what options do you mean? i want a good between the bars hydration similar to what the slx 8.0 will have but i figured the slx would be very hard to come by after talking with the sales rep.

The Canyon Speedmax CF SLX only come in one crank length. My Medium is a fairly long 175mm. Also the stem length is what ever your frame size dictates.
On the European site you can order different wheels sets or bar shapes. These are not yet available in the US.
They build a really cool rear bottle mount, but they are always out of stock.

I second Brad's request!

I may be biased, but the CF is our little secret model. It's the bike with the a true real-world geometry (slightly taller stack and shorter reach than the SLX), and with a standard 1 1/8" steerer, can adjust (and pack/travel to races) with typical ease, allows you to install the cockpit of your choice, and with direct-mount brakes, is easy to wrench. The SLX is the bike we may want, but the CF is the bike a lot of us need... whether it's due to cost, fit, etc. For most of us, the CF is the right bike.

We still have a few CFs in stock right now in various builds. As a point, we may run out and with long lead times, may experience a gap in availability. And with the end of the 2018s coming soon, we'll gird up for the 2019s (which ought to be different only in colorways). So... if you're thinking about a CF and your size is in stock, don't think too long. It won't be on the challenge level of the SLX models in terms of availability... but it's getting there as word gets out about how rad a bike the CF is.

Ping me with any questions as they relate to the CF.... or SLX, or Aeroad or any of our bikes. I'll be chiming in on the Speedmax SLX Owners thread as well every so often.

The CF is the bike to buy for sure, seems very similar in spec and price to the Felt IA 10-16

I purchased the CF two weeks ago and I'm very happy with the bike. My previous bike was undersized for me so I don't know my "true" fit but this bike has allowed me to dial in my fit. I'm more of DIY type person so it will take me a couple weeks to get it right. I changed to the Tri rig stim inorder to clean up the front and the bare brake cable just looks sleek. I only wish the CF came with storage next to seat post then this bike would be perfect (too good for the price). My only grip is the unavailability of the rear bottle mount.....I mean come on. I hope ya'll shipping enough over in July to account for all the US speedmax purchases.

are there Di2 shift buttons on the bars as well as the extensions on the CF 8.0? I get mine tuesday and wondering what upgrades i will need to do!!

Speedmax owners. Curious as to how many spacers you have on bars? (From basebar to extensions)

I have 2x2cm + 2x0.5cm and the tilt spacer. In total it's 6cm from the basebar to the start of the extension mounts.

what are people using for a rear hydration set up. Has anybody found a good mounting bracket for the seat post screws?

Yep they're buttons on the bars but they can only control your RD.

Currently using 2 Gorilla cages on the bottom, I just upgraded to the PD Ultimate Steam and am waiting for delivery of the PD Aeria Hydration system which may not arrive till end of the month. UGH.

I'm only running one bottle behind the saddle. But made a neat and cheap solution by drilling an extra angled hole in a sturdy plastic cage and zip-tie the top of it to the saddle. Its rock solid and lightweight!

I bought this one for my Speedmax. I just called Canyon for the gazillionth time and they still don't have an ETA for the bottle holder.

Im assuming the hole you drilled matches up with the seat post screw hole for the bottom?

I called Canyon and they said August for the rear mount. I was just looking for an option for next weekend lake placid.

Yes. Made the hole by eye measurement and used the drill to increase the hole diameter vertically for extra adjustability. But since the cage is plastic, its quite flexible. I put a 5mm spacer and a piece of old tube (for scratch protection) between the seat post and the cage

I'm looking at ordering one of these and would like to know from existing owners how easy it is to remove the stem and bars for packing into a BikeBox Alan for air travel. In the photo the cables all disappear into the top tube storage box. Do you need to remove the box?

I am also looking at the new 2019 Boardman ATT 9.0. One difference I have noted is that the Canyon chainstays are 20mm longer @ 420mm and the stem is 20mm shorter @ 90mm. The Canyon wheelbase is also 20mm longer @ 1037mm. This is for the large size, I am 188cm tall. Would I be right in thinking that this might result in the Boardman being a bit more twitchy / responsive and the Canyon being more forgiving and less stressful on technical courses?

Both bikes are mail order only, so a decent test ride is not an option. The 2017 Boardman got very good test reviews for it's ride and handling but haven't found any tests / reviews that compared the two against each other.

This will be my first Tri bike, my main bike is a Canyon Endurace with disc brakes. I live in the Scottish Highlands, so the roads are quite lumpy, hence my concern about handling, particularly on steep descents.

Hi, I have 2018 Speedmax CF 8 and did two airtrips already. Preparing the bike for the fly and putting back together is piece of cake. Just have some carbon grease with you and you are all set.

Sizing Question

trying to figure out that correct size for the Speedmax CF (Not the SLX!). Maybe you can help :)
Bike-fitter of trust specced my long-leg, short-torso, stone-like-flexibility into:

• Saddle Height: 775mm
• Arm Pad Stack: 710mm (make sure to stop laughing after 5minutes to avoid injury!)
• Arm Pad Reach: 470mm
• Saddle setback: 0mm (from tip of saddle to center of bottom bracket)
• Drop to pad: 60mm (From saddle to top of pad)
• Drop to bars: 120mm (From saddle to top of bar)

So best as I can tell, I can go with either a size M or a size L, both seem compromisy:

Option A Going for size M

• Saddle height is within the range
• Arm pad reach can be hit
• Arm pad stack is 18mm outside the spec

So from how I understand the "Profile Design Riser Kit" I could extend this towards 70mm and hit 702mm, which is almost there. Some stretching then ;)

Option B Going for size L

• Saddle height is at the total minimum, which is exactly 775! (Makes me super nervous)
• To hit the arm pad reach I have to get my hands on a 70mm version of the stem (didn't see it in store)
• Arm pad stack is within the spec (No extra risers needed)

Questions:

• Am I somewhere off, any misconceptions on my sides?
• Did anyone measure the a real bike against the geometry chart? Is the geometry spec from Canyon a promise or more of an estimation?
• Anyone experience with high riser setups (for M size)? Is it still comfy to get to the bars then?
• Anyone experience in getting a shorter stem from Canyon?
• Anyone put in some other (cheap) non-Canyon to increase stack/decrease reach
• Would you run with the L being at total minimum height? Change in saddle, cleats, shoes could skrew me up heavily.

I'm concerned that there isn't enough exposed cable to move the bars very far away when the stem is removed. The cables look like they are ziptied to something in the energy box, which is why I wondered if you need to remove the box?
I know with my Road bike that the handlebars need all the slack cable to be able to fit them in a secure position in the box.

