"Me wanna be like you daddy!"
There is no better feeling than the love I have for my 3 year old little girl. She tells me time and time again that, "Me wanna be like you daddy." She is so precious and innocent. I am very blessed to be her father and have her as my daughter. She loves to be with me. When I go out in my garage to lift weights, she sees me taping up my bad wrist and she always has to have her wrist taped too. When I'm doing an exercise, she lifts these little 2 lb. dumbells as says, "Me strong like you daddy." She tries to mimic everything I do. If the weather is not conducive to running outside and she sees me running on the treadmill, she gets on it when I'm done and starts moving her feet like she's running in place and says, "Me running like you daddy." When I pump up my tires before a ride, she has to have her Barbie bike tires pumped up too. If I put on my helmet, she has to put hers on too. When I get done running, she delivers me a cold drink from the refrigerator. In fact, I think she is the only 3 year old I know that eats Clif bars and drinks Endurox. The first time she saw me making a lemon lime Endurox drink, she said, "Me like that too daddy." I said, "No honey, this is ucky. You won't like this." Well, she had to try it and after first sip she rubbed her belly and said, "Mmmmmmmmmmmm, yummy!" Now anytime she sees me making one, she has to have her little glass too. Perhaps the funniest of all was when she was outside riding her Barbie bike in the driveway while I was practicing the T2 transition. I had just rolled up into the driveway and did a dismount then she had to try and I hear this metallic sound hitting the concrete. It was her and her bike falling over as she was trying to do a dismount from her bike like daddy. I said are you ok and she looked up at me with a big grin on her face and she said, "Me just trying to be like you daddy."

There is no better feeling in the world than being a dad and knowing that your child looks up to you and loves you unconditionally. It's just a shame that our world has become so cruel.

"Me wanna be like you daddy."

You mean she can't use proper grammar and sentence structure yet? Better get the tutors ;)

They are the best.

Awesome.

My 4yo son gives me "I'm gonna be bigger-stronger like you". Everything we eat-drink seems to (in his mind) make him "bigger-stronger". He's into superheroes ... and I have him convinced I'm captain america (this week he "The Human Torch" ... we just saw the movie). I got my first tri-suit and tried it on. He calls it my "costume". I hope he's in his early 20s before he finds out I'm not really captain america.

I called powerade my "superjuice" ... and now he's made it his.

I mentioned this is the motivation thread ... but having one of the things you love the most mimic your every move certainly causes one (or should) to make every move count.

Anyway ... it also gives a chance to talk about our kids. I could fill up this whole site with "my kid did ...." stories. My kids are healthy and bright, hyper, and ticklish. I got everything I wished for.

My son thinks he's "King Poop on Turd Island" (or however it goes), he's just upgraded from his old bike to a Power Rangers' bike (K-Mart) and he rides a "2-wheeler". If he knew what a "strut" was, he'd do it. Hey, maybe after my 1/2IM, I can model a strut for him. =)

We call ourselves (and grandpa) "The B-Boys" (B as Bemont ... our last name). We need to get "costumes" made.

How sweet!! She'll still want to be like you when she's a master's athlete (or whatever she decides to do).

Paul Simon said it best.....

Father and Daughter

If you leap awake
In the mirror of a bad dream
And for a fraction of a second
You cant remember where you are
Just open your window
And follow your memory upstream
To the meadow in the mountain
Where we counted every falling star

I believe the light that shines on you
Will shine on you forever
And though I cant guarantee
Theres nothing scary hiding under your bed
I’m gonna stand guard
Like a postcard of a Golden Retriever
And never leave till I leave you
With a sweet dream in your head

Im gonna watch you shine
Gonna watch you grow
Gonna paint a sign
So youll always know
As long as one and one is two
There could never be a father
Who loves his daughter more than I love you

Trust your intuition
Its just like going fishing
You cast your line
And hope you get a bite
But you dont need to waste your time
Worrying about the market place
Try to help the human race
Struggling to survive its harshest night

Im gonna watch you shine
Gonna watch you grow
Gonna paint a sign
So youll always know
As long as one and one is two
There could never be a father
Who loves his daughter more than I love you

Im gonna watch you shine
Gonna watch you grow
Gonna paint a sign
So youll always know
As long as one and one is two
There could never be a father
Who loves his daughter more than I love you

Great story, dude. I love riding my bike with my 5 year old, Nick. We cruise around the streets of my neighborhood while he yells at the top of his lungs, "Nick and Daddy at the Tour de France!".
