Where to get Vaporfly 4%? Wow is it hard to find.
So I tried a pair of Nike Zoomfly shoes at a local half marathon a few weeks ago and those things let me go about 10 - 15 seconds per mile faster than I had any business running on that day. I don't know where it came from, but I know that I liked it.

So now I am a full on convert and would love to find the 4% version. Anyone got any leads on to where there might be a stash of them?

I sat out in front of Fleet Feet for 2 hrs before they opened on black Friday and people here made fun of me lol. (of course I got IT band shortly after that and have only worn them once, ugh)

Not sure, maybe check with fleet feet (call a bunch of different stores?). Or just check runningwharehouse.com everyday, there have been some showing up there.

Sometimes its a matter of luck finding them, while searching for them id google them every few days to see if anything popped up. After a few weeks through googling I found finishline.com got a shipment of them and I bought several pairs. They sold out pretty quick. If you really want them that bad you can pay like 100 bucks over retail and get them on ebay.

2x Deca-Ironman World Cup (10 Ironmans in 10 days), 2x Quintuple Ironman World Cup (5 Ironmans in 5 days), Ultraman, Ultra Marathoner, and I once did an Ironman.

following runningwarehouse on social media was how I tracked down a pair.

just takes a combination of luck and willingness to pull the trigger.

I had 2 pairs at one time and had trouble selling an unused pair in the classifieds here (ended up going on ebay).

Did you try the Vaporfly Street, or the regular Fly for your half marathon?

The Fly version really is a great shoe. If you spend much time in Beaverton around the Nike campus, you'll see a TON of people wearing them as every day trainers. The Lunarlon foam is very soft, and the Nylon plate makes them stiff and snappy at the same time.

The Vaporfly Street is made with React foam, which is a huge leap forward for Nike, but I'm not sure they are supposed to be for running. I ordered a pair last week and will put some miles on them to see how they hold up. The Epic Reacts are *great* running shoes as well, but I need a bit more stiffness under the arch to protect against plantar fasciitis which I am prone to with flexible shoes.

The word on the street (I work at Nike, but I've heard this rumor on some shoe fanatic site, so I'm not sharing secrets) is that the next Fly will come with React foam and the carbon plate from the Vaporfly 4%. I don't personally feel the plate upgrade is necessary as the Flys are very light, and would be lighter still with React foam. But if it's a high volume shoe that I can buy at the Employee Store, that would be fantastic.

My guess is that the Vaporfly 4% will be superseded (in public) by a new model this weekend in Boston, though I don't know anything for sure, other than Nike wants to keep on winning.

I really want to like these. I have a pair of Zoom Fly and like you, run a little faster in them, legs are not so tired afterwards and they are not squishy/spongy like the Hokas.
The only issue is that they are so unstable. It's probably because of the thickness of the sole and the huge drop... just walking around the my ankle/heel moves all over the place. It's probably why I have PF in that foot... It might be some strength / stability issue on my part but it's definitely multiplied 10x in this shoe.

What's your CdA?

Literally, just yes or no :)

not as easy as yes or no as that is not how Nike is releasing this shoe to dealers these days

typically 2-3 weeks before a launch I get final notification of an allocation and how many pairs I will get and when they can be sold.

All I know of for now is this launch for 4/11 and that there will be an updated 4% in Q4 sometime (exact date not determined)

could there be more restocks this year, I'd think its a safe bet there will be, is there a planed date for them, no there is not. could it be before June 1st, maybe.

I'd be alert at 10:00 am tomorrow

I lucked out and got mine off runningwarehouse for 15% off. If you're on Facebook join the group Running Shoe Geeks. There's shop owners that post when they get stock and will take orders over the phone. That or go to Brazil. After doing 70.3 FL this weekend it seemed every Brazilian athlete had a pair on as well, so they must have a surplus.

Fleet Feet has their online stock updated now with the obsidian color. I broke down and picked up a pair. I went a half size smaller than the Zoom Fly's per recommendations of a number of people on lets run message board. Hope they fit as I don't think sizes will stick around long enough to do an exchange.

Just went to Running Warehouse (post edit: It was actually Nike.com not RW) & most sizes in the 4% (black) were in stock. Put a size 11 in my cart, but couldn't remember if I'm normally a size 11--to DOWNsize to 10.5. I've heard conflicting reports on the fit. I left the site & went to look at fit reviews for about 3 minutes & nearly half of the shoes (including the size 11 I put in the cart before I left the site) were GONE. Oh well, it saved me $250 today.