My LBS got my cables pretty far away into my basebar. I'm riding a 110mm stem.


Also, I've flown with my bike 6 times already and no problem. Super easy to take apart and put together.

I've found that I can ride my CF almost like my road bike (Boardman Air Elite 9.8). I live in a very hilly and twisty area, and it handles very well.

Three is enough cable (on my 80 stem) to put in on the side of the frame and secure. But be sure to put some sponge or buble plastic so the bar doesn't skratch from the frame.

Odd but honest question:

After lengthy discussions with Canyon's US service centers on the shortage of Speedmax CF 8.0 Di2 - I was given a subtle indication that some guys have been acquiring the Speedmax WMN CF 8.0 LTD. This is a Women's version of the bike, however specs are similar (changes in saddle, wheels, etc.) and the geometry is closer between the two than I would expect. I fit as "M" size on both geometries, after inputting my data.

Is it too crazy to for a guy to use the WMN model? I like the aesthetics and would appreciate some opinions if you consider this feasible or not, and any other insights. Both geometry charts attached.

Im pretty sure the actual frame is the same between the male and female models. Only difference be the length of the stem with +1cm on male versions, and then color scheme, saddle, wheels and other accessories as you also mention yourself.

I have 0 spacers. As a matter of fact, I just removed the 4 cm plastic spacer below the stem and it seems to be the right hight for me.

Only difference between the 2 is the -10mm on the stem for the W version. I bought a CF 9.0 W version last year.

I have a size M and i'm 5'11, I had to use ALL the spacers that were given to me.

Done a few changes to my ‘bottom of the line ‘ Speedmax CF 7.0 2018 model and a small hack with the rear bottle cage i posted earlier.

Changed mechs and shifters to Campa Chorus and crankset to Rotor 3D24 (plug’n’play) with P2M powermeter and 54-42 chainrings. Changed freeweel hub on Cosmics to Campa and could then use the provided wheels for training. Changed saddle to Adamo because the Fizik were too wide for me...

Here is my setup from last weekends race. PD Aeria Ultimate stem and hydration, F40 pads. Zero spacers under pads and I also removed the spacer under the stem.

Hey timppis, did you actually cut the steerer after removing that 4cm spacer? I just removed it myself but wondering whether to cut the carbon steerer or keep it in case I don't like the new position

timppis - could you pls post some closer photos of your cockpit. I am curious how does Aeria reservoir fit in relation to a head tube, front brake cable and a front brake when installed on a PD Aeria Ultimate stem.

btw this combo has a pretty hefty weight according to specs on their website. Stem 100mm 455g + 420g reservoir

Yes, I shortened the steerer. Before cutting it I trained couple months (winter time) inside on a trainer and tried if the lower setup suits me.

I will post some close ups of the setup soon. The stem is rather heavy but I don’t see that as a huge problem.

Haven’t had time to trim the rubber “thing” hugging the frame, currently there is some extra overlapping with the head tube.

Is anyone running HED Jet Black / Jet + wheels with 25mm tires on the Speedmax CF? Any issues with tire/wheel fitment and rub?

I don't think this will be an issue. The DT Swiss ARC 1400 real wheel on my Speedmax CF has a 28mm external width and came with a 25mm Continental GP Force. Fits perfectly. Hope this helps.

During my first season, I've used a second hand tri-bike that has served me OK-ish but is definitely not a bike to keep for longer term so with the Speedmax CF 7.0 currently discounted @ €1799, this is the most interesting bike for next season.

However now I am struggling with a sizing issue regarding the Speedmax that I'd like some advice on, see my "spec's" below (taken from current bike which might be slightly too low and too long however for 1/4 distance the fit seems perfect):
- 186cm tall, (90cm inseam, long arms, shortish core, good flexibility in general)
- seat @ 82cm
- pad-stack >605mm (centre)
- pad-reach <530mm (centre)

So basically I need a somewhat long&low / stretched position, close to what I have now
Easiest would be an SLX however that is a no-go (budget-wise).

It seems both Medium and Large have it's problems with regards to my fit, (numbers from Canyon geometry tables):
Medium:
- seat-height: 750 - 880 (820 is right in the middle)
- pad-stack: 605 - 692 so this would fit as 605 is really my minimum stack (flat back)
- pad-reach: 467 - 492 this seems fairly short to me; however might be solved with a longer stem (Aeria)

Large:
- seat-height: 775 - 905 (820 is right in the middle albeit on the lower side)
- pad-stack: 627 - 714 This would be 20mm too tall
- pad-reach: 488 - 513 this is workable, maybe with a longer stem as well

For the medium, my major concerns would be: possibly a somewhat crunched position? and possibly clearance issues between base-bar and knees for out-of-saddle riding

For the large, I feel the fit might be better but only if it would be possible to loose 20mm somewhere in the front-end (spacer)? is there such possibility? or could a lower stack base-bar solve the issue?

any advice?

Hi, been looking at the CF as where i live, tri bike options are limited, and just seeking clarification on how easy it is to change the cockpit, as looking at the pictures, the deisgn (shape) of the stem makes me think that it wouldn't be as easy as just putting any other stem on the frame. Is it a simple case of just swapping out stems, or is something more complicated involved? To explain, my road bike has a stack of 562, so the quoted minimum of 553 for the XS will potentially leave me unable to get as low as i want (sorry, it's not real-word geo for me). Could i work around it by just undermounting the T4 extensions?

Also, I would need the lower stack nutrition box, but I can't see where I would order it from on the main Canyon webiste (I don't live in the US). Hence, would be grateful if you could point out where I might find it. Thanks in advance.

PS: Do you have the standover height for the XS?

You're absolutely right. The flare at the back of the stem is only there for negligible aero (cosmetic) effect as it meets with the front of the storage box. So yes, you will lose that effect if you switch stems, but it does indeed remove (with a pair of 5mm bolts at the base of the stem) from the steerer like any other stem.

For sure, you can get lower, but will need to replace the Profile Design J4 bracket that comes with the bike, with their L2 bracket to get the extensions below the basebar. Totally doable.

Just went to check the XS Speedmax CF in our demo fleet; standover height on the XS is 73.5cm

Finally, low stack nutrition boxes are in the same boat with the rear bottle bracket of the Speedmax SLX; we have no ETA on arrival into the U.S. for them as yet.

I'm 184cm and went with M. Did two 70.3 and 5150 this season and the bike seemed fine. Now I'm trying to adjust the fit: removed the spacer under the stem so dropped it by 4cm. Swapped stem from 80 to 90mm and have longer extensions to be installed. After all those modifications my position will be super low and hopefully I can train during the winter to be comfortable with it for half/future full distance.

