Great read Dev

All the talk about dopping lately has had me thinking about taking up hiking.....

For the AGers, this is what it's all about; the stories we will have 20 years from now!

Thanks for sharing!!

Yeah, actually that was what precipitated some of this. I was talking to Dan about how he used to have more content related various training adventures and fun things to do while training. So my plan to get at least one article up per month on this general topic for the front page, and ideally more, so if any of you guys have any real good stories from training and might fall into the "adventure category" or if you go to a destination race and want to share what it is like, please drop me a note, so I can pull all the cool stuff out of your head and get it into a story that we can share with everyone.

For those not understanding what Cusetri and I are referring to, Slowman, took a bunch of riders out for a 5100 foot vertical hillclimb straight out of Kona last week and I tried to capture some of the essence of it here:

All the guys doing it were not "racing" rather we were spectators or there on vacation, but someone racing could do this ride on Mon or Tue before the race and have no effect on their race (in fact, the intensity might be nice). The reality is that aside from the guys who are certain to be in the top 10 in each age group, for everyone else, there is a lot of Kona that you can experience. Just bring an extra cassette. 34x32 gearing is definitely recommended and even then at many places, my speed dropped below 4 kph. Why 4 kph? Well my GPS watch turns off if I drop below that threshold (it is set up that way so that when I stop for traffic lights or walk crossing a street in traffic, I don't get credit for it during a run).

11-32 SRAM cassette will just work on a standard tri bike set up
