Just found out yesterday that my neighbors daughter played with Lauren Doyle on her college Rugby team. I beleive that is the closest I've ever been in terms of relationship separations to someone who actually played in the olympics.

My daughter played on a competitive soccer team with one of the current Olympic women's field hockey team members. She was also a very good soccer player, but the family realized in junior high that field hockey was the more likely route to D1 colleges. Not sure if they were even thinking Olympics at that age, but later she was making pre-Olympic team while in HS.. I would not have been surprised to see this girl make D1 in soccer had she concentrated on it. Three of my daughters teammates did make D1 colleges in soccer so they had the kind of coaching that could train at that level.

Yeah, I was watching the stream and they mentioned her (funny, they said that the Aussie hurdler we wanted to see was hurt; uh, the Aussie hurdler we really wanted to see was in the race :-), and we saw her bounce once or twice from far away. I don't think they play that way in Brazil...in fact for the most part the US and a few other western countries...well outside of the middle east, is largely individual and alone in this somewhat puritanical and old school mentality.

I don't know who she is or what sport she participates in, but I approve.
And I hope it doesn't change, but we do women need to be nearly naked to perform well in sports while men seem to do ok with a bit more coverage.
And not just in olympic sports (like volleyball or track) but at the gym and on the road too. Sports bras and booty shorts are fantastic. But are women that much more warm in a tank top or t-shirt than a guy is?