At 184cm/6'0, you're a medium all day, so you 100 percent have the right size.

And yep, take the winter to train to the position....but be sure to come up as you need, to be able to ease into it through the winter.

My wife just got the Speedmax WMN CF 8.0 LTD and we are looking at her race wheel options. She has an Zipp 808/404 setup she used on her previous TT bike, but the 808 isn't 11speed compatible (pre-Firecrest). My question is, how aero are the Reynolds Strike SLG compared to a 2007 808? I haven't seen any windtunnel data on the Reynolds. Thanks in advance!

I'm 186 myself. Need Pad-stack of 605 (lower not needed), Pad-reach 530 (maybe a bit shorter)

Would a Medium fit me if I would replace the stem with a 100mm Aeria? (would be my idea anyway to also include the hydration) or better to go with a Large and then use a lower-stack basebar?

You should let a good fitter help you decide on size. Totally comparing apples to oranges here, but I am your size (185cm) and on my Aeroad I am a size XL. That makes a size medium sound small.

Just because the existing hub isn't compatible doesn't mean you can't upgrade the wheel. Find a local quality wheelbuilder and have them lace a brand new 11s compatible hub to the 808. You just have to pay for new spokes (bladed is around $3 each or so...I think, and a hub, which can be $50-400 depending on how nice a one you want). Plus maybe an hour or two of labor to put it together. I'd personally get a DT Swiss hub (DT240s are really nice or to save a little money DT350 works well too but are heavier).

Not necessary cheap but probably less hassle trying to sell that wheel and buy another one. Or you could do the 11s tricks out there for 10s only hubs. Or just buy they Edco monoblock 11s cassette (not cheap either but probably cheaper than rebuilding the wheel with a new hub though).

At 184-185 cm a size M would be too small. I first ordered size M, but the frame felt too short - maybe suitable for short TT and sprint tri , so I replaced it with a L size Speedy CF and being 185cm, inseam 87cm it seems it fits well now. I did some 70.3 and it is very comfy.

Swapping a stem or extensions does not solve the problem of having a short frame , your center of gravity is not where it should be.

Unfortunately Canyon size calculator does not work for everyone.

I’m currently looking at the Speedmax CF 7, which is on sale right now.

I used PPS, and its advice was that I need a size S, which surprised me a bit as I’m 177/5’10” with a 82/32” inseam, 82kg/180lbs not flexible.
It did note however that according to my height I would be size M, but due to an ideal seat height of 72,6cm according to PPS, I’m a better match for a size S.

So I concluded that I have short legs for a person my height.

I currently ride a Cervelo S5 2012 in size 54 (stack 555, reach 378).
Setup with drop bars, 90mm stem and rear seat post (73*) hole is comfortable. Setup with brezza tri bar 20mm rizer, 90mm stem and front seatpost (75*) hole, is too bunched up. I tried a lot of different settings/saddles. Only thing I’ve found comfortable was a longer stem 130mm. The longer stem works great on the trainer but is very dangerous for my biking abilities when riding outdoors.

Can anyone offer me a view on the S vs M sizing question? Or is the geometry of the SpeedMax CF not a good fit for a person with my morfology.

I'm about the same size as you. Ride a 56 Cervelo P3 (but I would have fit on a 54 too). Just bought a Canyon cyclocross bike and they recommended a small, even though I thought I would be medium. The small fits perfect. Awesome bike. The small cyclocross bike is very close in size to my 56 Cervelo.

Indeed, our size labeling tends to run small when compared to other brands. I have ridden a 56 all my life, and ride a medium in Canyon bikes. So a 54 lines up perfectly for a size small.

As to your morphology, best bet is to call our in-house team (phone number lives at the top of the website), and they can walk you through any outliers, etc. that may preclude you from one size or another. Obviously, there's going to be a variances in balance, etc. in Your inseam doesn't seem short, so I don't see there being much outlier. But I'm not the fit expert... give our guys a call and they can walk you through it!

I'm not Jay but have CF 8 and just received seatpost mount from Canyon and it's compatible. When you look at the back of the seatpost there are two holes covered by rubber plugs. That's where the mount goes.

Not an owner yet, but am weighing my options up at roughly £2k mark so I'm looking at the 7.0.

Hopefully Jay or a 7.0 owner can confirm it's still the case with the seatpost on the lower offering.

On a separate note: I'm torn between this and the P2. Any others which should be on my radar? I'm in the UK.
Looking for primarily a good quality frame which justifies upgrades over time.

Yes! There is mounting bolts on the back of the seat post of the 7.0 also. See my previously uploaded picture with my "hack" for a simple rear bottle cage behind the saddle :-)

I have a general speedmax question. I've seen a lot of talk about the frame storage in front of the seatpost but I can't find any information about it on the website. Does that storage area come with all models? SLX only? Right now I'm bouncing between the 8.0 Di2 and the SLX 8.0 SL but I'm curious if one, both, or none of those have the storage area.

integrated storage compartment is only available on SLX model. It is in a rear frame triangle and in the top tube . This can accommodate a pump , CO2 cartridge and a very squeezed butyl inner tube. Special storage sleeve is provided for cartridges , which go further into the top tube.

I have a Speedmax 8.0 Di2, prior to that I had a 2015 P2, while the P2 was nice the Canyon felt way more stiffer and handled better. the only downside is getting bike support, I get the stink eye every time I take it to a LBS for service.

I'm looking to purchase a Canyon Speedmax, either the 8.0 or 7.0. Can anyone weigh in on whether the $1200 price difference is worth getting the 8.0 ($3700 vs $2500). In other words, how significant are the differences?

Jay, I've seen people post a picture of the Speedmax CF with a slammed stem and a shorter bento box, does Canyon offer a longer bento box for the CF models?

JTNY - very interested to see your post. I'm about 4 years on a Planet X Exocet 2. Served me very well and I think I'm finally fixed in a nice position(s) but now lusting for change. P2 / P3 has long been on the wish list Now Speedmax CF keeps making itself heard. I treated myself to an Aeroad CF SLX 2 years ago and I still absolutely love it like a new bike every time I ride it, always makes me smile. Never really believed top end bikes could be that much better than cheaper rides, bu I do now. Corners like it is on rails but also retains all day comfort, and yes, just feels stiffer. P2/3 looks like it should be faster to me but your comment makes me suspect I might always regret not going for the CF. My Exocet handles ok, but you can't take liberties with it or you're headed for the ditch. And I always wonder just how well the power gets transmitted. On the Aeroad it's like I turned into a climber overnight. Obviously a bit lighter but I'm sure it's more than that. Just feels like everythng you put into the pedal goes direct to the road with nothing being soaked away. You've answered the question already really but just to confirm - no regrets going from P2 to CF?

