Movie sequels

Just read a (clickbait) article discussing some sequels coming to Hollywood in the coming months. Some potentially exciting others more what??!

In no particular order:

Indiana Jones (what?!)

Gladiator 2 (what?!!)

Avatar 2 (3, 4, 5)... Not sure about this one. Maybe one will be fun?

Ted and Bill face the music (a serious WTF)

Dark Phoenix (with Sophie Turner continuing her descent into latex outfits I suppose but could be cool)

Night of the living day official sequel. (exciting)

Zombieland 2 not sure...

Doctor Sleep. Sequel of the Shining. Now that could be pretty cool.

Thoughts? Slowguy get your reviewing skills ready.

King adaptations are hit or miss. Mostly miss. One "sequel" you didn't mention was IT, and that looks as terrifying as the first one.

Yeah, IT should be a good Part 2. Kind of glad the broke this one up into the early years and late years.

Here's a real head scratcher I just heard today.

Chris Rock rebooting the Saw franchise.

on this one at least everybody got lucky and Kubrick hit it out of the park -- the sequel might get a great director for this reason alone

Bill & Ted ... sure, why not? Jay & Silent Bob are coming back

Isn't Dark Phoenix almost exactly the same as Last Stand?

Zombieland 2 ... yes; more rules, please

I don't remember Last Stand, but Dark Phoenix should be a lot like X-Men 3

I'm really curious about this. I thought this was one of King's better recent novels - a worthy sequel to a classic. However, the subject matter was particularly tough to stomach - child torture and murder. There was a particular passage in the novel that was quite disturbing. It will be interesting to see how this is handled. I guess IT had some of the same issues though.

Freedom just around the corner for you. But with the truth so far off, what good will it do?

Stephen King would disagree with you. He hated Kubrick's movie and didn't like Nicholson as Jack either. He said in the movie, Jack started crazy and just got crazier, where in the book it is a slow descent into madness.

I'd say King's movie adaptations are mostly miss. Interesting that his most successful adaptation (i'm guessing) The Shining, he doesn't like. Kind of strange, since he has has created so much rich content. I guess Misery was pretty darn good as a movie.

King also insists on being the reader for his audio books (at least he used to) which was excruciating to listen too. I stopped listening to his books because of it, it was so annoying.

You are forgetting Shawshank Redemption, one of the greatest movies of all time. And the Green Mile. And Stand By Me.

Misery is up there, IT has been great so far.

Not directly related, but my wife and I don’t go to movies any more due to the 3D and other “enhancements”

I wanted to and was willing to pay...say 100$ for Endgame and a nice burger/beer out, but every show was 3D or that other sound enhancement that gives me a migraine.

I hope if Avatar comes out that they have a normal version.

I hate 3D movies unless the 3D really does enhance the viewing experience and was meant to be part of the film's cinematography... like Avatar. I think everyone would disagree with you about watching Avatar in 2D. Have you watched Avatar without 3D? Yeah, it's not a very good movie.

There were a shit ton of non-3D viewings in my local theaters. More than 3D.

And you sound like...

I would agree with this, I didn't like the movie. The book was awesome and the movie just never felt right to me. King puts so much description into everything, there isn't enough time to do all of that in the movie.

OK fair enough and good points. All those are great movies. I guess my memory has been jaded by the real stinkers.

To be honest, I'm having trouble getting excited about any of those.
