Could fill up this year since they give more Kona slots. Am I wrong on this ?

I booked Louisville about 4 weeks before the race last year.
The race takes place later in the year (as I understand it) than previous years and the weather become a factor. It was about 48f (that's 8c) at the start, with rain, all day and a shortened swim because the river couldn't be slowed as the dam wasn't closed upstream (because of the rain).
Go look at the results.
A lot (a lot) of DNFs.

I was there last year - those were anomalous conditions. Wouldn't hesitate to sign up if weather is a concern. Weather happens everywhere.

I should clarify, I booked my ticket to Kona there, and you're right, sometimes the weather works in your favour.
Realistically, how many people sign up for an IM because of the number of Kona Spots... 100-200 maybe