Nope no regrets my p2 was a specs with 105s and the CF has ultegra di2 and the frame feels so much more stiffer

Yes, there is a shorter bento box, but we don't have it available in stock in the U.S. I don't think there are many that have requested it, so it's not on the hot list the way the rear hydration brackets have been. Will come back to you with some intel... but it may be a non-starter for us, for now. But the more that request it, the more often it get run up the flagpole, and it increases our chance of stocking it.

Jay, what about a longer bento box which stretches further down the top tube?

I own a Speedmax CF Di2 from 2017 and have been super happy with it in Races. The fit is perfect. However recently the cockpit has been bothering me more and more. I mean the cables from the bar to the di2 Box, the non-integrated aero bars etc.
Have some of you addressed these issued with rebulding the cockpit? For example with an Aeria ultimate stem and base bar? Or in any other way?

Or just get a new integrated frame?

CanyonJay is it possible to mount my Wahoo Elemnt Bolt on my hydration unit? Jan has it :) I switched from Garmin to Wahoo but the wahoo doesn't fit

Really struggling with the fit of the CF before ordering.

The size guide puts me on an XS - just sounds wrong to me.

I usually ride with my saddle around 720 from the centre of the BB.

My road bikes are always small or 52cm ish.

I'm 5 foot 6 - longer legs, shorter arms and torso.

My last bike, a Dolan Scala, fitted really well with an 80mm stem and the saddle all the way forward, but I'm struggling to compare the measurements.

Just need someone to look at them both and say yes, an XS is correct!

The last bike of which you speak, it's a tri bike, right? And are/were you comfortable on that bike? Would you want the new Speedmax to fit pretty much the same way? I'm asking because I can walk you through a pretty simple process of measuring the Pad X and Pad Y of your current bike and then we will KNOW - not only what size is right (if it's the XS or the SM)...and...specifics on the front end set up.

Yes it was a tri bike and it was Ironman comfy.

Unfortunately it's now gone so I can only estimate the dimensions.

The only dimensions I kept were my saddle height (720mm), the distance from the nose of the saddle to the stem cap bolt (420mm) and stand over height (740mm).

I've since played with the Canyon PPS and for my height, my torso and arm length don't affect the size. It's the inseam length that makes the difference. I'm about 81cm which puts me on a Small. If it was 79cm, it puts me on an XS. Isn't the consensus to go smaller on a TT frame? Saying that, Small might give me the best options as it comes with an 80mm stem so I can go a bit shorter or longer does that make sense and that I should order a small?

To answer your question directly, if both an XS and a S will fit...the bigger bike would perhaps be better for handling (considering the wheel base, front center, trail, etc). but..hold on....I'm hoping you have the patience to work through this with me.

The PPS is good. But knowing your Pad X and Pad Y is best.

Get your existing bike level: the best bet is to put in on a trainer with a wheel block under the front wheel so it's level - but you could just lean it against the wall (on a level floor) so that the bike is as straight up and down as possible. I'm going to ask you to measure a couple of things and to do this most accurately you'll want work on the non-drive side.

Measure from the floor up to top of your arm pad. Then measure from from the floor up to the center of the bottom bracket. Do the measurements a couple of times and get an average. Subtract the BB (bottom bracket) height from pad height. If you've doing this in inches then please go here and convert to millimeters. This is your Pad Y (also known as Pad Height).

Now, we need to find Pad X (aka Pad Reach). To do this you might need a hand from a friend or family member. Have them dangle a plumb line through the center of your BB (so they can hold it near the front of your saddle and then you can crouch down and guide to back up a hair or go forward a touch to get it dead center on the BB. Then measure from the plumb line to the back of the pad and to the center of the pad. I'd like to know both please. Convert this number to mm and you'll have your Pad X.

Get back to me here with your Pad X and Pad Y and I can confirm your bike purchase.

Indeed, it's possible, but Jan (as well as Team Katusha-Alpecin, as I noted on their bikes at Tour of California) cnc'd Wahoo Bolt inserts. We only offer a Garmin insert (given the brand's sheer popularity/volume) those inserts would have to be a Wahoo product. I've meant to reach out to them to find out if they will be making an insert that will work... lemme get back to you!

There is not for the CF. Being a standard 31.8 basebar (or a 22.2 extension), there are too many good computer bracket builders (K-Edge, RecMounts, BarFly, Zipp and Garmin typically provides their own with computers, etc.) for us to produce one.

If you're looking for Speedmax SLX adaptors, at the moment the best way to get them is to call in; we haven't yet updated the website with many small parts, so whether it's rear bottle brackets (which we had a limited supply of at last check a few weeks ago), angle wedges, switch plates, etc., it's best to call 833.226.9661 and ask for the pieces you are seeking. The bike comes with spacers in 5mm increments that can stack up to 80mm high.

Sorry, I misread that....wishful thinking perhaps! Do you have a rough estimate on when you think the US site will have CF SLX9.0 small bikes available?

There were a few available last week (2018 model) in size Small. I got mine in that group. No i did not get the email alert i signed up for though.

Is there any update on when the 2019 CF8.0 Di2 will be available in the US? The new blue and black styles are available on the international site and are sweet! I see that frame is in the US for the LTD model but not the standard yet. Will that be coming?

Was it a fairly straightforward process to switch over to the PD setup? Been considering this but wasn’t sure how simple of a change it was considering the cable routing

Very straightforward, at least with the di2 wires. I just unplugged the wires from the junction box and routed cables trough the stem and reconnected. The front brake was easy also, the cover of the cable just a bit too short but I got it to work (didn’t have time to tinker with it and put a new cover). The rear brake cable doesn’t go trough the stem.

hrm wonder how bad it would be for mechanical setup. Might have to do a bit more investigating because the finished product does look clean.

Does anybody have a recommendation for a hard travel case for the CF?

Can anyone show me what this team switch plate is?

The teams switch plate looks like the standard switch plate, but has more length in it, allowing it to be flipped fore or aft to provide not only more width adjust (as the standard switch plate does) but also that added fore/aft pad placement. Photo attached. As with a few accessories (including our rear bottle holder for the Speedmax SLX and CF), it's not on the website, but we do have them in stock. I have been using the Premiere Tactical Bike Box since getting my SLX, bit pricey but has been a great case thus far.

As far as a "bag", I would look into the EVOC, even though it is "soft" it is a great bag, very well constructed and I had no issues with it over the 4 years that I owned it and probably into the ~100 flights with it.

What's the max tilt you can get out of the bar?