There's a 15% off code for RW that works, so 212.50 and it's worth every penny.

Running Warehouse and Eastbay still had some, size dependent. I hate the black color and hope my ice blue pair hold out until they rerelease the crimson color, or come out with a volt pair

Youre confused. If you had the same size in both, and the ZoomFlys had less room, its because the VaporFly is bigger for any givem size. So if you wear a 12 in ZoomFly thats fits perfect, it would mean the VaporFly in 12 would fit big so you would size down to an 11.5 in the VaporFly.

I wear a 12 in the Hoka Clifton, Hoka ATR 4, Brooks Launch and in the Vaporfly 4%. Maybe that helps.

I just got a cancellation email from Fleet Feet as well... this is absolute horseshit. I literally could not have been more diligent about ordering as quick as possible. Considering I had a confirmation email in my inbox 2 minutes after the shoes went live, I find it incredibly hard to believe I wasn't one of the first handful of people to order.

Also, I was on Nike.com when they went live as well and had the ability to order a size 11 but didn't because I got the confirmation from Fleet Feet already and assumed I was good.

I will NEVER be ordering from FF again. What crap.

Nike is the more reliable online inventory management system.
That said, I could only get them to come up when using the Search feature. They did not appear on the base Vaporfly page. I believe that was a CDN caching issue.

They had 1625 pairs across the whole size run. I don't know how many pairs any of the other retailers had. They were completely sold out by 9am PST.

Re FF: sorry this happened. However:

A company that sells direct and through distributors sometimes underdelivers when an item has huge demand because they would rather sell direct. Apparel companies have known reputations for being terrible about this. It is underhanded but there is not much a company like FF can do.

Or it could have been bad order management by FF. I kind of doubt it, though.

FF knew days ago that they would sellout online at 10am EST, immediately after going live online. FF literally posted that on THIS thread. They knew exactly how to handle the situation and failed. Bad order management. Period.

You have far more patience than me... I just responded with harsh criticism, asking for full explanation on how someone who ordered within 2 minutes is denied. But you're spot on, they should create a chart for those who got cancellations. Especially since a good chunk of those ordered might be returned from wrong sizing or buyers remorse.

When did you place your order? I put mine in within a couple minutes of it going live. I'm really hoping I didn't get screwed...

Probably about 15 minutes after they went live. Hopefully you’re still good.

What crap.

FF actually emailed me back 24 hours AFTER i got the cancellation email and AFTER I purchased a pair of shoes from Eastbay. They said my cancellation was a mistake and that my shoes already shipped (and they supplied a tracking number).

Overall, yes, I’m happy I’m getting my shoes but it’s still awful business practice. I now have to wait until my shoes arrive to feel confident that I can cancel my other order. Just annoying.

Its true, those are great shoes.

But, they do not have the stiffness of the Vaporfly or Fly.

After 50 miles they are quite flexy. Still extremely comfortable, but if you need the stiffness, it's just not there.

True. I use the racer flyknit for that. They are more unforgiving though. when the legs are good, they are great, but if the legs are so so, it's miserable.

Every sale is a conversation. Don't see anything wrong with opening the conversation at a price that these are selling for consistently on Ebay. After tax these were 272.xx. Trying to make $50.00 doesn't seem like an inappropriate amount considering their availability and the hype around them . Appreciate your perspective though. The market will decide what is fair and what isn't.

I have the fly too not the vapor. I find the react more responsive and I really like the fit and the somewhat elastic contour around the ankle. It is easy on my fragile Achilles so a definite plus.

I think we all do. Its pretty crazy.

But there will be some trickle down this year, and the Fly will get React foam and the carbon plate without raising the price much. Should come in belkw a lot of the boost stuff.

The zoom X foam will probably maintain a premium though.

Can you expand on your comment, "short-lived shoes"? My expectation is to use this as a race shoe only and not for training. Figure by doing this, it would extend the life of the shoe. Just want to know what to expect from these in regards to wear and tear.

It’s an interesting question because if you only use the shoe a few times a year for racing, theoretically couldn’t it last forever? Or does time degrade the material?

I’ve often wondered this, would appreciate any insights people have as I’ve never “saved” a shoe for racing only.

