This story has buzzed with great shock in Toronto.
It has nothing to do with running, but it was interesting that running seemed to be a big part of their life.

Hate to say it, but he sounds like a Muslim man who seems to have a lot of issues with women. You would think he would have been a bit more westernized given his upbringing.

Who knows if he got his violent tendencies from his father, or whether he had some unresolved childhood issues. But he came from a prestigious family where everyone in his family circle was distinguished (or so the article implies).

I just don't understand why she was such a hopeless optimist or was she so status driven that she put up with it for so long? But then again, maybe it wouldn't have mattered if she tried to divorce earlier. Maybe he would have murdered her just the same. I guess she underestimated his capacity for violence.

Poor kids.

He got his violent tenancies from his religion and its views of women and how to deal with women.

She was a well regarded family doctor. I don't think he added too much to her status. Sometimes I think people marry people outside their usual circles because of the idea they are tolerant because they did it. Then it becomes hard to admit it was a mistake. Was that the case here who knows.

Maybe. Maybe he was just born that way.

Where do all the non-Muslims get their violent tenancies from?

I've known several women like this in my life (you probably have to) - the type that on the surface seem to have their act together, have good careers, etc but in reality are complete screw ups in their relationships with men. If there is a loser, abuser or mismatch out there, then they seem to gravitate towards them and are easily charmed by these kind of guys. I'm not a psychologist, but wonder if it has to do with low esteem, or whatever?

OK, so there's some other cause of violent behavior in the world's ~5 billion non-Muslims, but it's Islam that makes Muslims violent. Got it.

I just told my wife, "don't make me go all Step 3 on you."

I haven't brought her chocolates or flowers yet, but last night after dinner, we did run down to DQ for a Blizzard. I wounder if that counts?