Are you talking about the CF or the CF SLX? From what I know the CF is more of a "standard" Tri bar/stem and you can adjust the tilt really easily at the extension clamps, no additional hardware is needed.

If you are talking CF SLX (integrated bar/system), then you do need additional hardware and it is a set tilt of 9*, see pg 57 top right (https://media.canyon.com/...479096960.1502819710).

Brad's exactly right. The Angled Spacer Kit is totally separate piece that provides aerobar pad and extension on the SLX angling. And indeed, if you're on a CF, it's a standard 31.8 basebar and stem interface, in which case the Profile Design T4+ clip-ons can pivot on the basebar as you like.

On the other speedmax thread the Op said that I can get to a reach of 580 with the team switch plate in the slx. I cannot find actual stack and reach numbers or charts for this bike. Am I missing something here

If you go to and click any of the models, scroll to the bottom of the page. There, you'll find the stack/reach numbers for a given size. That said, those numbers are with stock pieces. Per usual, I don't have a switch plate on hand to measure against, but having seen one, I can say with some accuracy that it, installed in its "fore" position, will provide those extra 3cm of fore positioning to get your reach to 580.

Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately I think it's one of those things I would have to see in person and try to trust it. I've been trying to find an integrated bike that will let me hit my reach numbers and my first choice is a speed Concept in a large as they list the reach that you can hit as 584.but when you get to the nuts and bolts of it it's actually a completely unattainable number. Whoever came up with that chart and that number did not spend any real time on that damn bike.

Totally understanding your concern. I managed to go downstairs and lo and behold, a SLX that's in triage has the team switchplate. I decided to create a selection of shots here: the standard switchplate (shown in the first two frames without pad cradle and with pad cradle in its most fore position) and the team switchplate (the final two frames) shown without pad cradle and with pad cradle in its more fore position. I measure 40mm of added fore positioning (and since this piece is flippable, it can be flipped backward—or inward in that fore or aft position—in any permutation you choose. As you can see, the team switchplate offers a ton more fore/aft and width adjust variance to your pad placement.

FYI, if you decided to go ahead and take a chance on a Speedmax SLX (and get lucky whenever we get SLXs in again) and buy the team switchplate to go with it, you have 30 days to ensure the thing fits. If it doesn't, return it to us in generally new condition, in its original box, and we pay return shipping and refund you in full in order to get another size (stock permitting)... or not, if you choose to go in another direction. We want to be sure anybody going after a Canyon doesn't feels like they're locked into a purchase; we'll take care of you. We want you to be happy, and we're not worried; someone will buy the bike if it doesn't fit you. ;-)

Hope this helps illustrate the variability in pad placement/reach capability.

Yes, I could go even narrower but no bottle would fit in between my arms (planning on xlab 500) and more metal would be sticking outside (but if that's ok for F1, maybe its also good for Tri ;-). Moreover, PD Ergo or anything in the same design limits/eliminates your elbow movement so combining that with narrow setup might be difficult to handle on long course - note that Frodeno has armrests that allow some small movement. Anyway, I like this setup and feeling ok during 90mins rides. Will have to check it on 5/6hrs tho ...

Yeah, good point, bottle between the arms while being narrow and without integrated hydration system is gonna be a challenge :/ I want that watts though!! ;-)

Because the Speedmax CF uses a standard stem with a 31.8 clamp, you can remove the stock basebar and put on a one-piece bar, or leave the basebar and take off the Profile Design T4+ clip-ons (or the Profile Design 35A clip-os with subsonic brackets that now feature on the 2019 Speedmax CF) and put on any aerobar or clip-ons you want; Zipp, ENVE, 51 Speedshop's new bar, whatever. Find the narrowest pad setup you can find, load 'em up and you're set.

Those are not stock armpads. As a matter of fact it's PD ergo ...

I tossed my stock arm pads for the PD Ergo ones and was able to get much more narrow. I also tossed the long crank arms, but that's another story.

The photo above is actually fit variability for the Speedmax SLX (I wish it lived in the SLX thread)... so they're Ergon pads, built for the Speedmax SLX.

I had my Speedmax CF professionally fitted in the autumn (post season) and in the past few weeks I've been experimenting with set-up and comfort on the trainer.

It's my first TT bike so obviously there's going to be a period of adjustment. The one issue I'm wrestling with is base bar width and elbow pad width. As currently set up (based upon the bike fit), the elbow pads obstruct the hands/arms when using the bullhorns. It's not impossible to ride with on the trainer but I wouldn't want to ride a long mountain climb nor tackle a fast descent on the bullhorns with what is an awkward and unnatural grip. I tend to seek out bike courses with lots of climbing as it suits my riding background.

It seems to me that I have 2 options i) move the elbow pads and extensions inboard thereby narrowing the grip or ii) keep the pad spacing as per the bike fit and go for a wider base bar.

Looking at many images of Speedmax set up (and TT in general) most seem to have plenty of room between the outside edge of the elbow pad and the bullhorns. I'm thinking that this might just be an issue which wasn't focused on in the original fit (although it lasted 3hrs there was a lot of other issues to set right)? I'm now experimenting option ii) to determine comfort in this narrower position.

Wondering if any other Speedmax owners have experienced this with initial set-up and/or specific insights out there?

Hi Paul and everyone—

—been observing the thread for quite some time and there are a couple of things I can relate to. Purchased my Speedmax CF 8.0 in September, and undergone a bike fit soon thereafter.

Paul, I do seem to have the very same issue as you do. I’m quite fine with the base bar width, however due to the width of elbow pads, my grip is also obstructed.

It was not possible to go narrower with the stock (PD F35) elbow pads—this is why I will be swapping them with PD Ergo or Race in March.

My fitter also suggested not to go narrower as of now - this is due to the fact that my reach is shorter than it should be, and I will be replacing the stock stem with a PD Aeria Ultimate one (adding 2 cm to the reach). Wider elbow position with a shorter, 80 mm stem, facilitates breathing and I don’t need to be aero riding a turbo anyway.

I have also ordered the HSF Aeria hydration and am cutting the steerer tube soon… Until then I’m running a very weird construction with the spacer on top of the stem, clamped with the top cap. Might post a picture later :)

So... the H30 basebars is 41mm wide, measured center-to-center. Most bars (iirc) measure 40/42/44, so it's on the narrow side of medium width, by 1mm. That said, I think a lot of the challenge you're having with the pads is going to come with the Profile Design clip-on. The 2018 Speedmax CF has a PD T4+ clip-ons, and their narrowest width is 35cm. By contrast, the new 2019 Speedmax CF sees a spec change, with a Profile Design 35A with subsonic brackets. They also have greater pad width-adjust (and narrower cups). In short, if you have a 2018 bike, you'll likely have to remedy any issue with the pads hitting your forearms by getting into a different clip-on. I like the new profile spec because of both the pad width variances compared to the old one, but also the fact that it has less stack, so you can get lower.

