Running in Savannah, GA

Visiting for a long weekend and staying downtown. I saw a few older posts about group rides, but any suggestions on safe running routes accessible from downtown? Looking to get a few runs in the 4-8 mile range.

honestly, having travelled there weekly for work for a couple years and stayed downtown, there isn't much. Not many sidewalks. I'd suggest loops of forsyth park or the treadmill.

Tybee island was a nice place to run, might be worth the drive.

Last year I stayed in Savannah near Forsyth Park and just ended up running loops around it. The rest of the area in the Historic district had too many lights, so I made it simple and just ran loops. The perimeter of the park is almost exactly 1 mile btw - whoever laid out must have been a runner!

Next races on the schedule: none at the moment

+1 to what everyone else said. Spent 4 weeks working downtown last year. Forsythe Park and also Daffin Park are the only options I found that were decent and allowed for continuous running. Daffin is about a 15 min run from downtown. There are sidewalks all the way there, albeit sketchy sidewalks. Perfectly safe to run on if you watch your step. Daffin has a rubberized lane (think like a rubber track surface, one lane wide) so it’s good for speed work if you need.

Your speed matters a lot, sometimes you need to be very fast, where sometimes you need to breakdown your speed.

Thanks, all. Advice was pretty spot-on. I ended up doing a 5 mile run around Forsyth park (which was nice if you don't mind loops) and a longer run out to Daffin Park. Otherwise, there's too many intersection and sketchy sidewalks to do much running downtown.
