She entered the race like a normal runner - ran one marathon previously, got a qualifying time and sent in her application. She decided to run because her brother was doing the race. She did not expect to be in the elite field. When she finished she thought she might be in the top ten but had no idea she was in second. She won $75,000. Very cool story.