I removed the spacer and cut the steerer tube, replaced the stem and added a really thin spacer under the stem. After that ordered the smaller bento box from Canyon. I also swapped the pads for F40, which make the look so narrow. However, F40 pads are really wide and I have a hard time finding a proper position with them and I’m planning on changing them for the race cups.

It can go 28cm outside-to-outside to outside with the pads in their innermost setting, 31cm when bolted down in the center position, and 34cm in their widest. So you definitely a get narrower pad position with the new setup. (and lower).

I noted the change on the 2019 model. For now I've moved both the pads and the extensions inboard. This creates enough clearance to ride on the bullhorns unobstructed. It feels a heap better than having to bow your wrists around the pads.

Obviously that creates a narrower aero position which I'll have to see how it works out. I've completed a couple of trainer sessions (up to 1hr) and haven't noticed a major difference when aero. Looking forward to getting outside once we emerge from winter here in the North of Scotland.

Jay, can you confirm that the switch plate (and even team switch plate) will work on the CF model, and not only the SLX?

The switch plate is specific to the integrated aerobar (and cup affixment) on the SLX . Because the CF uses standard aerobars and stem (Profile Design as spec’d, but can fit any standard 31.8 aerobar), each of which have their own bolt sizes/locations, you’re beholden to that, and their pad adjust capabilities.

So in short, the switch plates only work for the integrated bar on the SLX.

A question concerning the 25mm spacer on the front between frame and stem. The manual and the website say that the spacer can be removed in order to get lower. I keep on reading here about having to cut the steerer. Is this true? When this spacer is removed the steerer would stick out?

Yes, the 25mm spacer between the stem and the frame. You have to cut the steerer tube to make it fit flush. Otherwise you would have to put the spacer above the stem (if I understood correctly the spacer doesn’t fit above the stem without minor modification. In the picture you posted the steerer tube is cut and smaller bento box is used.

Hmm.. interesting that this is never mentioned anywhere by canyon. They keep mentioning that the spacer is intended to be removed in order to switch between time trial and triathlon setup (as they call it) but the smaller bento box has to be used to to make it fit.
But concerning the Aeria Hydration system the installation is quite easy apart from that? Just reroute cables through the new stem I guess

Yes, you can only switch the mode once, you cannot go back to the taller setup with larger bento box.

Apart from cutting the tube the installation is very easy. Just put the new stem in place and reroute the cables. I have Di2 so rerouting was really simple (Di2 cables and front brake cable, rear brake doesn’t go trough the stem.

A friend of mine have 2018 CF and his fitter drilled new holes in the armrests to get more narrow. Looks real nice, it almost looks like you are supposed to drill your own holes to get that narrow. His fitter is very well known, espacially here in sweden and he works for a world tour team that last year rode cervelo...
I own a 2018 CF to and needed to get longer so i just removed the original stem and spacer and replaced them with a 100mm stem and a couple of ordinary spacers, doesnt look to good but funcionality before looks...

That's also an option. Don't know about the new armrests on the 2019 though, they're different. They also can get narrower, 28 cm outside-to-outside according to Jay here I think. Which is nice but still not narrow.

Another option for the stem would be a Profile Design Aeria Ultimate stem. Think it also has100mm. Then you could even combine it with the Aeria Ultimate Bottle and you got an integrated Hydration System as on the SLX

Ordered a 2019 Canyon Speedmax CF 7.0 (Stealth, Medium) this morning. I wanted only the frameset but unfortunately Canyon doesnt sell it alone. Will be building up a custom bike over the next few weeks with SRAM Etap, TriRig aero bar, TriRig Omega X brakes, and Reynolds aero wheels.

Hi all - new 2019 Speedmax 8.0 CF owner here. It's my second TT bike after a couple years with a slightly-undersized 51cm P2. Just arrived this past Friday and I'm working on transferring fit from the P2, and adjusting from there. I used the PPS tool and it sized me at a Medium.

I am struggling with the extensions, which are super long. I am 5'9, and while I can get pad/saddle in the same height/fore/aft/stack/reach positions, the extension soar out several inches past my grip - and that is as far as I can possibly bring them in, due to the design. I took the bike to my LBS to cut them down, but not sure how much I can cut exactly. LBS suggested cutting 2 inches but I am almost positive that's not going to be enough. I'd like to give them some guidance.

I feel like I need almost 3 full inches to get a match between my prior arm pad-to-grip length. Is that crazy? I never had to cut anything on the P2 (unless the LBS did it before putting the bike on the floor) so this feels drastic. I'm not mechanically inclined enough to fully remove the 35a extensions and measure them...and overall having a hard time judging this since the base of the extension is enclosed in the subsonic bracket. I can see a "cut" mark but not sure what the length between the base of the extensions and the cut mark is. Is a 3 inch / ~75mm cut normal for these?

Hi Iam similar height to you but was well into a small not really close to a medium but my extensions are on max extention and fit fine.

Interesting what you other measurements are...it was a small for me.

Anyone know what mod needs to be done to align it correctly? I want to ride a short while before cutting it but the spacer doesn't look right ontop of the stem as in pic attached.

Just remove the plastic spacer and put some generic round, one. Then cup on top and your all set without cutting.

Thanks for the reply..contacted canyon today they said spacer should sit ontop of the stem but as you can see it doesn't. I've sent them the pic and await there reply and try your idea.

Cutting the extensions drastically is pretty standard with the Subsonic, they're sized so that a tall rider with the pads forward still has options.
There is 40mm (~1.5in) adjustment capacity in the Subsonic bracket so you're not locked into one length. They do require more precise cutting than the Sonic bracket equipped bars. The reason for Canyon using the Subsonic is that too many people were shoving the extensions way back on the old J4 bracket and causing problems.

I have the same on my CF, I choose to keep my seat rail based holder instead as I heard the Canyon bracket sit a bit too low for some riders, you should reach out to CanyonJay for details.

I have finally managed to tweak my Speedmax the way I wanted, with Aeria Ultimate Stem + Hydration system combo. I thought I'd share that with y'all, cheers!

For reference, I did end up getting my LBS to take ~40cm off the bars, and now they fit perfectly. A size M was the right call for me at 5'9 with a 33" inseam (measured from crotch to floor wearing cycling shoes, using a text book between the legs to measure down from).

How was installation of the stem?

also - any pics of how flush it sits against the rubber bento box?