I went through the thought process that I spend like $50 max on my training shoes and even if these only last 150-200 miles that is basically two full seasons of races. I have shoes that I only raced in that lasted me 3 seasons and only got new ones because I wanted to. If these shoes are better than the zoom flys I think they are worth their price.

I can now confirm the Vaporflys live up to the hype.

I have 2 pairs of Zoom Fly, a pair of Epic Reacts, and a pair of Vapor Streets.

The Fly is stiff and soft. Very fine shoe that I do a majority of my training in. Minimal rubber on the heal, but I am a midfoot striker, so no worries there.

The Epic React is good on clear pavement. Any rockyness transfers a bit through the sole. Its very bouncy, and the upper is great. Not stiff enough for me to run in regularly. My foot strike is in the foam, and misses the rubber sole, so wear will be an issue.

The Vapor Street is killer. I did 6 miles in them the other day, and while I am fat and not in good shape, I had a nice run in them. They are not exactly intended to be runners, but they have the right ingredients.

The Vaporfly 4% blew me away. The amount of squish is incredible. I can't imagine having joint pain after running in them. The Zoom X foam is indeed a revalation beyond Boost and React.

Ordered the Odyssey Reacts this morning. We will see what those are like soon. Hoping for a little more stiffness.

Yeah they feel like a different shoe that the regular zoom fly. The soft and squish is nice in the vaporfly. Plus they fit my foot so well. I’m a 10.5 in the zoom but my standard 9.5 in the vaporfly.

If anyone wants a 10 in the vaporfly let me know before it goes back to Nike. I’ll sell for $300 shipped. PM me if interested.

Great review, thanks man. I’m trying to convince myself to go the cheaper react vs 4%, looking for a cushioned responsive ride. Currently in the Brooks Ghost.

I have no idea what phase of the release process they are in. The Fly came out June/July of last year, so I would guess that is the target.

The shoes really do feel different. The Fly fits me perfectly, while the vaporfly has to be cinched down. I don't know if i can go down half a size.

And just released...news of 50 pair of Nike VaporFly Flyknit Elite 3-D printed shoes. They will sell for about 500 Euro. They look pretty cool & the process was really cool how they did it. Same sole as the elite with upper is a non-water absorbing thermoplastic so if it rains your shoes won't get heavy. This a not a joke, it's real. No pink.

Yes. They had a display at work that people could handle.

It felt a lot like the flyknit had been woven with fishing line. A little stretchy in all directions. Certainly would not pick up and retain any water.

I haven't had elites in my hands, so I dont know what the upper is like...but I dont see this new upper making it out of the pro ranks.

I think the Zoom Fly upper is tge best that Nike makes right now, but I am partial to flywires.

Only have 20 or so miles on mine (running to/from track + actual track workout), too soon to tell.

I will echo the cushiony/springlike feel, but will also mention it seems like a tall shoe. In other words, it feels like you could roll an ankle if you misstep or take a turn too sharp. Just my observation, your results may vary.

I just got a pair of the VF 4%. Got some gift cards and happened to be in the Niketown store, who had them in my size. I’ve been through 2 pairs of the zoomfly the past 6-8 months and I’ve really enjoyed them. It’s tough to get online so try going into a NIke store.

Much more stiffer and hard impact but I usually don’t mind. I had a lot of great runs in the zoomfly and was skeptical about the VF since they are so much more $$.

I have to say that the VF is quite different than the ZF. They are a lot more squishy, more cushion, and give a feeling of propulsion. They are a lot lighter and the toe area is roomier. I thought the arch was narrower on my right first on my first few runs but I got used to them. I’ve done 3 runs in them I including a 11-12 mile tempo and double run day (total 18 mi). I’ll race a half Ironman and, likely, full IM in them the next few months. I “think” the VF cushioning keeps the legs fresher and they seem to be better at keeping a faster pace. I just wish they lasted longer than a few hundred miles! For context, I’m a sub 3 hour marathoner at best and have done IM marathons in around 3:35-3:45.

I had to go up a half size to size 11, usually wear 10.5 in Hoka Clayton and sauconys.

Wow, those are just smokin' hot.

The 4% are nowhere near as nice of a fit on me compared to Fly's, but there is hope if they are going to offer them with Elite/Vapor Street upper.
I am actually running in a couple of pairs of Vapor Streets right now, and they are performing really well. It's a lot of React foam underfoot, and makes for a very cushioned ride.
