdoors; bike at least 2x; swim at least 5x

Someone asked if my hip were bothering me - I have a tiny niggle and when I stay on top of the hip exercises, it tends to go away. Anyway, I managed all the goals except the swim frequency (which is fine).

M: 6.6 mi run + 1075 yd swim + 3.5 mi bike
T: 6.6 mi run + 875 yd swim
W: 9.5 mi run + 3.5 mi bike
Th: 5.6 mi run + 1525 yd swim
F: 15 mi run
S: off
S: 9.5 mi run + 9.1 mi bike

totals 3425 yd swim + 16.1 mi bike + 52.8 mi run

goals this week: outdoor long run. I decided last week to run the Marine Corps marathon with my cousin :-)

Thanks for getting us started TC! I was a spectator at the Marine Corps Marathon one year. It's a beautiful course, and hopefully the weather will be great.

I did everything but one swim last week:

his coming week, I have:

1 strength (done)
4 runs
3 bikes
2 swims
f

My long ride felt great on Saturday, and I ran my first half marathon yesterday. It was super hot out, so I wasn't fast, even for me. But it's checked off the list.

This week will be a challenge with school starting, so I'm anticipating reporting some missed workouts. On Saturday, I'm supposed to run half a half marathon, then do an equivalent to the 70.3 bike course, then run the other half a half marathon. Not looking forward to that:

2x strength
3x run
4x bike
3x swim

Formerly GiantNewb, but not such a newb anymore.

Thanks for getting us started Dr TC. Excited to see you have signed up for a marathon; what a wonderful way to support your cousin and her wife.
GiantNewb - good luck for Saturday's workout and the re-start of school. AND, congratulations on your first half marathon!

I didn't set any goals for last week; I was going to play it by ear depending on how I recovered after the 70.3. I landed up having a pretty decent week, with 1 short swim, 1 short run and about 5.5 hours on the trainer (I was on call all weekend). Our cycling holiday is in 2 weeks so I'm going to be prioritizing the bike training between now and then.

The big news in this household is that we've both signed up for IMC in Penticton next year. In my head I alternate between "WHAT WERE WE THINKING?" and "THIS IS GOING TO BE SO MUCH FUN".

Happy Monday Ladies!

Thanks for getting us started Dr. TC. And OORAH for signing up for MCM! Maybe if you have time while you're here, we can grab a coffee or something.

GN- Congrats on your first HM! There's nothing like your first of any distance, and I hope you remember all the fun that went into your awesome day.

Sher- YAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAY IMC!!! Once the urge to puke into the nearest trash receptacle passes, you're going to have a blast with planning and training . Can't wait to hear all about it!

Last week's focus was to get back to the long grind. And yes I did. I hit all of my workouts, even with having to rearrange most of my week due to a missed swim (all of the guards decided to play hooky so we couldn't get in the pool. WTF YOUTHS). I am tired, but not miserably so. Which is a good thing because

This week's focus: IM 70.3 MAINE!

M- Rest (nailin' it. Also I have a board meeting tonight)
Tu- 2300m swim (hooray for early hours at the outdoor 25m pool!) and 3mi run brick. Also, another Meeting Of The Century
W- 30min bike and 3.3mi run brick
Th- 2000m swim and a fun day at the museum. I'm going to be on the Sidedoor podcast, woo! Also, packing
F- Rest (aka travel day!)
Sa- Pre-race brick, check in, racking, all that fun stuff
Su- 1.2mi swim, 56mi bike, and 13.1mi run :)

That would be fun! I'll keep it in mind as we get closer to the weekend.
Have an awesome race Sunday! Sooo jealous.

Thanks for getting us started Dr. Tigerchik -- I lived in DC and have cheered the MCM many times.

Dr_Cupcake, MAINE! Have a great race.

Scheherazade, Penticton sounds amazing. Glad you've recovered well.

GiantNewb, nice work on the 13.1, good luck on Saturday and with the start of school.

My goals last week were the standard stuff:

I'm traveling this week (and next week) so it's more of the same but with more dirt and trail for the bikes and runs.

I hinted at dirt but what I ended up doing was 2 swims, 4 runs (3 trail!), and 4 bikes with one of those bikes being a 140 mile gravel race with 10K of climbing in Colorado.

IT WAS EPIC!

I wasn't there to go fast, I was there to have a really fun time on a rolling buffet in a spectacular place. I nailed it :)

This week I'm on the road again and have 4 swims, 4 runs, and 4 bikes and my beloved rest day (today).

Happy training y'all.

Hello lovely womens and happy hump day!

Dr. T, here's hoping for a happy hip. Yay for signing up for a marathon!
GiantNewb, yay for your first half-marathon! Hopefully back-to-school time is going smoothly.
Scheherazade, I am VERY much looking forward to following your IMC training here, so you better keep us posted. ; )
Dr_C, yay race week! Wishing you a calm week with no niggles, sniffles, or bad weather. Also, I totally feel your pain with hooky-playing lifeguards... I actually gave up early morning swims at one pool because they were just not reliable.
SoCal, that gravel race sounds like quite the adventure! What an awesome time.

Last week was pretty good because I made almost no social plans, haha. Three runs -- I can tell I have to rebuild some of my running fitness, but everything except the lungs felt OK -- three rides, some PT, a weights video, and a small bit of yoga. A pretty well-rounded week except for still lacking motivation to try to get back in the pool. Eh, I have limited spare time right now and it's just not a priority. In related news, I learned the duathlon I did last year isn't returning this year, which is a big bummer. Had I realized that ahead of time I would have tried to do another one before the end of summer. There is one in a few weeks a bit of a drive away, so right now it's a big maybe.

This week is off to a slow start. Work is entering a busy phase for a few weeks and I am also trying to negotiate a Big Life Change, which burned up all of my mental energy yesterday. We ended up playing hooky last night and going out for burgers at this place that cooks their french fries in lard and yes, it's amazing as it sounds (sorry, vegetarian friends). It was also 90-something degrees and ridiculous humidity so it was a good day to skip a run. I have to be at the office late today but am hoping to squeeze in that missed run and get back into my routine by tomorrow.

I hope you all are having a wonderful week.

French fries cooked in lard are the best! Rick Stein has a fish and chip shop in Padstow, Cornwall where the chips are cooked in beef drippings. So good.