Does canyon have a stem with a positive rise that will fit the CF? I need to come up even more than the risers allow and I really do not want to use a different stem not fit to look flush against the box.

Has anyone figured out a better solution than electrical tape to ensure the spare compartment door in the top frame tube doesn't pop out/ off while riding? Lost mine during a race last weekend. Now I have a big hole in the top of my frame.... Yes Canyon is replacing it, this time.

Thanks! It does look exactly as I expected and I am pretty happy with the setup. I went with the 100 mm one. Bike is size M, I am 181 cm tall, and I would have gone with an even longer one if it were possible. I have replaced the armpads, too and went with Profile Design Ergo instead of the stock F35, and I will probably need to get longer T4 extensions, too.

There are no spacers underneath the stem, although originally my bike fitter suggested using a 10 mm one, the stem would not sit flush against the bento box. It is not ideal (I will post detailed pictures soon), however it is close enough and I am quite happy with the outcome.

Although I didn't install it on my own (shoutout to my bike mechanic Janisz from Olimpius.pl in Wrocław, Poland), the setup wasn't that complicated. Cable routing was trickiest to get right, especially considering my mechanical Ultegra setup, but eventually we figured it out.

i recently installed the rear seat hydration on my bike but now my rear light won't work on the seat post. wondering what lights do other use and where is it mounted?

I have a 2017 Canyon Speedmax CF 9.0 with Mavic Comete wheels. And I'm a bit frustrated with these wheels as since the first year the spokes are showing some signals of rusting as I live near the ocean. I frequently wipe rugs with WD40 to try to prevent it from spreading more quickly but it's still going...

I contacted Canyon costumer service when I first noticed it, but they said that spoke damaged is not covered by warrant...

So this post is to warn people that it is worth to spend the extra few dollars to get the DT Swiss wheels version and also to ask if you happen to know some place that I can order a set of new spokes.

 Considering buying one of these.
Are you able to drop the pursuit bar from where it sits? Depending on how tall it is, I'd like to lower the pursuit bar and pedistal the aero bars with a new bracket.

Hi CF friends,

I recently purchased a size large 2019 Speedmax CF 8.0 SL. I’m trying to get the fit dialed in but having a problem with pad stack.

I currently have the front end in the stock configuration, 25mm spacer under stem and all risers between base bar and pads/extensions. The extensions are sitting at a 20 degree angle. In this configuration I’m measuring pas stack of ~683-685mm. The size large geometry is supposed to have an upper pad stack limit of 714mm. Can anybody think of why this would be the case? I have 2 calls into Canyon support and they are supposed to be getting back to me, but it’s been a couple days and nothing yet.

Does anybody know for 100% certain the geometry numbers on Canyon US website are for the 2019 bike with PD subsonic setup vs the 2018 T4+ setup?

Thanks Brad. I’m quite familiar with that thread. It’s actually the reason why I ended up buying Canyon. I’ve also talked directly with Ian about this but as of yet have no definitive answer as to how these measurements could be coming up nearly 30mm short.

Just got the rear water bottle bracket from Canyon. Does anyone know what the extra plate is for? The one with the two offset holes, one is recessed. If I can figure out how to attach a photo I’ll try.

Obviously the one bracket is so you can mount to water bottles side by side.

That's so you can mount the bottle in a slight angle behind your seat. Supposed to make it a bit easier to reach for the bottle. I don't use it though.

Has anyone converted their mechanical to di2?

I just got my Speedmax and want to use the di2 from my old bike on it. Are any extral spare/small parts required to get the job done? I'm getting my lbs to do the work but to make sure there won't be any hiccups with missing parts

I was in touch with Canyon today and I need to get a bracket for the battery to attach it in the down tube as there isn’t room to put the battery in the seat post. Other than that, it should be fairly straight forward (fingers crossed).

Have you noticed any rubbing between the bento and stem? I swapped in the 100mm aeria ultimate and later the 70mm, both rub against the bento causing some resistance when trying to recenter after turning the handlebars to the left. Doesn't happen on the right. There is a noticeably larger gap between the stem and bento on the left side than the right.

there is rubbing, however only in very extreme positions (not during a ride) - when I turn the baseball all the way to the right, it rubs slightly against the bento, which in turn prevents the basebar from returning to the straight position. I haven't noticed any difference between the gaps on the left and right.

I had that problem however with the original bento and stem (see picture below, sorry for the dirty bike), and Canyon sent me a free bento replacement (haven't had the chance to try it out, as I wanted to go with the lower bento and different stem anyway). Try re-installing the bento? It might be possible to move it ever so slightly backwards.

Curious if anyone has encountered a front brake on a 2019 CF 7.0 not fitting into the grooves on the fork legs? The pads should be fitting into this space in the fork legs when open but I have found on mine the pads sit too far back into the fork and beyond where the grooves end. Basically the pads are always resting against the fork legs except when I apply the brake. Thinking of putting on an Omega X to "fix" this but seems more like a design problem to me.

FYI, I received the BT-DN110-A battery today and it fits in the seatpost fine. I’ll put some tape or foam around it and it should sit up there nicely without the bracket.

Yea i don't know wtf Canyon was talking about with this battery bracket. I cant even figure out where this damn thing would go.
I too shoved it in the seat post with some folded duct tape as filler to keep it tight.

Also got my speedmax on the road finally with the Aeria Ultimate stem and hydration. I'm using the 25mm spacer, di2, Tririg brake. Looking super clean.
My bike mechanic found the internal cable stop and noodle for the front brake was causing too much friction in the brake, so he decided to use the jagwire outer to get it thru the stem. My biggest peeve on the thing is how the bento moves around because of the cables moving about as you turn the handlebars. I wonder if there is a better way....

Yes, it is the clincher version of the Zipp Super 9.

Did you shop any other discs? I live in a rural area where no LBS’s have any real experience with discs to give me good advice. After spending $7k on the Speedmax, I don’t want to overpay for a disc but don’t want to regret buying a cheap one. Also curious about internal/external width of the disc specially for the cf SLX 8.0 SL. Any help will be much appreciated!

Congrats! I just purchased the 8.0 with the Di2 shifting. Can anyone offer some advice on how to remove the aero bar extensions to cut them to a shorter length? This is my first stab at di2 shifting and I'm not sure how to pull the extensions out with the di2 wires currently plugged in. Thanks! Also, any suggestions on what to cut the extensions with? Hacksaw?

