Tacoma Routes
Just found out I'll be spending a week in Tacoma, WA this summer (mid July) for work. I'll be bringing my bike. Anyone have any route suggestions? When traveling to places I haven't been (like this) I generally prioritize routes with scenery and climbing, preferably both if possible, as we don't have a lot of either of those where I'm at. So if you have a favorite route starting somewhere close-ish to Tacoma, let's hear it.

And if you're up for joining me, even better.

Thanks.

Havent ridden around Tacoma, the only thing I can think of is the InterUrban trail that you can jump on and go south towards Ortig or go north towards Lake Washington.
Most of the loops are around Lake Washington, Lake Sammamish, Cougar Mountain in Bellevue is a giant hill - you can get quite a lot of climbing going up and down the various climbs in that area.
Closer to you, you can go up to Mud Mountain Dam - thats a fun climb thats also part of a race in that area

A list of climbs in the area (fairly old, not updated in a while) http://www.bicycleclimbs.com/ClimbList.aspx
Pierce County (Tacoma) has a bike map - https://www.co.pierce.wa.us/2219/Bike-Map
Cascade Bicycle club has a bunch of maps - https://www.cascade.org/explore/bike-maps

If you will have access to a car, there are some beautiful climbing routes around Mount Rainier, for example the road up to the Sunrise Visitor Center. If heading up on the weekend they can get a lot of car traffic, so I would go early.

I'll definitely have access to a car. Mt. Rainier was my first thought. So that will definitely happen.

I believe you can still ride across the Narrows Bridge(s) which is a nice view.

Another fun ride is to go past the Chambers Bay golf course, follow Chambers Creek road down the hill, past Sunnyside park into Steilacoom. Going back up that is a nice little climb too.
