How are you and how was your week?
Did you play a prank today? Did you get pranked?

maybe she's born with it, maybe it's chlorine
If you're injured and need some sympathy, PM me and I'm very happy to write back.

goals for this week: outdoor long run check , another outdoor run nope , swim 5x check, bike 2x did one

5 swims: 6325 yds
1 bike: 6 mi
7 runs: 63.4 mi run (long run 20 mi outdoors)

goals this week: run mileage total 50 or less; swim 5x; bike twice

doing super well w/ healthy coping skills - on day 18!

Prank I played: took a flat box for donuts and glued cheerios in it, then painted them pink on top for glaze. It's in the office break room.
Other prank I played: told some colleagues I got a paper accepted at a #1 journal. Fooled them all (then told them no, I did not, I don't have anything under review there).
Prank I did not fall for: the one the grad students set up involving upside down glasses of water. But the day is young...

Happy Monday, Ladies!

Dr. TC- Hooray for a good stretch of healthy habits! Are you glad that the 100/100 is done? You were amazing!

Last week's goal was the slay the beast and I am happy to report that I am the only one that remains standing. SLAIN. 242 miles of swimming, biking, and running in 7 days and I am absolutely hearing colors and tasting sounds today. I did a social media takeover on IG for Tailwind and I pretty much can't look at myself on there right now because HOLY CRAP THE BAGS UNDER MY EYES. I feel tired and dumpy and insatiably hungry right now. I had a midweek meltdown over many things all at once and I told this to IronBae and she just laughed and said "Yep! Right on Schedule!". It absolutely helped to break me out of that anxiety-laced fog and I just crushed it this weekend.

This week's goal- Recover and Race!

M- REST OMG ALLLLL THE REST
Tu- 1600yd swim, 4mi run, and conditioning
W- 60min Zwift session and yoga stretches, and then volunteering at the museum all day.
Th- IM distance swim
F- Choice day! Idk what I'll do yet, depends on the weather. I may go for a hike. I may go to yoga. Or I may choose more rest. Either way I have a longass massage that night ;)
Sa- 60min ride with the team
Su- Cherry Blossom 10 miler! And then brunch with the team!

As far as April Fools goes, I am boring this year. Hubs is out of town (joke was on me when I had to have him at the airport at 6am...) and I'm basically being a hermit this week.

Thanks for getting us started Dr. Tigerchik, great job on your coping skills and nice work on the 20 miler.

Dr_Cupcake, good work on that monster week!

My goals were:
Quote:
4 swims, 3 bikes, and FIVE RUNS(!) - the mileage isn't high but I haven't run 5 times in a week in 15+ years and I'm a mix of thrilled and terrified.

I did it all but the only thing that mattered to me was the runs. My 5th run was an hour build were I took :10 off every mile with a fast finish. After, I took a cheesy photo for the 'gram and my eyes filled up with happy tears that I blamed on the sunshine. I feel good! 5 days a week and back-to-back running won't be the norm but this was a super huge deal personally.

I'm racing this weekend and training is lighter -- 3 swims, 4 bikes, and 3 runs including the race.

No pranks but my Dad thought I was pranking when I told him I'd run 5 times because he couldn't believe it either:D

Happy training y'all.

nice job on the big week, Dr.C.
SoCal, awesome 5 runs!

I got pranked by a combined bowl of skittles and m+ms. I knew both were in there and thought I managed to take just skittles. Nope!

maybe she's born with it, maybe it's chlorine

Hi ladies,

Holla all you womens kicking butt! Dr. TC, Cupcake, Socal, you are so awesome! Great job high five!!!

Last week I was fighting a cold, so I didn't get to everything I'd hoped, but I'm reasonably happy with my choices given the constraints. This week, I'm behind on two deadlines, and I just got picked for a jury today, on a trial that should last all week. I have to say that I'm starting to get a little frustrated. I was killin' it (relatively speaking, for me, not in comparison to you amazing people), but the last few weeks, every week there's been something big getting in the way. Jury duty, sickness, a big conference for a scholarly society I'm on the board of (although, I kinda rocked that week too...). I just really struggling to come to terms with how much I'll have to hustle to find time for this moving forward. I'm thinking about becoming one of those people who wakes up at like 4 am to work out.

Think I'm a little grumpy because of this trial. On the upside, last week I took my new bike out for a few spins and I'm very happy with it. And the running continues to improve on schedule without pain. That's the most important part for me to reach my goals this year, and it's right on "track" (pun intended).

This week:

M: Swim 1 hr.
T: Run 30 mins, strength
W: Bike 1 hr.
Th: Run 30 mins, strength
F: Swim 1 hr.
Sa: Run 45 mins, bike 2 hrs.
Su: Rest

SoCal - Yay for personal milestones! Happy racing this week.
Dr TC - No April Fool's stuff over here.

My goals were: 4 x swim/bike/run and 2 x strength and apart from 1 swim I did it all. I didn't regret skipping that Friday swim and lingering over my oats and coffee instead; and like to think that I was rewarded for that mental flexibility by the 35 second 1500m pool PR on Saturday.

This week, the same goals. Kicked it off with a good swim at the nice pool while the damage to my car was fixed. The service advisor tells me he's seen the aftermath of lots of similar incidents and I got off relatively lightly.

Meh training week last week. I ended up taking Monday as a rest day and my sister-in-law unexpectedly came into town, so we did family things Friday night and Saturday afternoon. I had already had plans with my parents Saturday night to go to the velodrome -- my dad had never been, and since he went through a cycling phase when we were little and did a century, I thought he would like it. He did, and we had a lot of fun, but I was ready for a family-free day on Sunday. =) I only managed three trainer rides and a weights video all week but at least it was something.

This week I am unhappily back to PT. My first session was last night and the consensus is that my hamstring isn't torn but just strained and weak (or is that me? haha). So I have yet another batch of strengthening exercises to do and I go back on Friday. I am hoping to start working with a running form coach soon because I'm sure my crappy form from being an adult-onset runner is NOT helping, and maybe she can help me identify weaknesses before they turn into strains so I never have to go back to PT! I like my therapist and the staff there, I am just grouchy that I have to go at all.

I didn't do any pranks this year or get pranked, but I enjoyed seeing the funny stuff on Instagram (although I really would enjoy a pickle-flavored Huma gel). A few years ago I filled a donut box with broccoli and I got quite a few angry reactions. Apparently people have strong feelings about broccoli. XD

Dr. T and Dr_C, awesome training! Good luck at your 10-miler, Dr_C! And awesome building back up to all that running with no pain, SoCal.
Newb, hope you are feeling better and the trial doesn't last all week. It's so frustrating to get into a groove and then life gets in the way.
Scheherazade, sometimes you just need a rest day. Glad your car was fixed and that it wasn't worse.
Anna, good luck with the niggle and the daughter!