FYI if anyone experiences the aeria ultimate stem rubbing and getting caught on the bento, I solved it this weekend. Had to take the bento off and sand down the rubber using a very coarse grit sandpaper on the right side where it was rubbing. It comes as a sharp angle at the corner so I smoothed the edge and took a couple mm off. After reinstalling the bento the handlebar now turns freely both directions. Very excited as I've now got it working exactly how I wanted.

Super easy with the di2. the bar end shifters have a reverse thread lock nut. Just twist that until they are loose and pull the wire from the shifter.
Then just loosen and remove the bar from the clamp. Then cut away and sand the edges

I have almost got the Di2 set up on my Speedmax CF7.0, I just need to be able to get the cable from the junction box to the front derailleur. The bike came with mechanical shifting, so the opening for the cable to the front derailleur if very small and not big enough for the Di2 cable. Is there a way to get the plastic cable guide out of the frame as it looks like it is glued in? If not, will I need to drill this bigger? How did you get around this issue? Thanks!

I have just received my Speedmax CF 8.0 and i'm planning to install a D-Fly unit like i already have on my Ultimate, haven't decided yet which one to choose, the older EW-WU101 to be installed on the seatstay or the newer smaller inline EW-WU111 somewhere in the bentobox.
anybody installed one and where did you install it ?

Hey guys. Just checking if anyone faced the issue with angled spacer kit. It doesn't exist on the site, so when I felt in need of purchasing it, I had to write to Canyon and order it from consultant. But what happened, is, despite I told them the SN of my frame and specifically stressed out that I own new (2019) Canyon Speedmax CF SLX, the spacers they sent do not fit this model and are rather intended for Speedmax CF SLX of previous year. Practically, that means that you can't mount these spacers on new bike simply because the distance between bolts is different on the 2018 and 2019 models. While I'm waiting (for quite a while) for comments from consultant via mail, I'd like to ask whether someone already managed to setup angled spacers for Speedmax CF SLX 2019. I specifically mean the spacers that allow to rise both armrests and extensions, not just wedges for armrests.

What are folks using for their spare/tool items on the Speedmax CF? I’ve replaced the stock bento box with a Profile Design top tube bag which is great for nutrition but can’t fit both tools and nutrition. A rear storage box or triangle frame box seems like it would work great and wasn’t sure if anybody had good luck with 3rd party options?

Pulled the trigger on a Speedmax CF 7.0 last week and started taking it apart and rebuilding it over the weekend. I was inspired by Tririg's modifications / review and am going a very similar route. https://www.tririg.com/...eedmax_CF_SLX_Review (scroll down for the CF).

Last year I bought a new Alpha X front end and put it on my old TT bike so I decided to set it up on my Speedmax. I've also replaced the brakes with Omega X brakes and the crank by my older Rotor 3D with Power2Max powermeter. By replacing the entire front end I had a lot of work dealing with internal cable routing which turned out to be quite easy on the Speedmax. I also got the Torhans Bento X but it doesn't fit as well as the Tririg pics would suggest (I noticed afterwards their pics show a bike without shifters and shifting cables). I'll need to drill an extra hole in it and find a way to make the cables fit through the cable opening. I'll look very sweet when complete.

Still need to cut the fork as well, and my old Flo's turned out to not be 11sp compatible so I'll order a new freehub. Was planning to sell the Mavic wheels but will keep them for training in the winter.

Does anyone have a solution for storage of a spare kit?
I keep taking my chances by racing without one because I can't figure out where to put one. Not a whole lot of room in the bento with a di2 box, gels, multi tool and lever. Also using canyons BTS bracket and PD BTA aeria hydration.

Put a tube into zip bag and then over the seat rails. At least that's how I do it (old Adamo Prologue has enough of space)

Here's my Speedmax CF. I'll worry about the mismatch in wheel decals later, as well as cutting the extensions and fork. I've currently got it set up similar to my old bike and will ride it for a bit before seeing Jim at Ero Sports in November for a TT fit.

Anyone changed their CF to Etap? Wondering where people have placed the blip box. Looking into purchasing one and installing Etap and the aeria stem and hydration unit.

My di2 box is in the bento box. takes a bit of space. wish it could be integrated but oh well

My XS 2019 women's CF 8.0 is on its way and I'm already researching how to personalize it -- at least in terms of hydration. I love the look/function of the Aeria system, but I wonder if it will be too tall for the XS frame. Has anyone on an XS frame managed to get it to fit? I'd need the 70mm stem.

Received my bike, yesterday, yay! Discovered damage on the non-drive side...boo. We believe it's from the front wheel rubbing while in the shipping box. Cosmetic, but it’s still a bummer. My 9 year old road bike doesn’t even have scrapes like that, not even after a paceline crash. We’ve already swapped the crank to one with smaller arms, so it would be a massive hassle to return — and no guarantee that a replacement wouldn’t also have similar issues. Is it common to have scuffs and scratches on a mail-order bike?

You should contact Canyon. I have bought 3 bikes from them and received all 3 in perfect condition. They'll offer you a replacement or maybe a discount.

Swapping the crank does not make it a 'massive hassle' to return. Just put the old one back on; takes less than 5 minutes...

Looking at changing my front end to Sync Ergonomics extensions but don't think the current extension clamps will allow for this given the angled spacers and different arm cups. Does anyone know if it possible to purchase the stock extension clamps from the SLX model from Canyon?

Ha, it did turn out to be a semi-hassle, since the company's big cyber attack totally FUBAR'd their customer service email and phone. So I think I ended up sitting on that bike for about 10 days before I was able to talk to anyone. Since they only offered $200 for the damage, I decided to return it and order a 2nd bike, in hopes that it might be damage-free.

It just arrived yesterday, 1day shy of 5 weeks after I ordered the first bike. And it looks great -- phew! The box had damage (including a hole where a little skewer-end cover was poking through) like a slacker Ace Ventura had handled it, but the bike inside was free of any visible defects.

I just got my Speedmax Cf 8.0 and was wondering what you all do for tube storage since there isn't the integrated compartment? I have the rear bottle holders so not much room for a bag below the saddle...

Speedmax owners what crank based power meters are you are you running? I am happy with my Quark but now, with a Speedmax on the horizon, I wish I had bought the GXP and not the BB30. I am a Speedplay fan hence the crank based request. I have been advised on here before to avoid Shimano based pm's due to the inaccuracies with the non symmetrical crank. I already use DC Rainmaker for reviews but I am just interested to see what is working well for folks, specifically 24mm. Thanks!

I was very impressed with my Power2Max pm a couple of years ago. Which cranks did you choose?

It's still my old crank from 6-7 years ago that was on my previous TT bike. Rotor 3D with praxis chainrings, with the Classic P2M. The set has worked flawlessly over the years so while the bike is gone, i'm still using the crank and powermeter.
