Accommodations Old Orchard Maine 70.3

Finding the cost ridiculous for a weekend stay, even in Portland. Anyone looking for a roomie or have room for one? Split costs etc. Coming from Ottawa. Not a rookie!

Can't help as I'm not racing it this year but we stayed at Waves Oceanfront last year and it was reasonable, I think $239/night. Nothing fancy but right on the water with beach access and a pool/jacuzzi. I think it's about 3/4 mile from transition. Good luck!

Check out AirBnBs in Portland. I was able to find something at ~$150/night.

Last year we stayed in a fantastic airbnb in Portalnd for $160/night after taxes, fees, etc. I would steer clear of Old Orchard Beach. The accommodations seemed pretty dated and were extremely overpriced due to the race. Portland is a much cooler place to stay anyways. It's a bit of a drive but worth it for the restaurants, post race brewery visits, and all around great vibes the city has to offer. If you're looking for some recommendations shoot me a PM and I can give some pointers based on our trip.

I also stayed at waves when I did it as a rev 3. At the time, the motel was literally right behind the swim start. That may have changed though.
We liked being right on the beach.

Yeah the swim start is near the pier now, maybe 1/2 mile away from Waves.

I'd second the idea that Portland is an overall better place to stay if you're coming from out of town and don't mind the drive on race morning. Just keep in mind that it's the height of tourist season in Maine so everything is likely to be crowded and expensive there too. It's not just because of the race.

My $0.02, I would stay over by transition. Easy to get your bike and gear back checked into transition and back to your room at the end of the race and nobody minds a little walk to the water while clearing the head on race morning while you're still fresh.

We stayed at the Biarritz. Yes, it was by the train tracks and not somewhere I'd normally stay but it was a great location for the race, affordable and super clean.
